I really didn't like Doom: Eternal, so I'm super excited for this one. Loved that they pivoted, Doom Eternal was a bit too much.

I'm so baffled by these mechanics and aesthetics in a Doom game. Dragon flying, mechs, parrying, blocking all this shit. I get wanted to shake things up but...it's Doom not the devs' random Action Game canvas.

I'm sure it's a fine game in its own right but I look at rhe footage and wonder how this isn't some Resident Evil 6 level Michael Bay idiocy.

How so? That game was incredible

Eternal significantly took away player agency compared to 2016. Even on normal difficulty you HAD to play it the way they wanted you to or you were significantly punished. It also made no fucking sense that the big bad Doom Slayer could only hold 12 fucking shotgun shells.

Sad to hear there's no Quake tie-in.

I really do hope they're doing Quake next. Or at least something else.

This is a big bummer and I hope so too. Would love to see this team's vision on a rebooted Quake. Getting Reznor back on the OST is a requirement though.

Anyway, my CE is getting delivered Monday and I am beyond stoked.

I haven't watched a full review because I don't want too many location spoilers, but scrubbing through a few I'm really not seeing anything exciting or encouraging. I'm not saying it looks horrible or even bad, but I'm not rushing out to preorder it on a Steam when I can stroll through it on Gamepass. I'm hyped to play Day 1 and if it wasn't on Gamepass I'd most likely buy it Day 1, but it looks a little off.

Looks like a 7/10 $30 game. $40 tops IMO. The game will be fine. Just not $70/$100 fine.

He said it was his GOTY till that point of the year. There weren't many big rpgs released by then. He ultimately ended up giving it to Indiana Jones.

In a youtube video the reviewer said he didn't use a grenade launcher or rocket launcher but only at the moment he got it.
Thats a bit disappointing to hear. One thing i like in Doom Eternal is you used your whole arsenal. But we'll see.
