The whole point of having characters in the game is for cross-promotion. Retroactively, Deadpool, Rocket Raccoon, and Dr. Strange ended up being relevant choices. I want to live in a world where Capcom can release DLC characters for the big upcoming movies, and all this contract stuff isn't so restrictive. Imagine the Infinity War movie and Capcom being able to release

Despite some questionable character omissions I largely agree. UMvC3 is my favorite of the series from a roster and gameplay perspective.

If this MvC4 exists and turns out to be a bust, this is still a great opportunity for the back catalog to get on current gen and PC. UMvC3 and MvC2 on PC would make me all set really.

For some reason, I feel like it's gonna be a Marvel game w/ guest Capcom characters. Maybe they'll make another Marvel Super Heroes War of the Gems to tie EVERY Marvel IP that is out/going to come out.

What I think is amazing is that UMvC3 had a lot of characters from upcoming movies that weren't announced yet so it's cool to see them plan so far ahead.

SFV's graphics wouldn't be suitable for MVC, and it would be the perfect opportunity to recycle SFV's assets. Capcom and SNK have also been leveraging their characters in other ip recently.

They've been banned from more games then they've been in after CoC dropped. The only game that was able to include Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch post-ban was Lego Avengers.

MVS system was cheap as fuck and you could put multiple cartridges in one cabinet, so you'd just replace the cartridge of old games with newer ones, this got a foothold on the 90's.

SNK machines always outnumbered capcom machines in arcades, pharmacies and convenience stores.

Then in the 2000's with the advent of PC based emulation machines (yes, i know, ilegal, you think convinience store cared?) multi arcades kept getting the newest SNK games while alternatives (such as capcom games) were harder or impossible to emulate (if you ever saw a CPS3 machine, it was legit), to you could always go to your closest convinience store and challenge peeps to KOF.
