Can someone help me, this is a mess.

So wiped clean everything Ati from my PC, installed 11.10v3, installed no caps for my Crossfire and now the game STILL only uses 1 GPU and i get no menus/hud/nothing, just the game screen, WTF! HEEEELP

Specs = 2600k
GPU = 2 * 6950 2GB
HDD = Vertex 3 SATA 3 120GB
Ram = 8 GB
I had that when I had eyefinity enabled, it didn't recognize my desktop res. I had to manually edit the config file.

Its located in C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Battlefield 3\settings
File : PROF_SAVE_profile

*note : Open this file with Notepad++ to edit it. You need to download this program.

Well.....it's super smooth with a controller.....but then again...i used the 360 streetfighter (dpad only) controller being that I didnt wanna spend the time setting up a ps3 controller and the 360 is just plug and play. but moving the Dpad around to look was super smooth...then again it wasnt analog.

I can't seem to change my AMD CAP 3 settings in my Control panel.

I try and change it and my computer just goes 'pop' restart.

So I have no way of removing / deleting it... oh bother.

Do you have a gaming mouse with adjustable DPI or just a regular mouse? Because it might be time to upgrade.

Does anyone know where I can go to manually delete the application profile? Because I can't use the uninstaller from Programs & Files... crashing comp...

Yea, I didn't have a problem in battlefield 3 beta either....this is wierd.

let me ask you something....when you aren't moving ur mouse at all, and just moving forward with W....is it stuttering or is it super smooth?

Just when in and tried it again. For me, it stutters even when just moving forward. You can really tell if you sprint. And if you sprint AND move the mouse, then its the worst of all. I don't want to turn off hyper-threading to fix this issue, that's just ridiculous that we would need to do that.

I've been reading that Punkbuster is related to the issues with PC freezing issues. I've tried to find a server without punkbuster enabled but they are few and far between at this point. I've fucking hated PB ever since Wolfenstein ET and wish companies would stop using it.

Fucking ridiculous that we cant play a game we paid $60 for. Have you found any threads about it on the EA forums?

My computer got 6 BSOD today in about 2 hours. I probably need a new hard drive. My BF3 files were corrupt so I had to reinstall, so I did that and after it installed the patch I tried to run it and it said it had to be activated again. I do the activation but the activation program closes before it can finish activating. This happens every time I try to launch the game now and I cannot play the game at all.

Just wanted to chime in on the stuttering.

I experienced stuttering with the latest nvidia drivers, so I rolled back to beta. Same deal.

Turning off hyper-threading like someone suggested fixed it for me. (2600k) I'm now using the latest drivers and 0 stuttering. (GTX 580)

how with this effect other games and programs on your pc?

i5 2500k @4.2ghz
GTX580 1.5GB w/ latest Nvidia Drivers
8GB Ram
Windows 7 64bit

Games runs pretty flawlessly so far. I upgraded from the beta drivers to the current release ones as listed above. I played through the first three missions (near the end of the night time mission after the opening level) and I get anywhere between 45-60 fps with the worst drop down to 38fps that I've seen. I'm running at 1080p with with all settings set to Ultra and 2x MSAA. No stuttering that I've noticed either (*crosses fingers*)

Very few games benefit from hyper-threading from what I've read. There are plenty of video editing/graphics programs that do, however. It depends on what you're running and you can alway re-enable it later

Was able to OC my 5850 to 820/1200 @ 50% fan and I now bumped everything to high, textures to Ultra, no MSAA, AA post to High, HBAO on, 16xAF @1920x1200..

Q6600 @ 3.0
5850 @ 820/1200
4GB RAM
OCZ Vertex 2 SSD

MUCH BETTER! In game FPS counter never dips below 45 and I'm usually 55+ :) Breathing new life into my nearly 4 year old machine (minutes vcard and free ssd)

edit. This is for MP :) SP is solid 60

Heh, this worked. Not sure what turning off hyper threading will do to my overclocked CPU though... hope for a fix soon.

