I have never heard a note from one of her songs unless she sampled them from something else but I could just as easily look her up rather than taking the "who" route and looking like a lazy ignorant person. I like her music and she is very beautiful, but her addition to a Final Fantasy mobile game is kinda random lol.

This kind of shit is really unnecessary. Just because you have little to no interest in music and entertainers doesn't mean you're a "cave dweller". I'm in my 30s and haven't had "TV" since my parents had it when I was a teenager. Ever since I was a kid I'd always rather play video games or watch movies rather than sit down and listen to music. If you're a Cord Cutter, not into music, and only get your video entertainment from Netflix/etc, Gaming, and the Movie theater, then hey, you probably don't know the vast majority of Musicians currently in the world, no matter how popular they are. Doubly so if you don't participate in "Entertainment News".

There's no reason for the hostility towards the people who don't know who she (or ANY other entertainer) is just because they're unfamiliar. Yeah, some of the "who?" stuff is a little overly snarky, but that's not a reason to throw around those kind of insults.

It's easier to appear edgy to write off all pop acts as talentless unless they're picking up an instrument lol.

Anyways I think it's random to a degree but she's huge in Japan so it makes sense from a business standpoint.

Tried to make the cord cutting argument but it was ignored for people calling others edgelords and living under a rock/etc so eh.

I guess it's easier to believe someone's wanting 'e-cred' or some shit than they actually don't know who someone is.

Edit: can't even find her in the top 100 Itunes download charts of the Netherlands, nor the albumb charts.

I happen to be from the Netherlands. Her airplay on pop radio stations over the past years has been on the same level as Bieber and Adele.

You, and many others, keep avoiding the "you should have just googled it" argument. So many threads in this place get dumbed down for the first 2+ pages with a bunch of garbage posts when they can be so easily avoided. Seriously, someone even went of their way to bust out the Guardians of the Galaxy gif just to show off how they don't know who this person is.

I just googled her name. First two results are her wikipedia and her instragram.

I clicked on her instagram.

Oh 93 million followers? She's pretty damn famous!

I mean... I 'know' Ariana Grande like I know 'phlange' is some word for something... They are terms I recognize solely in the fact that I know of them, not in terms of actually identifying them with an actual thought, person, or emotion.

You are taking a wikipedia article with old album charts as basis for her current level of popularity, which i proved to you to be practically nonexistent through my examples.

I know you are from the netherlands, thats why i looked it up. Interestingly the Radio stations seem to try to push her but the Download and Album charts dont seem to reflect that popularity.

At least it's not Run the Jewels. I don't listen to Ariana Grande but her design looks like a Final Fantasy characters. Run the Jewels in Gears is just the worst. That being said, they should fans in the game, not famous fans.

I tried the game out because of this inclusion.

It's really quite extraordinary how well the dialogue is written in comparison to the last ten years of Final Fantasy games. It easily sits at the top.
