china fucked them last time on golds. not sure what the guy is on about.

Nationalism is offensive to him apparently. I love the Olympics and will be such a superfan from start to finish. He can kiss my @ss.

USA USA USA!

(I mean really. How is rooting for a sport team (your national team) bad?)

Wow just noticed the 24 BBC Olympic HD channels that have appeared on my TV today.
(450-473 for those who have Sky UK)

Cant wait for this to start :D

First off: U-S-A! U-S-A! Your country sucks and just wish it could hang out with us at the cool kids table.

Secondly: I kinda hope this entire thing is a ruse, and that the Queen announces the reformation of the Empire and claims half the countries in the stadium.

All set for live streaming

I wonder if NBC will stream the Opening Ceremonies live online or force Americans to watch it tape-delayed >_>

I know Bob Costas is going to talk over the interesting parts, and then be silent about things I don't care about!

"This incredible thing here whose representation is patently obvious and skill which doesn't need further explanation and would be ruined if someone droned on over it needs to be explained and droned on over."

Like It's a huge deal that NBC is FINALLY. Streaming everything this year.

I wish We had one channel that would be 24/7 Olympics.

Speaking of McDonald's, the world's biggest McDonald's is in the Olympic Park:

Gotta love the rampant commercialism of the olympics these days. Still, I guess they wouldn't be held without it.

Made your point the BBC is better than NBC. Hell, today is broadcasting from a chair, they aren't even allowed in to the broadcast center for the US.

I wish I got more than BBCA here.

Dear World,

We applied for this in 2005 when we were loaded, but this little thing called the financial crisis happened and we are broke as fuck.

Be glad that, although the games are overly commercialised, you aren't watching the basketball event take place at a car park with 2 tall guys at either end of the forecourt holding buckets over their heads.

Regards,

The UK public

p.s. It's being paid for by the entire UK even though only London, an area that is already the richest in the UK, is getting the benefits.

p.p.s. I'm paying for this with my taxpayer money and I have to pay £10 to look at the stadiums my contribution paid to build. So stop complaining.

Fucking London.

This is awesome. Good job Sky/BBC! Can't wait, going to hockey and archery. Sadly I couldn't get tickets for anything inside the main stadium, and I'm still somewhat bitter about the whole ticketing process but I'm looking forward to it all the same.

The first event is technically tomorrow. GB vs New Zealand in Women's Football, in Cardiff. They have to start before the games technically start to have time to actually play all the required games.

Starts at 4pm UK time.

Is anyone in London or visiting London attending some of the games?

Oh yeah.
GB vs Uruguay footy & Athletics (inc. 200m heats)
Plus I've got 5-a-side & Velodrome tickets for the paras.

Soooo goood.

Though most of that investment happens to be in one of the poorest parts of the country. London is not universally rich.

Re the TV studios - I've seen a lot of them pop up on the nearby residential apartment blocks around the Stratford area:

This is true, but if London sorted out it's ghastly wealth divide and actually invested its public money effectively then it wouldn't be deprived. There are enough jobs around London at least. Try going to a post-industrial Northern city like Bradford, Burnley or Hull. That's where the money should be going.

Anyway, I digress. Go Team GB. Gonna buy the footy kit this weekend, looks sexy.

Did someone mention TV studios? Alright then, here's links to loads of pictures!

They look great, well apart from the BBC3 studio location. Also does that mean Jake is doing BBC3 coverage?

Not sure exactly what he's presenting on, but is a main one. BBC 3's studio is right next to the BBC1 one but tis open air. Can only go well.

Edit: Some daytime BBC One shifts and some evening BBC Three ones.

High five!

But why the tape delay? So it doesn't conflict with existing NBC programming, or something else?

I think NBC Sports Network will be on 24/7 with Olympics coverage and then they will package stuff for prime time. Love being in Detroit and getting CBC, though.

Yeah I see on NBC Sports Network it has USA vs France at 11:30 am today, but also MSNBC has the GB vs NZ game at 10:30am.

The problem for people in the US right now is that now with Twitter and just the rest of the internet being so widely used now people will be spoiled of the results of the events and they might not even tune in for the Olympics. No point in watching the show if the events are tape delayed by 8 hours and you know what happened.

So I just checked my direcTV package and I won't be able to watch the Women Soccer match or the Men's, I assume. The fk is this shiet.
