Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Maybe I just need to use y more. It just feels so disorienting and I never feel 100% in control. I'll give it some more time tomorrow. I can see why people like it. The precision in small movements is vital. I just spend so much time doing mental push-ups that I don't have time to splat anyone lol.

You feel it's an effort because your brain is slowly remapping itself and that takes some effort, it will eventually just come to you and it will be effortless again, it's the process of brain plasticity

I'm finding this very easy online so far. I'm guessing a lot of people probably have no competitive shooter experience. I've been top in every game by a considerable margin in terms of points and kills.

Very fun game but definitely needs more content.

I'm trying so many weapons but in the end I always come back to the Splat Logo. The perfect weapon for me would be the one in the single player campaign powered up.

Also the Ninja powerup thing feels so good.

so funny story

ever since getting the extended battery I've never seen the gamepad's low battery light

......until last night

I can now confirm that the extended battery makes the gamepad last around 8 hours

fuckin' Splatoon man

I knew I would like it but I am loving it more than I could have imagined. Here are my first impressions after spending some time with it last night.

Positives:
-Atmosphere and art style are amazing
-Love the music
-Quick matches that always leave you wanting to play one more match. Totally addicting to me.
-Love the game requiring strategy to be good instead of just mindless charging forward and killing.

Negatives:
-Wish there were more local multi player options. Example: the ability to have 2 local players play together online such as MK8 has or even a 4x4 local multi-player (2-4 players) with computer opponents
-Game is addicting, lol (I know this should be a positive)

Last match had pretty much their entire team zerg rushing our side from the very start, and they continued doing this for pretty much the entire match.

We won, obviously. All out offensives don't work as well in this game as they do in others.

New Squelcher is a pretty neat charger. Mines are awesome are the bazooka is good for close combat, a much better sub and special weapon combination than the first Squelcher

On the contrary, the more I play, the harder it is becoming to win the wars. People are stepping up their game really quickly.

You can't aim up and down with the right stick. It's super jarring for me and no amount of playing with it is getting me used to it.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am positive there is an option for precisely this. You can enable Y aiming for the right stick.

I'm just loving some of the tactics I find employing sometimes. Throwing a suction bomb while having the high ground and then forcing an opponent into a deadlock by shooting their way into a kill.

On the other hand I find myself laughably landing into a Killer Wail by doing a super jump.

There are so many "fuck yeah" moments here that are so satisfying.

yeah I started noticing that the end scores were leveling out a bit the more I played. at first I would routinely get over 1000 but towards the end of my session everyone on the team was pulling their weight so we'd all end with like 800.

The Japanese players are already just ahead of the game in every way

They are, but I've not found that really matters. Sure if your fighting 1 on 1 and don't have the Bubbler your probably going to get destroyed, but overall I think the game is pretty balanced.

Got to level 10 yesterday. Can't say I'm that good, but I definitely prefer having loadups with a defensive sub or special. And I definitely prefer closer quarters combat because I suck at aiming long range. Splattshot Jr. is my favorite so far but I'm trying to transition into .52 Gal.

There was a pretty annoying set of games where a couple of the players had the beacon for jumping and ninja jump while using rollers. They would just kind of pop up of nowhere and splat you. Playing defensively on your end of the map is pretty hard because it's so hard to spot where the enemy is hiding in. Any spot could be a death trap... maybe that's the downside of using short-range weapons and focusing on close quarter combat.

The weapon combinations definitely feel a bit limited and intentionally so. I definitely would like to try something like .52 Gal + Wall + Echolocator but most of the loadouts don't really give me what I want. Another downside I've found to playing the charger is how difficult it is to build your specials up unlike the other two.

Loving this game but it's been taken by my wife and 5 year old daughter who just tear around with the roller.

Why on earth doesn't this have voice chat?

Same here. I'm landing in games with loads of Japanese people right now too; like, sometimes I'm the only one with an english name. They've all got freakin' crazy unlocks, man.

