Enter The Gungeon |OT| Praise the gun

Put in 5/6 hours now and still can't even make it to the boss on the second floor. Game is destroying me.

Maybe too much time with binding of isaac. Not utilizing my jump/dodge roll thingy enough.

Also find the passive items are few and far between and rarely feel like they're helping me out much.

Would love to see a save option as well for when I have a good run going but need to stop playing for what ever reason. Was doing really well, had some kick ass guns and had to stop on the second floor. Went to boot the game up later and started right at the beginning again :(

I like how people in this thread are ending up using the same terminology I've been making up as I play.

Need a boss killer weapon by room 3, would like a room clear weapon by room 4.

Need some sort of stat, preferably from perfecting room 1 / 2 boss.

I've yet to get all 3 in a run because I have shit luck at key drops.

If you're struggling with keys I would suggest not opening brown chests. They offer the worst loot and it's a risk to use a key on one. Save the keys for colored chests.

I wish there would be more ammo drops. By the time I reached floor 5 most of my best guns were empty or nearly empty, with no ammo at the shop. Also, the light gun destroys bosses. That duck that flies out at the end of a clip stays on them and does great damage. It's also good for room clearing.

I'm so happy whenever I fight the Gatling Gull in a location with solid cover

Yeah, it's basically a free health upgrade whenever that happens :p

Oh yeah. He's beyond easy in that library.

I've also wondered if that fight is supposed to be an homage to Vulcan Raven? Especially when it takes place there, the room is very similar.

I straight up hard reset if I get double brown chest on floor one.

Only good thing out of them is the hookshot, which is god.

Best and most consistent room / boss clear gun I've used so far is The Scrambler.

If there's a gun muncher on that floor, I'll put the shit guns together and get a pea shooter again then reset.

Yeah brown chests are rarely if ever worth it. Took a while to realize that since the game is stingy with keys, I need to be stingy using them.

You get an item that adds a heart container (and is needed to construct the shortcut elevators), and yes, a shield hit counts as a hit.

It's not always the same item every time. I got a Maiden Shield (or whatever it's called) when I managed it.

There's a ton of MGS references in this other than raven, pretty sure it's the most referenced thing in here besides Zelda

Yes it is. You always get a random item after beating a boss but when you don't take a hit you get a second pedestral with the special item.

So, during a run I was thinking the classic flare gun from Blood really should be in the Gungeon and then I found it. It was pretty good too. :D

Things I've seen referenced:

MGS
Zelda
Futurama
Nuclear Throne
Cowboy Bebop
Counter-Strike
HALO

There's more, but this is all I remember off the top of my head.

Sling is a boss killer. It does increased damage against strong enemies, which is every boss.

Yeah it's one of my favorite items, you can buy it for dirt cheap and then focus the rest of your arsenal for room clearing.

Ultimately not having a distinct "this is the best weapon for the boss/room clearing" is what fucks me up half the time. I'm so busy mentally trying to compare DPS between different weapons that I get hit. Mainly because I'm either focusing on the boss health bar or number of shots to kill mobs instead of the actual fight.

That and being too damn stingy with my blanks.

Finally got to the fourth floor, had to face [spoilrer]The Wall[/spoiler] I did okay, got it down to half health, but I came in with only 1.5 hearts of life, so it was a losing proposition from the get go.

Shotgun full of love is such an insane room clear weapon, you can breeze through chamber 4 with ease. I'm still not sold on the BSG, it's too slow for later chamber bosses.

That reminds me of a question I had about charming (that I was too scared to test): will charmed enemy bullets still damage you if they hit?

Sling stacks with Omega Bullets, which I wasn't expecting but makes sense since there is only 1 "round" in the clip.

Just had a winning run with the Hunter. It was driven completely by the
owl. Any +effect on Blank items you have work on its blanks, AND it body blocks bullets.

They don't, but it's very finicky, if you charmed them while they were in a middle of an attack animation the bullets will still hurt you. This makes all the big guys' bullets extremely unreliable since their animations are long.

Yay finally beat it! Now to build the gun that kills the past. I had luck with some bosses. Fought medusa, the rolling ball thing and the high priest. No tank or friggin pillars! I also had the amazing shotgun full of love and the ice gun that freezes enemies, one of the best room clears guns in my opinion so far.

Any details on this?

I almost beat the final boss last night. I'd like to see if I can finish the vanilla version as well.

Just that the patch came out on PC and it tweaked the drop rate of keys.

I've personally not had any problems with keys except for
trying to unlock the elevator shortcut.

Uuuuuh, her name's Meduzi.

:p

I've heard of this "tank" but literally every time I've gotten to the end of the third chamber I've fought the stupid cannonball. Hate that thing.

But the Cannonballrog is the easiest of the Chamber 3 bosses. When you fight the tank, you'd wish it was that cannonball.

So what is the deal with the green guy with the helmet that hangs out in the breach and doesn't do anything but if you interact with his helmet it falls into the Gungeon and he goes after it. I found him locked in a cell again and freed him but he just returns to the Breach. What else is there to do with this guy?

If you do that 3 times you'll unlock his blast helmet.

Seems people have different hard bosses.

I don't know how people are saying the Gorgun is the easiest boss on Level 2 for example.

This happened in my last run. It's like looking in the mirror.

I find if you stay away from her and attack from afar most of her bullet attacks are easy to dodge, you can roll dodge through her attack that turns you to stone and you can easily weave through the bullet attack that comes in repeating waves with small gaps to run through. I guess the poison on the floor can be a pain but its fairly easy to avoid that as well.

She is the only second level boss I can beat without damage consistently even without an awesome gun.

The circular attack where she leaves a little gap in the bullet hell that spins counter-clockwise can be tricky, depending where she and you are in the room. Other than that she's pretty easy.

You can also get the "regular shotgun" from brown chests, which is surprisingly good. It's a great room clearer

Here's a video of an awesome run I had earlier. Megahand = :O

I think it depends on the weapons you have available also. The tank is the toughest boss in Chamber 3 most of the time, but if you have a proton pack he becomes as easy as the Chamber 1 bosses, since he can't teleport to break the beam.

I really enjoy using the sniper, M1 and other "long-range" guns for room clearing, at least on first two levels (my regular haunts). I tend to do better with automatic weapons vs. bosses, really not even sure how much damage the sniper-type guns normally deal out to bosses.

Gorgun's an easy boss for a few reasons:

1) Predictable bullet patterns

2) Patterns that are really easy to dodge

3) No ads

Basically the thing that are liable to fuck you up on bosses is randomness and there's basically none with Gorgun. All the bullets come from the same spot and they're all easy to avoid.

I feel the same, I am not that happy with the L3 + R3 mapping for blanks on the PS4, I tend to click the sticks by accident when things start getting hectic.

Anyone got any suggested alternate button mappings for the DS4?
I have the encyclopedia on Left Click and the map on Select, and moved Blanks on Left Shoulder. Faster and easier to activate
