Horizon Zero Dawn livestream

Lmao.

It should be

Horizon OT: Breath of the Wild

Then the Zelda OT 3 days later should be

The Legend of Zelda OT: Zero Dawn

misclicks for days. That's what people get for endlessly comparing the two.

I don't mind OTs that borrow another game's identity/name, but in the case of stuff proposed here, feels like it's a bit snarky and invites distinct comparison.

Mine is a more generic one, but...

Horizon Zero Dawn |OT| Rise of the Machines

In reference to Terminator 3 (sentient robots), Planet of the Apes (post-post apocalyptic) & Rise of the Tomb Raider. (third-person bow/arrow action game with RPG elements starring female protagonist)

Agreed. Personally, I always prefer thematically relevant titles rather than snarky ones

I've been thinking of a "Dawn/Rise of the Planet of the *insert word here*" OT title but I can't seem to make anything roll off the tongue quite as nicely as the Planet of the Apes movie titles (or as much is possible with a title like that).

I think it would be pretty fitting for what the game appears to be.

Watched the youtube vid, reminds me a lot of Primal, but I loved Primal so that is a good thing. Might have to borrow a PS4.

Horizon Zero Dawn |OT|: Optimus Primal

I get the Zelda references for the OT and I'll admit, clever as hell. But it just seems it's just a release date the two have somewhat in common.

Horizon Zero Dawn |OT|

But in a serious way...

I think this is the best option. Couldn't think of anything better

Horizon OT: But why is all the rum gone?

An Obscure reference to the first pirates of the carribean film who's last line is "Bring me the Horizon"

If we're avoiding game references then

Horizon Zero Dawn |OT| of the Planet of the Mechs

works for me.

If not, "Breath of the Wired" is fantastic haha

Real surprise to see bandit fighting robo, hope it's not scripted.
We heard about it at the unveiling at E3 2015. They said that Thunderjaw had just finished fighting with some people from another tribe and it had about half of its health left.

So, it still took Aloy quite a bit to take down a weakened Thunderjaw.

Would I like this if I like infamous series??

I like assassins creed. How much of an RPG is this? Is it more action-y? I'm into games like tomb raider, mad max, the last of us, the last guardian, infamous, ratchet and clank, uncharted.

I couldn't get into skyrim, or witcher of far cry games.

I have a feeling you'll like Horizon. it is much more action than skyrim and witcher. but it has more rpg element than assassin creed, tomb raider or infamous.

for the action, it's mainly ranged combat, so it's a bit more shooter feel than typical rpg like witcher and skyrim. and some games you mention liked are shooter, and games like Last of Us really ask you to be precise with your aim, looking for headshot to preserve ammo etc. in Horizon, you also need to be precise with your aiming, target specific spot for good damage.

the game structure is more typical open world rpg though. which could be problematic for you since you mention you can't get into skyrim, witcher.

but imo, game structure is less of a problem if you already like the core combat gameplay. at the very least, you can just rush to the next story point and just focus on the combat.

and the combat in this looks great, the machines are in particular looks very unique and fun to fight, they had a lot of moves and attack animation compared to your typical shooter enemies. and even when you already discover how to kill 1 of them with ease, the game can mix them up and let you fight multiple enemies at once etc.

Happened twice.

During the Shellwalker fight 2 of them try and steal the kill.
Some dumb bandit attacking a Thunderjaw gets absolutely vaporized.

I just want to lure a Saw Tooth into a bandit camp and see what happens.

Killzone 2 is godly.

Agreed. Killzone 2 is Guerrilla Games when they're not rushed, imho. Every other project they've had more of a time push. KZ3 was released like two years after KZ2. Shadow Fall was a rushed PS4 launch title.

I think Horizon was given plenty of time, and without the shackles or expectations of being a top tier shooter...it can just do its own thing.

It still amazes me how much hate their games get, I really hope the game is critically well received to put them to rest.

They have 2 out of 4 critically well received games already. Doubt horizon changes those ppls minds.

They've been working on this for like six years, since 2011

Oh, they won't be put to rest. They'll adapt and come up with ways to circumvent the critical praise. We see it now with Killzone 2.

Honestly, I don't think it matters if people don't come around on GG if the game reviews well. With how it's being positioned, it's poised to sell extremely well. And if this ends up being another case similar to UC4, where you have the ratings, sales and awards but some still dislike the game...

I was thinking that is exactly how it would end up. Great sales, great meta, etc... but it will be detested by some and they will be rather vocal about it. If it puts GG on the map and Sony deems it a success, I would gladly take that.

I don't say this often but this will be one of the greats. Last time I said it was for ffxv, tlg, gravity rush 2, yakuza 0,nioh. So believe me Xp

Y'all are just inviting that uncharted train to roll into this thread too lol

None of the Awards in the world will deter me from my opinion that UC4 leans on its most shallow facets for far too long and destroys its own gameplay pacing in the process.

I don't think Horizon will suffer the same fate, partly because the Shallow elements are actually complementary (instead of being the main meat like in UC4) for the most part and the game seems to do a lot of make these weaker mechanics relatively unobtrusive.

Frankly, I think Horizon will be a great game with minor blemishes overall that prevent it from being an absolute classic but with the opportunity of a sequel to streamline issues.
