To this day I still don't get why Shaw didn't get the job. Perfect guy to take over, who did he piss off in the organization besides Buss? There had to be other feedback, I'd think.

It is all Jim Buss and nobody else. He hates Phil and doesn't want to have anything to do with the triangle any more. Don't let Black Mamba's Jim Buss love confuses you.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/ian_thomsen/11/01/brian.shaw.lakers/index.html

"The negativity toward Phil didn't come from Mitch," Shaw said. "It was more from Jimmy Buss just doubting some of the decisions he made in terms of how he was handling and running the team and coaching the team on the sidelines, and sitting down instead of getting up. People look at coaches and want them to pace up and down the sidelines and bark instructions to the guys. That's not Phil's demeanor. That was viewed as a negative in my estimation -- but it won him five championships with the Lakers and six with the Bulls, and that was his coaching style when he won, so why was that not acceptable now?

"Jim Cleamons is coaching in China right now," Shaw said. "Frank Hamblen [a longtime assistant to Jackson] is retired. I ended up coming here, but the equipment manager, Rudy Garciduenas, who had been there for 28 years -- he got let go. [Assistant GM] Ronnie Lester was hired by Jerry West, had been there for 25 years -- he got let go. And a lot of other people on the basketball operations side who had been there through the Showtime era and the championships when I was playing, and even the championships from the time when I was coaching, for no reason they are let go. And that's the sad part of it and the part that is hard to understand when you say we want a new voice, we want a different direction or we want to change the culture around here. I'm like, 29 other teams in the league would love to have this kind of culture and direction, to go to the Finals seven times in 11 years and win five of them.''

Two weeks after he heard of Brown's impending hire, Shaw said he received a voicemail from Jerry Buss.

"Dr. Buss did call and leave a message saying that his son is in control now, and he has to let him make whatever decisions that he makes, that I was still one of his favorites, and that he was sure that I would be OK going forward," Shaw said.

Fuck Jim Buss and fuck Jerry Buss too for letting his son ruining the team.

Did someone seriously suggest we should applaud Kobe for getting acupuncture?

Should we also say he's amazing because he drinks water and goes to bed before 10pm? FFS

MT @JerryZgoda: Kevin Love has re-fractured the third metacarpal on right hand. Will be examined by same NY specialist who saw him in Oct

I told y'all his ass should have sat out.

I agree on this.

I also think D'Antoni is insane how he benches Kobe and Nash together. He should take Nash out early in the 1st, like at the 6 min mark, and bring him back in to start the 2nd when Kobe goes to the bench.

On rotations, i'd also have pau play center a lot during the time nash is on the bench. Basically run a simplified triangle with kobe and pau. So when Nash is out, i'd be taking diwght out shortly there after.

It gets kobe his touches, it gets pau his touches, and has the benefit of not grinding dwight into the ground like he was in orlando. And most second units aren't going to re-act well to the triangle, and puts the ball in the hands of the second best passer/ decision maker on the team (pau)

It looks like D'antoni is slowly getting there.... slowly.

Damn Wolves need to handle our future PF more carefully

In other news, Kobe comments about his self-doubt. He reflects on Shaq in the link as well

http://www.latimes.com/sports/laker...be-bryant-self-doubt-20130105,0,5780891.story

The message popped up on Twitter near midnight, not long after the Lakers lost to the Clippers.

"Thoughts of self doubt...Am I done? Is this how my career will end?? I REFUSE to give in to these thoughts. #strongwill #countonchallenges"

It was from Kobe Bryant. He didn't step back from it 12 hours later while talking to reporters after the Lakers' practice Saturday.

"Everybody has it. I'm human just like everybody else," he said. "I think the way I react to it is probably a little different than anybody else. I don't feed into it. I'm able to face it. I'm able to deal with it. I'm able to roll through it."

Bryant added that he wouldn't "capitulate" to it. Nor was he worried that teammates would see his vulnerable side.

"I think it's good for them, especially for them to know I have those moments as well," said Bryant, who is under contract for one more season (and $30.5 million). "I'm sure they've had them. I don't know how they respond to them. In certain instances, maybe they let the self-doubt get the best of them. I refuse to let that happen."

The Lakers have been beyond vulnerable this season, falling to 15-17 after their 107-102 loss Friday to the Clippers.

Bryant was surprisingly calm afterward and again a day later. He even took a trip down memory lane, painful as it might have been.

It seems like a lot of players are getting rushed back from injuries way too fast nowadays.

I mean, it didn't make any sense to me in the first place that Love was able to come back from a fractured hand in just 2 weeks.

Now it's just evident that either the team doctors are becoming more and more incompetent or the team front offices just don't give a fuck.

The more worrying part is rubio sitting now, but........ he came back roughly on schedule, and was playing pretty limited minutes.

Wonder if he just realised he needed to do more strength training after that stint and so decided to miss another few weeks.

All aboard! The Love train!
I just hope all the people that think the Wolves are better without Love are real happy watching a lot of Derrick Williams and Dante Cunningham until the all-star break.

The players also want to play. They ultimately have the final say

I hate that Love is hurt but I'm looking on the bright side. That's one less playoff team in the West for LA to compete with...

"The ball should be in Steve's hands and should be in Pau's hands," Bryant said. "The ball used to be in my hands and we got Steve Nash, who's better at it than I am. He's an incredible facilitator. So is Pau. So we have the two best passers at their respective positions and they need to be the guys that have the ball the majority of the time. Myself and Dwight, we're finishers. I think that's how it should operate.

"I won two championships with [Gasol]. We won two championships playing through him, really. I know what he's capable of doing."

kobe still thinks Gasol can do it.

you're hoping other teams don't make the playoffs to increase the chances of your team. smh

I know it's rock bottom lol

kobe still think Gasol can do it.

He's right though. Pau is a shell of himself but he's still better than Dwight inside. He has nice moves and can make fts if hacked. Dwight needs to be crashing the boards not posting up

Haven't watched Gasol much outside of this season but he gets stripped all the time, soft as fuck and is afraid of the basket. the only thing he can do is make fts. Gasol is terrible in the post, I don't even know why he wants it there anymore tbh.

Every team should trade their Spanish players to the Wolves. That Spanish team won the silver medal after all. They should be pretty good.
so many flopping fines though....

Dwight's Fg % is probably in the 60's while Pau's is in the 30's right now. Not sure why you guys think he can actually back a grown man down in the paint. Pau couldn't back Konex down at this point.
