I switched to an alt account to ditch my embarrassing tag so I could be an embarrassing Naughty Dog fanboy in peace. Ask me anything!
I completely agree. Let's also not forget that Deadpool is going to outperform half of the Marvel movies domestically. Really, all bets are off.

Ok let us assume BVS only performs as well as Deadpool domestically. Hell Let us assume it performs worse than Deadpool domestically. Internationally I dont see how BVS does not have a huge lead over Deadpool to even compensate for whatever differences there are domestically.

I like this "dark" path that both BvS and SS are going down, if only to contrast the universe with Marvel's.

Both BVS and SS are dark but not R rated dark. The solo Batman film will also not be R rated.

Yeah. This is hardly reactionary to Deadpool's immediate success but maybe Warner caught wind of the traction Deadpool was gaining last year?
The assemble cut was 4+ hours long and Deborah Snyder had already teased we were going to get an ultimate cut.

The real surprise would be a Man of Steel recut.

Superman and Wonder Woman have no business being R-rated.

WW chose to show up after seeing the amateur job Clark did :^).

It's a special edition cut...the public for the most part will only ever catch the PG13 veresion lol.
Yep
Superman and Wonder Woman have no business being R-rated.

But Batman is in the film as well. No need to be a selective reader, it makes sense that Batman's arc could be the reason why there's a R cut, Snyder ain't gonna have Superman or WW doing anything vicious but the "Bat Vigilante"? That's a different story and can be illustrated further in the R cut.

I'm not sure what your point is here. ASS is a great book and story. Death of is not. But it hardly fails any 'point of superman' metric. It's just very basic, unfortunately.

You know there was a very good Superman Adventures comic written by Mark Millar of all people.

So there's a dramatically ironic situation, since obviously Batman can't show up, but either way they need to track Mad Hatter down. That's when Superman comes to Gotham to help. Unfortunately, his tactics don't really fit in.

So to keep the interrogations going, Superman's gotta act like Batman. Where Batman hangs dudes off roofs, Superman can fly

So they track him down to the police station and there's a big Mark Millar style widescreen setpiece involving Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, the Batwing, etc and that eventually leads to Mad Hatter being chased down into the sewers. Superman has a solution that doesn't involve torture or physical violence!

Wow, Superman winning using intelligence, deductive reasoning, and his unyielding empathy for humans! That definitely stuck with me a lot more than Superman punching Doomsday a bunch of times before he died! Can't wait to see the R-rated version!

DC noted awhile back that they were worried about the movie awhile ago. Also keep in mind that "superhero fatigue" is also a worry now. In 2008, you could no doubt sell a movie on Batman's name alone, but it's 2016 and Marvel's putting out a minimum of two movies a year so just having a comic book basis alone won't necessarily put butts in seats.

False, just wrong everywhere

Main issue with Superman using intelligence to deal with problems is that it undermines Batman as a member of Justice League. It's why most of the Justice League including Superman end up being dumb meat shields and Batman being buffed to god tier intellect when Superman actually has super intelligence too.

Also the whole point of Doomsday was that it was a problem that Superman couldn't just problem solve or contain. Doomsday was more a force of nature and tested Superman on a physical level. Superman already has a villain that tests him on an intellectual level which is Lex.

Wonder Woman is the most R rated superhero on the Justice league =P
I disagree. Green Lantern is. Especially if they take inspiration from Geoff Johns' run. Their internal 13+ rating for their comic artwork would be a very hard R if adapted 1:1 in film.

i'd actually be all for that cut on a disc. as long as they give you the option of both versions in the same package.

ayer's never released a pg-13 movie until now.
Doesn't really matter. They were always aiming for pg-13. I'm sure the difference between any potentially different cuts will be minimal :/

How's Snyder's Batman run been doing lately? Haven't kept up.

i haven't read since zero year. trade waiting is agony. but up to that point it was pretty awesome. kinda unsatisfying conclusions but the lead ups to it were always great. and capullo's art is the standout.

tom king is one to watch for at that company though. i read a couple issues of omega men and they were so good. waiting on the run to finish to buy it all. and his co-authoring on grayson has been tight too.

Yeah I would like to know this as well. I read up till End Game that was a couple of years back and stopped. All I know is Snyder's run up till that point was fking awesome.

Snyder is cray cray, don't bother, thank god he's almost gone. He tries too hard.
Aaaaah... I like Snyder's work :p

I stopped halfway through Zero Year because I decided to trade wait, haha. Man, I gotta get back into reading comics. Been out of the loop for so long.

Will check out Omega Men.

DEFINITELY check out Omega Men. Also Grayson, Vision, and Sheriff of Babylon. Basically anything King's touched.

As for Snyder, the latest arc kinda dragged in spots, but the last couple of issues have been god-tier, so it's wrapping up strong.

Neither Batman nor Superman should be R-rated.

But Man of Steel already proved that the people working on this stuff have no understanding of Superman's character or what makes for a good Superman story.

Azzarello's WW run is amazing, if you don't want to read it shit's on you bro.

Indeed it was. One of the best things to come out of DC over the last five years. (Basically that and anything Lemire has written)

The Court of the Owls storyline was amazing, an all-time great. Everything after that was pretty bad.

Its impossible to recut that dialog to make it sound good...unless you take out the dialogue completely.
