Wii Titles (SMG2, Metroid Prime trilogy and Punch Out!) Announced for Wii U eShop

Yes there is. You can buy a download code off the Nintendo eShop website. You just need to buy it as a guest, without linking your NNID. Here's the link if you are located in the U.S.: http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/pvqEpTCeo0N6UW0Da3T1f1c2vzWP7iCd

Then you can just redeem the download code when you have the capacity for it.

Do you know how long the codes last for? I don't own a Wii U, but I will get one eventually. I assume the codes last for a few years at least. I just used the Club Nintendo code from my 2006 copy of New Super Mario Bros for the DS.

I've always wondered this too, because I bought a bunch of games via Club Nintendo and haven't redeemed them. I haven't found answer though :(

If I delete a game off my usb to make room for SMG2, will I be able to redownload the game? (Pikmin3/Wind Waker or NES Remix)

Yes. The process is seamless if you're using the same NNID and console combo you originally downloaded your game to. You just go to the eShop, click on the game, redownload it as you would on Steam, XBL or PSN.

I'm assuming this site in general is region specific (Download codes, ability to purchase)?

If not i would have like to purchase the Prime Trilogy on their eshop site since i might be away from my WiiU for its launch week.

so fucking ready to play metroid prime trilogy

No, I meant for games that have Classic Controller support.

Actually, they didn't mention the Wii U Pro Controller at all. Iwata only showed the Classic Controller Pro (which is physically similar to the Wii U Pro Controller, but not the same hardware).

Edit: Watching the Direct again, I noticed something interesting. Iwata says: "Wii U backwards compatibility with the Wii was achieved by switching the hardware function to Wii mode. Because of this, in the past, we couldn't distribute Wii disc software for download on Wii U. Now that we can reproduce Wii disc software on Wii U, we can make these titles available to download, and some of the games that were compatible with Wii Classic Controller can be played using only the Wii U gamepad too."

The way he separates 1. downloadable Wii titles from 2. Wii games that were compatible with the CCP makes me think that the feature will be made available for more than just the eShop releases. Maybe just for first-party games, where Nintendo can test the specific changes made to the individual IOS required to run them with the Wii U gamepad? Maybe it's too much of a close reading, but I want to believe. I want to believe, Nintendo. I want. to. believe.

Did you already have it registered?

Don't even show up on my product list. o.o

Also, I now expect Xenoblade Chronicles Wii to come out later this year for download around Xenoblade Chronicles X. It'll use the GamePad controls, for sure. Probably after Xenoblade 3DS to not hurt that game's sales so much, though.

The fact that they get recorded in the Daily Log makes these even better. Hopefully they see that the sale numbers for the $10 games are much higher than the $20 ones, and do regular sales. But, they won't, 'cause Nintendo.

Are there wireless sensor bars that work with the Wii U? I see some cheap ones on eBay along with some cheap controllers/nunchucks as well.

3rd party sensor bars are probably ok but I wouldn't trust the controllers. Argos has some nunchuks going about £10 online.

This is so awesome. I've been wanting to play Metroid Prime Trilogy for years, but it was fucking expensive.

I'm excited to know what comes next. Kirby would be awesome, Sin&Punishment would be interesting too (GAF hypes it a lot haha, I think it's Star Fox-like?). I also hope Xenoblade makes it too. And, the best way to continue, of course, would be releasing GCN titles.

Only disappointing thing for me is the lack of Miiverse support. If they managed to get access to the Gamepad, I'm sure they could get Miiverse running for these games. Oh well... At least they appear on the daily log right?

Not sure if it was asked already(probably but I don't wanna go through 40 pages) but do disc based games that support CCP work with the WiiU gamepad or is it just the downloadable ones?

Can't seem to play SMG2 on my monitor, can only play it on my gamepad. Help??
Are you sure you're choosing the right display option after clicking on SMG2? I made the mistake of choosing to display on the GamePad only and I was waiting for my tv screen to show something until I realized what I did wrong.

Bought SMG2 yesterday, couldn't resist that price. What i'm really looking forward to though is Metroid Prime. Can't wait to replay the trilogy.

There's been no confirmation either way. So, for the moment, only the titles announced to be released on the eShop support that feature... meaning that, at this very moment, no Wii game can be played with the Wii U Gamepad :/

Is Pandora's Tower actually good?

I saw one other reply, but i have to chime in because it doesn't get enough love. It's not amazing, but it's really different, weird, and interesting. The dungeon design and interactions with the small cast of characters were great. I think it had a couple too many and kind of dragged a bit closer to the end, but it was good enough that i finished it. Use the Wiimote and nunchuck if you play it. It has one of the most subtle and best uses of motion controls of any games on the system, and i can't imagine playing without being able to point and go.
I imported the Euro version weeks before it was announced by XSEED, and later sold my copy a few months ago thinking i wouldn't go back, but i'm really hoping they release it digitally in the US so i can give it another go. I'll probably buy another disk if it doesn't.

Just bought SMG2. I haven't tried it yet, but I think I'll be satisfied with having SMG2 downloaded for $10 no matter what.

What I'm really excited for is the Prime Trilogy because I've never actually played it. MPT kind of reminds me of Earthbound in a way -- a game that if you didn't play it when it first came out, you had a hard time getting later. I really hope to see more of these rarer games added for a fair price in the future.

I am actually reasonably impressed with how it looks on my 60inch. Obviously it is not as good as a remake, but the 1080 output and HDMI cable do seem to make a bit of a difference. I missed SMG2 and Metroid Prime 3, so this is a pretty good line up for me.

I bought Mario Galaxy 2 but I'm having a weird wiimote issue. The pointer seems to act choppy in game. When I'm back at the Wii U menu it is fine. I have two wiimotes and tried them both out. I can't figure out the reason. Any tips?

I am having the same issue and my sensor bar is set correctly. I wonder if it is because my sensor bar is sitting on top of my kinect? It wasnt a problem with pikmin 3.

There's an option to change the controller sensitivity. It'll show you if the Wiimote is picking up additional IR sources (or missing the sensor bar altogether). Think it's just under the Home menu while playing the game under controller settings?

It might be picking up your gamepad if that's on the charging dock, because I think that only works as a sensor bar once you go into Wii mode? Or it could be some other IR source like you said, although it's weird it only happens in Wii mode then.

I already have the Metroid Prime Trilogy on disc. I bought one of those Gamestop "Used" reprints a while ago.

But I'm actually interested in picking it up digitally, if for nothing else than to show my support for the franchise. That and the fact that having it on my console at all times is pretty awesome. :)

I hate to be so crass, but there's no excuse not to buy MPT if you do not have it. It is THREE games (pretty damn good ones) in one for potentially $10 if you buy first weeks.

I can't remember when I played them last (Corruption was probably the most recent, but even that was several years ago). But it will be great to see them on my Sony TV through the HDMI connection (which did a great job for Wii games, like Silent Hill: Shattered Memories)

Can't wait to face this bad boy again :D The series has some of the best Boss designs and boss battle designs in gaming.
