Just felt like saying I never saw Asylum, and as it was recently added to Netflix I decided to give it a try.

So far it's a shit ton better than season 1 and 3 IMO.

I'm rewatching Coven with a friend right now but I realised that I think that the show works better in a more confined locale / setting. Asylum is probably the best example of it - the atmosphere was foreboding, ominous and oppressive and I can't remember the last time I felt this way about a TV show. The Nor'Easter episode was probably the best example of that - so atmospheric.

Coven is good but I feel like having an "open" area to play around with also means there's an "open" story and it's less focused.

But yeah, so far, for me

Asylum > Coven > Murder House

Loki

Count of Concision
Was the episode that aired on 12/11 (I think at the end it had Madame Levaux (sp?) going into the coven house) the season finale? If one aired on 12/18 I missed it, and it's still not up on On Demand.

I just finished watching Asylum and I wholeheartedly agree that is the best season of the entire series. I love Coven but so far, it has nothing to the depths of which Asylum went into. I don't know if it has anything to do with the different atmosphere, seeing as an Asylum is the perfect platform for some really good gritty storyline, but it's was waaaaaaaay more polished and organized than Coven so far.

Also the acting in this Asylum is the best of any season ever. The showcase performances was breath taking. The cast, the setting, the story, the characters, the writing... It's a solid 10/10. The only criticism I have is the whole
Mother and son
story where it doesn't explain it too well along the rest of the season. It kind of gets thrown in there to kind of wrap everything up which I felt could of been done better.

Like most shows they went on a winter break and will be back January 8th.

Cool interview with Ryan Murphy about the future of the series

He essentially reflects on the series and how it's gone so far, and what's up next (mainly focusing on Stevie Nicks)

Jessica Lange is insisting that she’s leaving after next season. Have you spoken with her about it?

We haven’t had a conversation about that. Jessica and I have talked about her role in season four because it’s something she’s always wanted to play, so she’s very involved. And, look, I get it. I think being on a television show, even a cable show for 13 episodes, is a big grind. It’s really hard work. And I bought a play that Jessica’s going to do on Broadway, something she’s always wanted to do, so we’re going to do that after season 4. And then? I don’t know. Maybe she has a year break, or maybe I can seduce her with a part. It depends on what she wants to do. She’s always been an actress who took a lot of time between projects. A lot of that was because she had a family. But I’ll always work with Jessica and I’ll always do whatever she’s interested in doing. There are no bad feelings at all. I totally respect her point of view. She has a beautiful farm, and she usually spends a lot of time on it. If she doesn’t do season 5, I’ll definitely spend a lot of my time trying to seduce her with stuff for seasons 6 and 7 because she’s Jessica Lange and I love her.

Has there been anything you wanted to do this season that was too extreme, even for basic cable?

....

Actually we shot a scene this year that I cut because I thought it went over the edge. I didn’t think it went over the edge when we wrote and shot it, but when we saw it … I try and police myself if I can, and this was too much. It was a scene between Madison and Spalding. He had some fun with his doll, her corpse. Denis O’Hare and Emma did it wonderfully, but it was a little much. When I saw Denis on the last day of The Normal Heart he was like, “I’m so glad you cut that scene!” He was very glad we didn’t show his ass to the world — although I will go on record saying it was a wonderful ass. Maybe we’ll put it on the DVD. I’ll ask the actors. And that’s the thing: I love the cast, I want to protect them, and they know that. I’m also aware that this year has developed a very loyal young female audience, and I didn’t want to put that out in the world.

There's more at the link.

I know it's gross but I hope it does get included on the DVD/Blu. I like the idea of having an extended / unrated version to buy on disc. I have bought both Murder House and Asylum and have been a little bit disappointed at how little there was in the way of extras.

Asylum is by far the best of the series but
would've been even better without aliens and supernatural crap.

It's all part of the homage to the '50s they were doing with the Nazis and such. Think "Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull."

Currently I like coven nor than asylum, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's better than murder house. My friends all believe I'm nuts for thinking that.

I actually really like this season so far.

I also loved season one but got disinterested in season two and never finished it. Wasn't aware that people preferred it over the first.

If I had to choose between one and three I honestly couldn't answer.

BIG spoiler:

By the finale, which is turning out to be a veritable bloodbath, if you’re dead, you’re dead. The people who could possibly help bring you back, who have those powers, are gone.

Sounds good, but that should have been the case 7 episodes ago.

We still haven’t answered who Jessica Lange’s other child is from season 1 [Murder House] but one day, I’ll get around to even that.

So he still plans to eventually return to the Murder House characters at some point. Interesting.

Hey, I was just about to ask about this.

The
Nazi stuff didn't really seem out of place. I don't understand what the point of that Alien stuff was though... it really didn't serve the story any purpose at all. Was that all it was? Homage?

Can't wait to watch this season. Though I probably won't until it hit Netflix.

Season 2 was much better then the first though I felt like it had a similar problem. The stories really start getting stretched out towards the end. Season 2 had the added problem of having way too many different plots going but I was satisfied by how it all ended.

TONIGHT!
TWO shocking deaths as American Horror Story returns!

PLUS TWO SHOCKING
RESURRECTIONS

Fixed.

That's more like it.

Ugh. Who the hell wants this? Nobody.

A lot of people want to see a continuation of the demon baby stuff, which is sort of understandable considering that they left that story open ended.

Lots of people were calling for more Constance and Demon Child.

That...is unfortunate.

I don't want anything back from Murder House, and it looks like I'm probably going to end up feeling the same way about Coven when all is said and done.

I barely remember anything that's happened this season. Rather, nothing has left a lasting impression on me. I've still enjoyed watching overall, though.

Bring it in for the home stretch, Ryan Murphy.

A Murder House follow up would only work if it was something like Mark Millar's Chosen.

Actually, Millar and Murphy are kinda similar.

Ya, that stuff was all part of the pastiche as well. Big pop culture thing at the time.

What, is this the first time a voodoo witch displayed powers without some kind of dance or saying words? It's like she just shot it out and did a spooky chant. But the point was that it was quick.

I cant believe I gave up on AHS because of how season 1 ended. Asylum has been some of the best television/writing in some time. Jesus christ its good. I'm re-watching it as we speak @ work right now. just to pass time and listen/glimpse at my phone.

You have a good opinion.

They all have different flavors, but yeah Season 2 is phenomenal.

ahh, new season 3 episode already?? **hides from spoilers**

Wow!

I've been DVRing the series in order to watch the episodes one after another. Decided to watch tonight's episode as nothing else was really on. I don't think I can wait until things are done now. Might have to start watching the episodes sooner rather then later.

I'm a bit confused here. What happened to the racist immortal who had
head cut off and stuffed in a box
One second
I saw Fiona's daughter still blind then the next she was using a computer

I like the
shadow man though.
