Agreed, PS3 was just lower in every respect - large numbers of indie titles weren't 60 on it either, and retail releases were both more numerous and more consistently 30(or lower) than in PS2 or PS4 gen.dark10x said:On PS3 it's less than 30% in comparison. Again, just a small subsection, but still fascinating.
Yea it does sound like an interesting project to explore, maybe starting with retro consoles...I would be curious to see the actual number.
if 60FPS is that important, it amazes me that you guys don't play on PC.
You can get the eye candy and the FPS
if the PS4 were 10 times as powerful as it actually is, we would still have mostly 30fps games

I'm not fussed on framerate increase a'la 30 -> 60, but i do expect a rock steady stable framerate with no drops from Pro versions, even if it is at 30.
I'll get right on that once horizon is released and is $5 on a steam saleif 60FPS is that important, it amazes me that you guys don't play on PC.

1080 with 60fps was my desire for the pro. Guess I'll just wait till there is a new ps5.

Good news! Pro has that.1080 with 60fps was my desire for the pro.
That won't change anything.Tregdor1123 said:Guess I'll just wait till there is a new ps5.
I guess I'll pick up bloodborbe and the uncharted series at the same time. Should be a $20 bundle.

Voting with your wallet for 1080p60 games now will.

I ordered a pro, first non Nintendo console for me since ps2 😜
Look, I love 60 fps. I don't obsess on it like some, but it's a strong preference. That said, the others on here are right. The power will 95% always be applied to increased bells and whistles.

Never heard of Bloodborbe but Uncharted should be on sale too.

Id rather use the money for another 4K set. Those aren't the only games ever.
BTW you can still play them on your PS4 if you get a PC for the fancy gfx/fps which is what I do

This argument is silly, a locked 60 is not confirmed on any hardware for Every title.Hope you're not expecting a solid 60fps there.
If you want 60fps on PlayStation may as well go pick up a PS2.

You pick what suits you best, higher end Pc is the safer option for that choose but in the last few years we have seen enough titles to proof that is not the case.
In the end solid, locked 30 with a flat 33ms delivery with Pomb is perfectly acceptable.

Leadbetter says not to get your hopes up regarding SATA III due to the "copying bandwidth" being really low.
Power extreme...extreme...treme.....Some of us want better than acceptable, we want excelling super responsiveness extreme!
Power will go where enough people are willing to pay for it. Never was the issue.
Explain.
Who's asking for this?
As I said, power was never the issue.
Jesus fucking christ guys
So we agree that devs like money.Devs put resources to work for what sells games to the greatest number of people.
Don't be. Devs like money.I'm a skeptic of "voting with your wallet" for an issue
And you know this...how?that only a small percentage of gamers will take seriously.
Explain to me how "30fps is fine" = "I don't want a 60fps mode" ?Even on Gaf, a huge proportion of people say that 30fps is fine...and this is the home to discerning gamers.
There was a time when they didn't know what the word "graphics" meant either.I can't see a day, soon, at Best Buy when average consumers are asking if a game is 60fps.
It doesn't.So yes, power factors in, because devs need power to spare before they prioritze framerate.
History illustrates that.
That's almost too logical for most folks though.
PC is great, but you don't get the Last of Us, the Uncharted's, the God of War's and so and so... plus, you have a lot more problems to deal with in every game and a lot of multiplatform games come much later to PC (Rockstar, years later or never) or are bad ports with crippling performance.
And btw, 30fps gameplay on consoles has always been much smoother than 30fps on PC, still today even with the most powerful and expensive GPU's.
30 fps on console is smoother than 30 fps pc? I'm not even sure what that means.
I wonder if Richard's comments like:
Or the comment about "the main issues for me are going to be fan noise, ... "
are not just simple guesswork but actually informed by testing they've already done - but can't openly talk about yet. What is this "copying bandwidth" he talks about?
Think he means vsync'd 30 on console compaeed to Pc since most Pc games don't have a vsync locked 30fps option so most people play it unlocked, for the people more in the know they can do it through nvidia driver etc not many people know that. Also motion blur with 3030 fps on console is smoother than 30 fps pc? I'm not even sure what that means.
Just because your average gamer has low standards doesn't mean we all accept it.

Yes, I suppose that's true. The sheer number of indie titles and PSVR certainly helps. I would be curious to see the actual number. I own about 250 PS2 games, a tiny fraction of the overall library, and was impressed to discover that about 65% of them are 60fps. On PS3 it's less than 30% in comparison. Again, just a small subsection, but still fascinating.
