Nope, no need. SMG2 is the better Galaxy in my opinion and most others as well. You wouldn't even tell it's a sequel honestly.
Ah, I see, cheers.The main difference between the two from a broad perspective is that Galaxy 1 is kind of slower paced than 2 due to the hub world system vs 2's straight up level select system. Other than that, 2 is basically a full length and full quality level pack to 1, so just start with whichever is more convenient for you. The stories have little if nothing to do with each other.
I haven't been keeping up with this thread, but is anyone talking about why SMG2 is being released on the eShop, but not SMG1? Perhaps there's an HD remaster planned for it instead... or a N3DS port?
Good point. I saw new copies of the first SMG at Best Buy just yesterday.I think Super Mario Galaxy is still in print as a Nintendo Select. Not so sure about Galaxy 2, I don't see it around as often or for as cheap. I think part of the reasoning behind this idea is to give Wii U owners a chance to get out of print first party titles that are hard to find.
So does GamePad/Classic Controller controls work on disc Wii Mode? Or is that an assumed feature?

I've never played the new Punch Out! and I've heard quite a bit of praise for it, how does it play? I'm assuming it's not a waggle game (I know it requires a Wiimote).
Either way I need to ask my Wiimote back from a friend.
A lot of those probably won't release either :/Don't expect to use that Gamepad in lots of titles! Nintendo published titles which supported the classic controller are, according to Wikipedia...

Well, I meant if I'd enjoy SMG1 less if I played them in the reverse order. I played DeS after DaS1 and 2 and it felt pretty rough aside from some of the level designs.Youll be lost

I don't have a Wii controller or nunchuck - so it sucks I have to buy those. Additionally, my Wii U is not near my TV (av grear in a closet) so it sucks I have to find a ugly ass wireless sensor bar. Essentially, I'm out $100 without buying a game.
ALL that said, I REALLY want to play Galaxy2 and Metroid. Games I missed by not owning a Wii.
We don't know for sure, since no game that uses the CCP has been released so far. There's enough "evidence" to assume it can go either way: support for only eShop releases (the most practical case scenario for Nintendo) and system-wide implementation (the most logical implementation of the feature). We'll need to wait until a game that uses the CCP is released to check with a physical copy, or until the next system update hits to see if it's being incorporated as the off-screen feature for the vWii was in the past.

How is that even a worry? Every Wii game has the ability to output the video to the gamepad in a mirrored form already. It's not going to suddenly exclude that feature when a Classic Controller game is available.

I agree and never bothered even using the feature. As a controller with a screen, I use off-tv all the time. I never bothered using it as a standalone display because it's just so fucking silly, there's buttons right on the damn thing. The poster is worried that somehow they're going to turn off the display when a game uses the pad as a Classic Controller. Which I think (I hope) is just paranoid.It's a pain in the ass to play with your wiimote's when you're in bed and using the gamepad screen.
I don't remember if the nunchuck combo required waggle or not. But another example of a game that is played NES style, and the gamepad has the "waggle sensor" (the U Pro Controller doesn't). Suddenly it's a bummer that a lot of Wii games just never bothered programming in CC functionality due to it seeming excessive and unneccessary.
Hopefully some games get patched. Retro or Monster (3DS port) are active and very familiar with the DKCR game code so it wouldn't be at all tasky to implement such a minor but essential addition.

I am tempted by SMG2 too but I already have the Wii version and don't really like the resolution output so never played it.
If the game has the same resolution of a Wii disc than I pass.
theres a gecko code (cheat) to use a classic controller on DKCR on a homebrewed Wii, all they would need to do (on the iso version) is impliment that memory address change and call it good, it would take no time at all to impliment.

I take it you're young and aren't used to playing games from the PS2-era or earlier? You're missing out. Galaxy 2 was universally praised as one of the must have games of the generation, despite being an SD game in an HD era.
Ehm not really, I had a Wii for a long time, played the first Galaxy but never finished and got the 2nd but never played. I am not a graphics freak but having played Wii U titles from the launch day I cannot turn back to that horrid SD.

Yes, because last generation we got a lot of PS2 era games in packs of 2-3 in at least 720p (with or without upgraded graphics) for sometimes not even $60 a pack. That means that either you had 3 games for full price or 2 games for about $40 (correct me if i'm wrong). Do the math. We're talking about just upscaling to HD, no special, super, turbo, PC high settings games.

Does not look good as in its not HD, or something else? I played it for hours last night on my 46" Samsung and at no point did I think this does not look good, I was too busy being overjoyed after forgetting how good SMG2 is to play

Last of Us and GTA V (as well as Wind Waker HD) did have more improvements than higher resolution though. I would have considered SMG2 at 30 (15 sale) in HD even when I already have the Wii disc here (same for MPT), but I just don't see enough benefit to double-dip for a SD re-release.
I think I may buy Trilogy again, because it is that good, and I want to support Metroid games that aren't Other M. They are taking their sweet time bringing GBA games to the virtual console, because I want to have Fusion and Zero Mission.