Does anyone else think the AA on this game is crap?
Also, what exactly is antialiasing post?

When i use Deferred AA and Post AA my game looks mint as fuck, smoother than a babys bottom, but i will not settle for lows of 45fps, and stuttering from my GTX570 running out of VRam..

Anti-Aliasing post basically basically FXAA.
While Deferred is MSAA

Essentially he has turned his 2600K into a 2500K, thats about it, programs that use HyperThreading will run slightly slower, while those that dont will behave exactly the same. (maybe even better)

Maybe try changing the DPI? Do you have another mouse you can test?

I have LogiTech's G9x mouse and it doesn't even work on mouse pads. It used to and then one day it just completely stopped working on a mouse pad. Works fine on a regular surface though.

Just added this to the OT guys, thought it might be of use here also.

4) Make sure your other drivers are up to date – Sorry can’t really supply links for this as everyone’s set up is different
5) Update battlefield 3 – in origin right click on the battlefield 3 image, choose “check for update”

Game wont launch:

Remove trademark: Credit - xD3S1x
1) Goto the folder where Origin installed BF3 (C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3™) (thats where mine was installed)
2) Rename the Battlefield 3™ folder to Battlefield 3 - (removing ™)
3) Start regedit , browse to the following key :
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WoW6432Node\EA Games
Change the GDFBinary & InstallDir paths to C:\Program Files (x86)\Battlefield 3\ Battlefield 3 - again removing ™

Set administrative: Credit - raze4
1) Go to C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3
2) Right click on bf3.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator”
3) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin or C:\Program Files \Origin
4) Right click on origin.exe> properties> compatibility> check “run this program as administrator”

Partial reinstall: Credit - o--Vantage--o
1) Go to Battlefield 3 folder and delete everything except the data folder and _installer.
2) In Origin right click on Battlefield 3 and choose repair install. When I did this the repair install scanned my game and took about 2 min to download stuff. Then after it was done it launched an update to BF3 that took 7 min to download.

Browser plugin issue: credit – lpjazzman220
1) Try using another browser such as Firefox, chrome or internet explorer. You will need to reinstall the game manager in your new browser

Remove beta client: Credit - Kasuyo
1) go to your control panel under windows, find “uninstall a program”
2) When it finishes loading it’s list look for “Battlefield 3 beta” and click remove
3) Go to C:\Program Files\Origin Games or C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games and delete the battlefield 3 beta folder

Full reinstall: Credit – me8myself
1) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games or C:\Program Files\Origin Games
2) Change the battlefield 3 folder name or if you are running low on room delete it entirely
3) Restart origin and reinstall your game (you might want to keep installer files just in case, do this by clicking the gear in origin>settings>check the box that says “keep game installers after games have been installed”)

Game launches but crashes(general fix):

Set to run on one core: credit – EA Tech support
1) Click ctrl+shift+esc task manager should start, if not try alt+ctrl+delete
2) Start battlefield 3
3) As soon as it start go to task manager >processes> right click on bf3.exe>set affinity> uncheck all but cpu 0

On-line fix:

Kicked by admin fix: Credit - Stevizo
1) First of you will need to download the latest punkbuster file here:
http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf3.php [evenbalance.com]

2) Look under PunkBuster (Battlefield 3) Player Client Files and download the Filename: “wc002279.htm” to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 3\pb\htm Overwrite the existing file even if it's the same size.

Start non punkbuster game: Credit - Sebby360
1) turn punkbuster off under your search, and join a non pb req server

In game fix:

Shuttering fix: Credit - dem0critus
1) Disable HPET and Hyperthreading in BIOS (HT Link Tristate and Cluster Multi-threading for AMD - HAVEN'T TESTED ON AMD, so I don't know if it will work the same)
2)Disable Threaded Optimization in NVidia settings
roll back drivers to 285.38 beta drivers (For nvidia users obviously, if you're on ATI after trying everything else, try removing cap3.)

