Did WB, who was previously worried about Batman's box office performance
, just orchestrate it's own "leak" to reveal that an R rated version of it will be released after the regular version?

That Deadpool thirst is real...

No. This was submitted for review by in Sept 2015. The image in the second post of the thread shows the date. So not, not because of Deadpool. They always planned to have an extended/ultimate version.

Nah... but that reach is real.

Some aren't taking it well https://twitter.com/the_moviebob/status/702315841094864896

As for me, I am curious about it. Could be cool or it could be a whole lot of nothing.

The amount of ignorance is appalling.

Nah, it's Deadpool man! You don't get it WB has a time machine went into the future and saw Deadpool was a hit so they decided to make an R-rated cut of the movie.

No it doesn't. Both of those will still be PG-13 when it comes to the theater version. Depending on the director they might get extended editions. Then and only then maybe it gets increased to R for violence. People aren't going to be seeing R rated DC films in the theater. That's the hope people have and it's a false foolish hope.

An R-rated home release is what I meant.

But imo Suicide Squad should've been r-rated from the get go.

We've already had some R rated DC films.

Interested in this because I enjoyed Watchmen's director cut a degree more than the movie, so I hope there will be the same effect for this.

Curious what prompted the R rating, I'm guessing something involving Doomsday or the Knightmare sequence.

It was an awful story. But its old and violent and features Superman. Some of these things should have been rated R a long time ago.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that Death of Superman wasn't an awful comic.

All Star Superman did all that and more. Superman does NOT have to win fights just by punching shit.

I'm not sure what your point is here. ASS is a great book and story. Death of is not. But it hardly fails any 'point of superman' metric. It's just very basic, unfortunately.

No, I'm not saying that the film itself is reactionary, rather I'm insinuating that Warner deliberately leaked this info to the press after the news of Deadpools success. I mean I know techinically it's from MPAA, but I'm guessing someone at Warner just pointed news sites to it.

I don't get it, he can just watch the pg-13 cut and ignore this cut, if it offends him so much.

hate this overreacting culture that goes on social networks.

BVS will outsell Deadpool by such a massive amount. Why the hell would Warner give a shit about Deadpool exactly? Unless you are being sarcastic.

Because it opened to 150 mil and is over performing like a motherfucker

They care. It's going to outperform almost all of their movies from the last two years.

DoS was OK until the part where Superman "dies" which is like the first 1/4th of the comic. Everything after that was garbage.

Yeah that's the part I meant. My mind blacked out on the return of Superman and the machine guns and all of that. For some reason I thought that came a couple of months after The Death.

This is a Bluray Special Edition that's coming alongside with the normal PG13 cut serving a very small market....

Why would they care when even a shitty scoring BVS will decimate it? They may care ...but not for this property.

Because it is going to outgross all of their other movies including a Rated R Mad Max reboot.

BVS will be a hit. They desperately need more. So they've definitely got an eye on Deadpool. That's just in general, though.

Never underestimate the popularity of Batman. Say what you will about the Dark Knight Trilogy, it made fucktons of money. Batman is easily the most popular superhero.

I don't think this has anything to do with Deadpool, but why are you making this assumption at this point?

Man of Steel made $291 million in the US and $668 million worldwide. The opening weekend gross was $116 million.

Deadpool has made $241 million in the US to date and is on track to do well over $300 million. It's at $497 million worldwide now and is on track to do well over $600 million worldwide, maybe over $700 million. The opening weekend gross was $152 million (4-day) or $132 million (3-day) depending on which one you want to take.

Deadpool is a movie that outperformed Man of Steel. So I'm not sure if we can really confidently say that BvS will outperform it by a "massive" amount. At this point, all bets are off.

Deadpool success is doing good things.

Sigh...

Deadpool is the greatest savior for comic book movies.

Generic "sequences of violence."

For ages I've assumed the reason Nolan cuts fights/action the way he does is to avoid this shit lol. There it is, I guess. I don't expect anything particularly bloody or gruesome from this cut.

Just a clarification on All Star Superman...

He didn't die. He went on to be the golden superman you see in the earlier stories when Pa died, he was wrapped in Bandages, also used in DC One Million.

I completely agree. Let's also not forget that Deadpool is going to outperform half of the Marvel movies domestically. Really, all bets are off.

Yeah, even The Avengers almost got an r-rating til they toned Agent Coulson's death scene. It's not like they are really going out of their way to make an R-rated film like how Deadpool did, it just happens and edits come into play as needed.

DC noted awhile back that they were worried about the movie awhile ago. Also keep in mind that "superhero fatigue" is also a worry now. In 2008, you could no doubt sell a movie on Batman's name alone, but it's 2016 and Marvel's putting out a minimum of two movies a year so just having a comic book basis alone won't necessarily put butts in seats.
