Aaagh. Game have been a nightmare.

My order was cancelled yesterday. They have valid card payment details from me, but I believe that my cards fraud protection stopped the payment going through. I didn't notice the email from game until after 8pm yesterday when they close.

I contacted them this morning and have been told that they cannot reinstate the order. They have said if the order doesn't go out with the main "early" batch it cant be sent at all. i.e I would now have to wait a month to get the controller!

Oh my days GAME have shipped

Great news! Your order has been dispatched and will be delivered soon

Sadly checked and they have sent via Royal Mail with no tracking - well played GAME - ediots.

Wow I just cancelled my order a few days ago thankfully! decided to hold off on this and go for the Xbox one elite controller, guess I got a stroke of luck for a change.

Well, it's not the end of the world, just likely means a drive to pick it up from the sorting office as I've no idea when it will come now.

Mine's shipped too! Ah, it might not be Royal Mail though, they never seem to bother putting the actual name of the courier on the order details, but I have got quite a few delivered by DPD when the details said Royal Mail.

I thought this too, so grabbed them on web chat, they confirmed RM.

Yeah got the email this morning. It was always stated as shipping via Royal Mail 1st Class. Generally there don't tend to be too many problems with them, but it would always be more helpful to be recorded delivery of special delivery for hardware type stuff. Ah well, should be here for the 16th

Well, that's a shame. Thought they'd send it out via proper courier seeing as it's hardware.

Still, I've been lucky so far with Royal Mail, and the parcel van usually shows up really early here, so should be fine.

The 16th is still in the future, how can you say it has already happened?

I was talking about the person that had a un-shipped controller and had a delivery date for today. It's not happening. That also applied to those of us who had a delivery day of the 10th and now we're getting it 6 days later. Oh and i'm from the future.

Mine had originally had a ship date of 10/9 and est. Delivery date of 10/13, now its stuck in "Pending" with no estimated delivery date

Got mine too! Usual it does turn up the next day so hopefully there will be a pretty package at work waiting for me in the morning, if not we should all have them by the 16th!

No mention about the preorder bonus, hopefully that comes packaged with it.

Looks like its in Time - till the 16th of October:

Will GameStop have these in store early?

I doubt it. Seemingly it's just for those who pre-ordered early. Everyone else has to wait till Nov 10th.

That also reminds me. I popped into Game today. Not only do they have a Steam section, but they have also increased the PC section now. It's fairly wide. They sell PC gaming hardware peripherals, like mice, keyboard and stuff. Lots of Steam Wallet cards, BattleNet and something else. They don't have any space for any of the Steam Hardware though, probably because they still won't be selling them for a month or so.

So I got a reply back from EB (online) in Canada. They said that everything is still good on their end for October 16th even though the order page has the November date. When I was picking up Wasteland 2 yesterday I also asked in-store about what was going on for online pickup orders and was told they are still waiting on the OK from head office but that everything should be good to release on Friday for preorders.

I'm putting up a Link thread which also is going to be the IHS thread going forward. Won't be an OT.

What's the difference between an OT and what you are doing, which seems like it (at least in my mind) would fit in the same kind of category? There definitely needs to a solid place to put info and updates of IHS and Link. I think they'll be improved over time and there are a lot of interesting ways to make it better, or accidentally worse, that could do with a single place to understand them

I mean it won't be called "xy OT | insert funny subtitle". And I think OTs usually get put into the community after a while?

I was wondering about this because I don't really think it should end up a community thread, but more of a resource that I put into the PC threads thing. I notice Mr Orange also mentioned no gaming OTs for that thread, even though there is a controller thread section to put it in..... so, should it be an OT or should it not?

I don't know. Ask a mod how it goes. If as an OT it can stay in this section or if you want it to stay don't name it OT? Ultimately, the OP itself will be full of info, but if there's a meaningful update there will be separate threads in this section and most activity after a while might be just people talking about bindigs and such.

No idea.

Yeah, thanks. I think I'm going to follow the format Orange was using, and simply call it the Steam Controller Thread. My reasoning for doing it in the first place was to have it as a resource for the issues, updates and collaboration on bindings, so it makes sense to do it as such rather than an OT. In the end the OP for it is pretty much information based rather than impressions / reviews and alike.

I was going to wait before looking into buying a steam controller but I walked into a gamestop to use a coupon expiring soon and asked about it. Turns out they're due in stock on the 16th. Had enough PUR points for a $50 off any item coupon so I put $5 down to hold the preorder and will pick up on friday.

Now to just get my newly built PC up and running in time to try this thing out. Having monitor signal issues.

I wonder how much of the Steam Link will be different from regular in home streaming; should be the same software stack running the data.

I assumed it really wouldn't be any different. Just a dedicated piece of hardware for the task instead of using laptops, tablets, etc.

You are the 2nd person to say this. Heading to gamestop lol

According to one of the Valve folk it has an "ARMv7 processor with dedicated h.264 video decoding circuitry, running a custom Linux kernel and a Valve-developed software stack"

From that alone, it sounds like it will be pretty much focused on the Streaming and maybe a UI for the sake of connection status etc rather than running something like BPM. I think the only meaningful difference vs using another PC or laptop is that Link uses 2x2 MIMO antenna's. In theory that should allow for a more stable / stronger connection wirelessly and maybe even better performance if you have an 802.11ac compliant router rather than g or n, since link is 802.11ac compliant.

As a side note, I'd switch away from 2.4ghz, and go with 5ghz, which worked wonders for me. Not tried the updated wifi streaming stuff Valve have in beta though.

I've only used in home streaming with a hardwired connection and plan to do the same with the Link. It should be interesting to find out what gains/losses I see going to the Link from the laptop I normally use. In-home streaming via ethernet and configured properly has been rock solid for me thus far.

Going to be mad bitter when I don't have mine Friday after ordering on Steam the moment they went up.

It seems like they are just trotting out this line to quite a few people, I am sure you are about the 3rd person to have said that.
Called up Gamestop and they said they're having technical difficulties with me switching to Paypal :/

Asked the rep if my order was still in October and seemed generally clueless by only mentioning the November date.

Switching to ordering from Valve. This experience has really soured me on Gamestop..

Yeah, seems ridiculous. Gamestop have both dates listed for the same product listing, which might be what is causing the confusion. Game UK had two separate listings for each product and their alternate release dates, which might have helped the situation. Although there was already someone annoyed that there was a payment issue that screwed up their order. Those sorts of things should be worked out way earlier really

Don't toy with me.

Steam sent me an email Monday saying the item was preparing to be shipped. Estimated ship date was the 12th and estimated delivery was the 14th. It has not been shipped yet. Tracking just says that the shipping info was sent to FedEx. This is frustrating.

Gamestop.com just did an authorization for my Steam Controller and Steamlink which usually happens a day or two before they ship them. Of course, I chose value shipping, so I probably won't actually receive them until next week.

It seems more and more likely that Valve has arranged for the package to arrive on the 16th for everyone (at least in the U.S.) especially considering the Fed Ex Home Delivery service is supposed to be a day definite service.

Depending how far you live from IL (or wherever you are getting your package from) it might end up just being next day.
