does the fact that I bought this from GMG (they had it for $36) prevent me from getting a Steam refund?
The benchmark is not at all representative of the actual game as it would turn out. Also the benchmark isn't subject to the 30FPS cap like the main game.
Disappointed here. After seeing how nicely optimized the game is for ps4 I expected a very polished PC experience. I guess I should have seen it coming since Arkham City had plenty of odd issues on the PC as well despite being a lower spec game. A mutant UE3 title with loads of bolted on features seems like a dangerous thing.

Absolutely. You bought the key from a 3rd party. While the keys activate on Steam, they are under no obligation to refund a purchase that you did not make with them directly.
Dunno why they even included a benchmark with such a rough port. Usually it's the good PC ports that have them.
what happens if you try to get a refund on something you received as a gift?

The main game isn't capped if you follow the op you can change it to whatever you want.
Holy fucking shit, I expected this game to run like a charm after playing Arkham Asylum/Knight and I wake up to 30 pages of horrendous bug and crash reports. What. The. Hell.
30fps lock out of the box for a major AAA title? What is wrong with these people? I hope everybody who has the chance will refund this on steam or hold out on exceeding 2h until a few days in. Let's hope this is just a bad dream and they accidentally pushed a six months old dev build to the steam servers...
Alright, I've played for a little over an hour now and can share my performance with the following rig:
Titan X
16 GB RAM
4770k @ 4.5
1440p
I've decided to just let the 30 FPS cap as is. I don't feel like doing a tweak, and I'm quite content playing at this locked framerate (although it would be nice to flex that G-Sync). Hopefully it's something that they remove in a patch.
Performance is absolutely fine though. Game stays locked at 29/30 FPS 99% of the time. There was some slight stuttering in the Batmobile as new areas were loaded, but that's to be expected I suppose, and it was nothing gamebreaking. Other than that it has been pretty stutter free for me. I understand that that is not the case for a lot of people, so perhaps it's the extra VRAM of the Titan X doing its job. In the benchmark I believed I averaged in the 70's or so and the minimum was 36.
Edit: I should add that that is with everything maxed out and all of the NVIDIA bells and whistles activated and V-Sync off.
Dude. Spoilers...blurb
Sorry to hear that so many are having issues. Hopefully they can issue some hot fixes quickly to address the problem.
For anyone that has been able to play for an extended period - any luck getting surround sound to work on PC? I'm running a 5.1 system and changed in game audio options to "large speakers" but it's only outputting in 2.1 - ended up switching to headphones in the meantime.
Curious to see if anyone else has ecoeri need this.
Are you fucking kidding me?
Surround sound doesn't work? What's your setup? Are you doing audio over HDMI to your receiver?
So either there's something very wrong with the game or they don't understand what a benchmark is for.
Did you get any of this to work? Turning MotionBlur=False causes my game to crash on start up.Alright, so based on a steam forum post it is recommended to go to the .ini and:
1. Change max fps to 120, not 60
2. Turn off all motion blur settings including MobilePostProcessBlurAmount to 0.0 as motion blur is bugged
3. Possibly change Texture Resolution to 2, to make it look better.
Obviously YMMV and backup your .ini but I'm gonna try it now.
I have perfect 7.1 audio to my receiver, About the only thing that works ok.
Huh, that together with the game deleting and redownloading itself when verifying the cache... But nah, you better believe they'd have fixed such a major fuckup asapWait every time my game crashes it says something about July release or form something along those lines
SLI users should absolutely dedicate their second GPU for PhysX until they get SLI scaling to work. Makes a huge difference if you have smoke/fog enabled
Right. It's so weird that they'd do that but leave the benchmark uncapped. Like, what?
Oh my goodness. Truly the Arkham Knightmare.

Damn, I can't believe I have no issues on my 7950. The VRAM thing is probably a factor, since normal recommends 3GB of video ram.
Gemüsepizza;169467314 said:"Verify integrity of game cache" seems to be totally broken. I just started it for fun and it deleted the whole game. Maybe there is a problem with the preload data? Fortunately I have a very fast internet connection.
One nice thing - the game recongnized my DS4 and is showing ps4 buttons.
This has Denuvo? lol
Maybe the GOTY edition will be Steamworks only.
[NO HARLEY QUINN DLC FOR NVIDIA EDITION]WB made sure nvidia users don't get that. Are you one of them?
After the crash, I've checked my installation and it literally deleted all game files
I wish I was making this up
AMD users should be aware that for now, the game has performance issues with AMD cards. No statements from AMD yet.
[EDIT] - New drivers from AMD out:

Okay you guys, calm down and listen.
Do not defeat the 30 fps framerate lock. It's there for a reason it seems, however this game is designed, however the engine works, it gets really unhappy if you uncap the framerate. It's much much smoother running at 30 fps from what I've seen.
This game chews through VRAM like crazy. It's constantly capping my 980 Ti's 6 GB of VRAM at 5945 MB according to MSI Afterburner. It's literally using the entire framebuffer of my video card. This is probably what is causing some of you guys to stutter so much if you're running Normal textures and you don't have a lot of VRAM on your video card.
Dude. Spoilers...
That really doesn't sound right. There's just gotta be a day-one patch.Just to clarify, the 5GB+ RAM usage was for the game, my VRAM usage was close to if not maxing out the 3584MB partition of the GTX 970's memory. So yeah, it was using over 8.5GB.
Huh, that together with the game deleting and redownloading itself when verifying the cache... But nah, you better believe they'd have fixed such a major fuckup asap
It's done this to me 3 times now my game was crashing with file errors so verified cache and its deleted the game. This port is a mess manI tried to verify cache while connected via the VPN because the game kept crashing instead of starting.
It deleted the game. I feel your pain.
Do GMG do refunds?