Btw, two more comments. First, people complaining about no chat were wrong. The game doesn't need it. It's fast paced and matches don't last long, plus the team organizing, at least for the current mode, is minimal. Maybe a pointing system would be better. Touching a certain part of the screen to show to your teammates where to go.
I agree. The negatives associated with voice chat would far outweigh the gains. Also, some of the sub-weapon design and abilities seem based around not having a direct way to communicate.

There is kind of a "pointing system", use the d-pad. Your position is indicated to your team.

Yeah haha. Unlike a lot of games I'm finding that most moments where I'm at a heavy disadvantage I don't feel compelled to rage quit, I just want to get better. The game has so much intricate depth in it that I want to explore.

I'm on mostly Japanese games and still coming top. If their gear is better then they're not using it right clearly.

Japanese players aren't that superior to others, I think. At least not yet. Hadn't noticed much difference between playing against them and playing against people from other countries.

I'm doing a pause for some minutes before going back online.
I ordered a gear and it's gonna cost me 30k, so I've to grind 25k money for tomorrow :)

I just retested the sniper for the first time since the demo, and I've some good scores. Maybe I will end up with it again. That said, I'm currently with the splatshot with the longest range, and it's pretty cool. Stay safe far from anyone and I can take on snipers too.

So I don't want to be a donald downer here but I don't really understand the praise for the last boss in splatoon. I'd been hearing about how great it was but really it was just a generally fine last boss, nothing outstanding about it.

Japenese had the game since Monday I think, they are ALL over level 10. Who cares, I'm splatting them all (mostly... kinda).
No, they only had it since the 28th, which, due to time zones, started for them when it was still the 27th in the Americas... so they've only had it for like about one-and-half to two extra days more than most of the rest of us.

The best part are music and boss' animations, the whole fight was fun for me, very starfox-like. Not the best boss fight in years but still pretty good.

I heard that day one had been broken very soon there.

¥5,540 for the downloadable version. Should I go for it or wait for the physical copy to be back in stock? I don't really care about being able to re-sell later on.

It's not Platinum level (what is though), but it was flashy and fun and it felt good to beat it.

The music, the use of the games' mechanics, the music, the boss' design, the music, the visuals, the music. So good. It is fine if you didn't like it, BUT I LOVED IT

That's not skipping :P
What a stupid thing to include. I don't care if it's only for 10-15 seconds, it shouldn't be there at all after the first time. Didn't Nintendo learn anything from the Wii Motion Plus fiasco in Japan?

What was that?

I assume from the context, there was a 10 second video talking about how great Motion Plus is every time you plugged it into the remote...?

God I wish there was an Aerospray with a Killer Wail special. The inkzooker's okay but I really want a fire-and-forget, and the missile needs me to look at the map...

The gyro controls are terrible. Thank god you can turn them off.
Played any singleplayer? That's where I really started getting the hang of them. Turf war is too hectic to learn the controls. Now I'm loving the gyro controls.
Other than that, it's a shame that there's so little content, for now at least. There are only 2 stages(I'm not sure how they change but I guess it's timed) and only Turf War. It got boring after few hours. I'd prefer if there was at least one more mode at the launch.
Well there's 5 maps, 2 are 'active' every 4 hours. And one more mode is unlocking soon when more people hit lvl10.
Also if you got the game yesterday and already finished singleplayer and played a few hours of turf war, you've been playing a lot. Take a break, come back to it. Right now the game isn't quite targeted at binge players. That said, I can't see myself getting bored of the multi anytime soon. Freshest online experience in years.

I'm on a bad losing streak. What should I do?
Play more defensive. Look at the map, target areas that aren't claimed or where there isn't a lot of fighting. Cover the ground and make sure you don't run into situations where the enemy has an ink advantage. You want to have mobility to switch into squidform and pull back, flank, pop out, attack, pop into ink again.

You must not have run into teams of high-level japanese players. Dayum.

Yea, upgrading weapon sis pointless. I fianlly won again going back to Jr.

Newer weapons you get are not upgrades. They are different from the previous weapons, that's all. They may suit your style more, or less. The primary difference is the sub/special loadout.