Specific event log fixes:

Have faith, just tweak, overclock if you can and be patient. Yesterday I was ok with textures on high, everything else medium and 40 FPS in MP. Tonight I upped everything on the config and got more fps.. all by pushing my card further.

If anyone is interested in capping their framerate (due to mouse lag or performance issues) i've found a program that will work with DX 10/11 games, called Dxtory, which you can find here.

-Download it and head over to the tab that looks like a pcb board (computer chip)
-Towards the bottom of the tab you'll see processing threads. Select the amount of cores your cpu has.
-Beneath that you'll see limit video fps. Check it, and enter in the framerate you want your game capped at.

The program needs to be running in order for your fps to be capped. It appears to not be free, but you can run the trial as many times as you would like(?).

I've limited myself to 30 fps and I can basically max out everything now except for MSAA, which induces stuttering, due to I assume running out of vram on my 1GB 460. I'm not fully sold on the art direction but i've gotta say that the game looks stunning with everything at ultra. I only wish I could see it at 60 fps instead of 30 :)

I would like to know this too, trying to uninstall gives me a blue screen every time. The thing to remove the broken thing is broken. :/

Nice. CCC's Overdrive is a good start. If you want to push your card harder later you can use other apps. I use a combination of MSI Afterburner and AMD GPU Tool to both clock, mod voltage and control fan speeds to compensate for heat.

ive been looking for something like this, thanks!

also did you ever get team fortress 2 to work?

I guess I asked in the wrong thread, so here I am again:

Hi GAF... I'll ask here because GAF > internet > GAF

I have a Phenom II X6 1090T and a buddy of mine has a i5 2500k. Our settings are as follows:

Me:
Phenom II X6 1090T @3.8GHz
6GB RAM
Radeon 6870

Buddy's:
Intel i5 2500k @3.2GHz
4GB RAM
Radeon 6950

The thing is that normally, my pc has lower average performance than his, but in BF3 case I have like a 5~8 fps better performance than his at the same settings (All Ultra but AA 2x)

We noticed that BF3 uses my 6 cores at about 60% each which is a First for me in any game.

Have you heard something like this?? Is BF3 optimized for cores or is it optimized for AMD?

Any reviews that benchmark BF3 based on CPU and not GPU?

Thanks.

BTW Add me =D. EA's ID = renegng

I don't think we're going to be able to remove it dude...

I'm thinking it's going to get to the point in that we're going to have to do a full driver sweep and re-install drivers 11.10 ver 3 from scratch without CAP3 again....

Dice have a very good multi-core usage system, so yes - that would possibly / probably be making the difference. BF games are also usually quite CPU intensive and yours is clocked higher so overall, if you were both to do a 3DMark Test your scores would probably come out close, but you'd probably get a higher CPU score (just slightly) which is why you're getting the better frames.

Yeah, I just can't have any hats or misc items equipped, so i'm unable to experience half the game at the moment ;P

I have an iMac 2010 (i7, 4g memory, radeon 5750). Should I get this game on the iMac or on a ps3? Do i have any hope of playing on medium at decent speed?

The first post seems to indicate that yes, but i find it hard to believe, so i want to make sure i am reading things properly :)

This game....If not one thing, it's something else.

Now my Game is randomly just crashing as im playing it.

I tried this fix...

Game launches but crashes(general fix):

Set to run on one core: credit – EA Tech support
1) Click ctrl+shift+esc task manager should start, if not try alt+ctrl+delete
2) Start battlefield 3
3) As soon as it start go to task manager >processes> right click on bf3.exe>set affinity> uncheck all but cpu 0

but all that does is make my framerate drop to like 1fps.

That's what I thought, it just seems weird and, dare I say it, good to be getting better performance from my CPU for the first time, when compared to the almighty i5 2500k =P

Either way, props to DICE for truly supporting Multicore and Multithread algorithms! This is the first game I've ever noticed (at least AAA game) that takes advantage of it!
