Did they patch out the sewer guy in the store? I havent seen him in ages

Maybe explit related or just RNGesus?

Alright well I think I'm finally able to get to floor 4 consistently, but I have trouble traversing it without losing a ton of health. Haven't gotten really good practice yet on the bosses either.

I also unlocked the 3rd floor elevator. I like that they give you a choice of guns to start with there but they're usually not great.

Here is a little trick for getting some quick money:

They nerfed this on PC, it only gives you like 3-4 coins instead of around 50+. Still works on PS4 though.

That's ultimately my biggest worry about this game, is that the devs end up over-balancing things and end up getting rid of too many special or fun things like that.

I will say it feels pretty damn balanced to me right now though. Even guns that I've gotten from floors 1-3 that are really good still don't feel OP. No one item feels like it guarantees a win so far, which I really like.

got to the floor 4 boss (stupid wall) with just 2 hearts and 1 armor and almost killed it ;_;

I did mention there are a number of ways to get items and weapons without keys, so there are alternative methods turn a run around.
Here's 6 ways on the top of my head:
Using blanks to the blank statue (which you can do multiple times!)

Oh shit, I didn't know that last part.

Interesting.

It's a pain in the ass, because the boss health is increased hugely and then my friends die in the boss room and I have to kill the same boss that has double the health they usually have.

This creates a huge problem with ammunition because either way the boss takes double the number of bullets as usually yet you do not seem to have anywhere near double the number of bullets or guns.

It makes some bosses feel several times harder than they usually would be. I found bosses like the
four floor mage
especially hard, as the fight would take me in excess of 5 minutes if my team mate died. Even if I survived the room we'd be entering the 5th floor with 0 ammunition.

I'd like to hear what other people think regarding co-operative play but at the moment I'm thinking it could use a rebalance.

The elevator guy wants ~120 bullets and three keys for the Chamber 2 shortcut. In two runs, I've killed every single enemy in the first two chambers yet I still didn't have enough bullets or keys! Keys I can probably figure out but I'm not sure what to do about the bullets.

Do I have to look into secret rooms? Because I'm having trouble finding those.

If the sewer guy is in the shop you could blow up any chests and sell him the junk. This returns plenty of bullets, on the PS4 version at least.

Seems like bullet drops are random so you just need to get lucky like with the keys I guess. If that slimy dude in the shop is there you can try selling weapons and items to get enough bullets if you don't have enough by just clearing the floors. Yesterday when I finally got those items myself, I had 3 keys and 126 bullets in chamber 1 before entering the elevator to chamber 2 for some reason without selling anything. I still don't know how that happened, I must have gotten extremely lucky with bullet drops.

Yeah although the game is pretty controlled compared to some other rogue-lites, there's actually a lot of RNG.

I finished stage 1 with seven hearts, two shields and 70 bullets yesterday. I thought that was pretty crazy at the time.

I once finished the first floor with 4 hearts, 2 shields, 4 guns (including Fightsabre!), and 3 keys. That was a pretty awesome run.

I am dying in Chamber 2 lol. Those mobs get brutal man...and spongy.

Wow is it that difficult? Maybe I should really hold on buying this until later (been going back and forth on it lol). I already have Salt and Sanctuary and that already is pretty difficult.

Is the Witch PIstol an Outlaw Star reference? It kinda looks like Gene's Caster gun, which could shoot magic. The gun's description doesn't contain any overt references though.

Did you win though? I did not, despite such a good start, it all went to hell on floor 4 and 5. :(

Feels so disappointing when everything goes right and you still lose.

I tried to get more chests from the "blanks altar" and I only got one chest. Maybe it is patched out to get more since you can abuse that mechanic to some degree.

On the same run I got two awesome weapons: the shock rifle which is a high damage rifle with great range, firerate, and accuracy and very decent damage, and bloober which is a very powerful shotgun with enormous knockback. Cool stuff.

I need something to hold me over for the few remaining days before Dark Souls 3, and my paycheck just arrived.

People of GAF, should I get this or Salt and Sanctuary?

Fightsaber is OP, holy shit.

I decided to try and do a quick Pilot run on my lunch break to (mission spoiler)
try and get the 3 key/120 money
- instead I ended up beating the first floor with a near perfect run (no hit the first boss) and got the Fightsaber on the second floor along with two armor drops and I beat the second floor boss for the first time and now I'm on the third floor for the first time but I have to get back to work. :(

I love this game.

I have both, have played about 20 minutes of SaS and 6+ hours of EtG. SaS is much more like Souls but this is much more addicting from a pick up and play perspective.

S&S is going to take you longer than 3 days probably, this is pick up and play for 30 mins here and there.

So are most people still diggin the Pilot? I find that the Marine pistol is just so good. I can clear chamber1-4 with it. (4 is not consistent though)

Thanks guys, picking this up then since it sounds right for my mood right now! Haven't watched much except for 5 minutes of the Northernlion let's play just now, and just want to confirm - it plays well with only a 360 controller? I'm on laptop without a mouse currently.

Pilot is bad in the short term. His gun is terrible. But his passive abilities and the lockpick make him good in the long term. IMO anyway. The Marine is the easiest to play for sure, he's a good pick if you're just starting out.

Here is a little trick for getting some quick money:

You can shoot of the locks from chests with guns that have finite ammo. This sometimes result in you getting the items inside the chest, but most of the time you will get some junk. If you give this passive and useless item to the little guy under the grate he will give you a bunch of money. There's a gold shell in it for you which is worth a lot (don't know the exact amount. I managed to gather 3 junks in my most recent run so I was pretty much loaded.

Just a heads up: This has been patched for the PC version at least.
I gave him three pieces of junk and got three bullets for each one. People on the Gungeon sub-Reddit are reporting the same. No idea if this is how it was intended all along, but it was pretty demoralizing to miss out on all those bullets when I really could've used them.

I've been playing on PS4 and have had no issues with the controller. Pretty sure you can remap buttons to your own preference as well if you don't like the setup.

My main problem at the moment is getting good at dodging the more chaotic bullet waves from bosses. I can get through most chambers without getting hit but I almost always lose a ton of health on bosses :(
Same here. I can get all the way to the boss without being hit, then I'm toast

Fuck, made it to c5. Some fucking hammer is following me around, lost like 2 armor and maybe 1.5 hearts thinking I could kill it.

RIP.

It seems I have a problem with the elevator guy (the one that gives you the shotcuts).
He was the first one I saved in my 3rd run and now I'm in my 30th run and I haven't seen him even once in the gungeon!
He is in the breach and I talked to him and I cleared the first and second stage with zero damage taken but he still doesn't show.
Bug, bad luck or am I doing something wrong?

Jump down the elevator shaft.

there should be a sign in the elevator shaft of the second floor pointing down, jump down there

Reached chamber 4 and died at the boss(
Pillars
). Man, chamber 4 is pretty cool and even though it has tough enemies, the
darker
atmosphere makes for a welcome change.
