Ghost of Yotei |OT| Jin there, done that

I really like the exploration so far, has to be one of the better examples on how to do open world games. I don't know how it'll be after 20 hours, but for now it's very organic. the way you randomly meet NPCs and they open up main or side quests. Just your random travelling merchant or group or ronin out to kill you will have a small cutscene with bespoke dialogue that will open up something.
Agreed. Also, do yourselves a favor and disable the damn golden bird! I never bothered looking out into the distance in GoT, thanks to that fucking cocaine fueled, hyperactive critter that dragged me out to everywhere I needed to go.

Then why bring up the Series X? Nobody was talking about it all until you decided to mention it for some reason. It has zero relevance in this thread.
Because he is incredibly tolerant about everything when MS or xbox is involved 🙄 I thought was quite obvious.

Takezo's Dual Slash is totally OP, I've found that playing the game aggressively works better for me, going for perfect parries, using the IAI abilities on the Katana, throwing the blinding powder and generally just wailing on enemies, but that dual slash just makes you all powerful against any enemy.

I usually don't have this problem on Xbox cause you can pre-download any game and then just insert the disc and it plays instantly.

The only way to pre-download games on PS5 in most cases is if you've pre-ordered it digitally.

Calm your fanboy tits. No one else's even bringing up xbox here.

Listen don't talk about fanboy. Not you please. And you confirmed what I pointed out with my sarcasm exactly in this post lol. You are practically an xbox machine sponsor.

The fuck you even talking about now.
You're obviously getting a bit triggered over a run of the mill comment about how 100GB disc installs suck, and decided to bring up Xbox because of it. Not you're getting mad because you got called out on it. Which again, has got absolutely nothing to do with anything in this thread and is widely off topic so let's drop it.

One of the most beautiful games I've ever played. Not just on a technical level, because people will bith and moan about everything, but just from an aethetic point of view. Its the only game where I cant help myself but to go into photo mode and just sit there watching the sunrise or sunset, with the amazing relaxing music (love the low fi music option) and just look with awe at the landscape. Its mesmerizing. Pure work of art. Not cluttered with towers and even the outposts look like they actually belong.

And I dont know what it is, but as someone who is really tired of open world games, this one just works. It doesnt feel like an endless checklist. I can just turn everything off and have a relaxing stroll through the world, without following map markers, without a map in general. The entire way the game is build makes exploration feel so much more organic and less stressful. Its small details, but they work.

Also I really love the music and interestingly the implementation of the dual sense controller. At first it felt a bit gimmicky to use it this much, but know I actually love it, makes scenes just that little bit more impactful. Feeling the difference between a light and a heavy footstep, feeling the music vibrate through your hands. Its really cool and immersive.

For me certinaly GoTy candiate.

Big fan of discs and I fucking hate install times on ps5. It's legit.

Shouldnt that be GOtY candidate :messenger_winking:

And I agree, this could shock a few people, its certainly going to win some game of the year awards

I will say Mount Yotei is a bit disappointing. You can't go there organically and there's not much up there when you do go. Maybe they'll do more with it later in the game. I'll reserve judgement for now.
Honestly I understand that. Going up mountains in open world games always destroys the illusion of scale and size. Scaling that mountain would take hours in real life and its something at least I have a good feeling for. Scaling it in 2 minutes would totally ruin the illusion of the world. Makes sense to me and there enough other smaller hills and structures you can climb up.

I guess it helps that I'm in Virginia, which is pretty close to the Pittsburg, PA fulfillment center.

I was looking up some info on Reddit and apparently for folks who live in Pittsburg, they just get the same delivered the same day they ship.

I'm near Atlanta. Great for Amazon deliveries though.

I don't know how you do exploration that is better than this in a historical setting. I am barely looking at the map. Each little encounter seems to expand the story narrative too

When do you start getting new outfits? I only found the white dye merchant the vendor sells maybe four hats and two masks, but the all kinda suck.

just a quick screen grab with my cheap phone, but this is what I mean when I say the game looks amazing. I dont care about cropped zoomed in shots in slow motion.

Its rare games have this kind of naturalistic yet stylized look.

Without giving too much away, find the storyteller. He'll set you on the path to finding more armour sets. The dye merchants only offer different styles for those you own.

The game really has me hooked.
I've ben practically doing sidequests primarily so far and the game really is a a content beast
I'm never sure if I'm doing side quests or main quests tbh, they all seem to merge into one. I mean that as a compliment. I'm around 11 hours in and I haven't killed another of the 6 since the Snake at the beginning. It is a difficult game to put down for sure.

Literally what my wife said as soon as the game title showed up overlooking Atsu's home. She was like "what are we doing with our lives? We should be living there!"
if you do just be prepared for the severe lack of things to do without travelling to the city, and shitty internet. One of the main reasons I moved back home, was too disconnected for how much I was paying to stay.

If you like being remote and isolated fuck yeah go for it

Just beat the Special Bounty Soma on lethal and my hands are hurting like a motherfucker.

Guy has atleast 3 combos where he mixes in RED attacks and sometimes he OPENS with one. Absolutely the biggest challenge yet.

Took me half an hour with instant respawn in fight

Question to those playing the game:

Is it possible to report male opponents to the shogun, for making the player character uncomfortable by looking at them in the wrong way or exerting micro-aggressions by talking to them in an overly condescending manner?

Alright so I'm like 15 hours in and the game has started to crash excessively and for no apparent reason. Thankfully the game autosaves very often so I haven't lost any progress, but I have no idea what is causing it to happen. Got no results on Twitter but I did find this Reddit thread about the game causing PS5s to shut down, but that's not what's happening to me. The game just crashes at random moments (sometimes while afk in the pause menu) and then the PS5Pro asks me to submit a crash report.

Hopefully Sucker Punch fixes it ASAP because it's very annoying

Playing on hard hasn't been too bad but this Kitsune fight is absolutely kicking my fucking ass, and I did a fair amount of side grinding first. Bosses are much tougher than the first game

I fought this guy on Lethal pretty early on. Zero chance of beating him. For somd reason, the game makes you fight a boss roughly 15 times before you can give up. On Lethal, some sections are seemingly impossible unless you are leveled up enough. Everything is a one shot. I do like the challenge tho. GOT was not like this

Yeh i can absolutely see that since i fought him after did almost everything in the first location(not going past Serpent pass).

I had the fully upgraded Taro Armor,1 upgrade in katana and dual katana, had the
L1 R1 DISARM skill unlocked, SQUARE + TRIANGLE skill for katana and 1 Sake and 4 spirit circles.

And he still wrecked me over and over.

Pretty important, there is a minor charm you can buy,i think from Taro, that uses 1 third of max spirit to prevent death and it autoheals you..absolutely insane charm.

i even made a clip oft the final round cause he got me to like 10% hp with no spirit but i somehow popped off and just parried every single hit and avoided the red until the fight was over.

The sad thing is that there's zero playable area in that video. It's practically a souped up skybox.

Played for 3h then realized I was using my girlfriend's PS account

Frustrated World Cup GIF

Dunno when I'll have the time and patience to replay the first 3h when you cant skip most cutscenes

Really enjoying the game tho. Visually its a decent step up. Draw distance in particular is impressive. I would say it looks better than Shadows even, due to art being so good that it can punch above its weight.

Comparing it to the first game:

* Story is better and Atsu is a better protagonist
* Combat feels the same (I love throwing swords and spears tho)
* Exploration seems more rewarding. It's very organic.
* Sidequests are much better so far (with improved cinematics to boot)

I'm impressed. Its the best sequel from Sony so far this gen.

On your assurances this game was
A.) not woke
Jurassic Park Ian Malcom GIF

Just remember that every single 'woke' controversy for this game was for things that were not part of the game itself.
The actress' own personal beliefs, the developer that got fired, other female protagonists being considered bad so this one will be as well, etc.
Sure, it's fine to be cautious on anything by your own principles, but people were already writing this off over nothing.

I have to agree on the praise of the open world, for now it feels pretty organic how you find stuff.

I have to find some skill points, i need the roll and the falling save roll, the big cunts with the axe are a nightmare to fight without roll, the normal evade just doesn't cut it against them and atsu take damage with any little fall.

while not high praise, this's still good to hear...
Yeah, not a high bar

Ive mentioned this cause I've hated Spider-Man 2, GOW Ragnarok, Horizon FW etc.

So it's a huge surprise that I'm enjoying this as much as I am

Sony games are story focused and they've all dropped the ball this gen, except this one. So maybe that's the reason why I enjoying it.
