Watched it earlier, totally deserves. I had a blast, sadly many things were lost in translation (I'm from Peru, so subs were in Spanish). Still, people were laughing the whole time.
There is zero chance that Deadpool will fail to hit $300M domestic. It will be close to $250M after this weekend.
The question now is how much higher than $300M does it reach. If it matches or exceeds American Sniper's second weekend of $65M, I would say that Deadpool was on track to take the all time domestic record for a Rated R film (~$371M)
I'm predicting it's going to hold a lot better than people expect this weekend, maybe even well enough for a $70M second weekend. It has that must see, cultural zeitgeist feel to it at the moment, and that's always been a potent combination for a great second weekend drop. And that's not considering the R-rated comedy element of it, a genre that historically has great legs.
Can't believe it's at almost half a billion. Would loooooooooooooooove for it to crack one billion. If people like me continue to see it repeatedly, it could. Going for a third viewing tomorrow.
I know 2 people about to see it on my recommendation.
To the boxoffice analysts here, how much more can Deadpool realistically make worldwide? Can it surpass Passion of the Christ's 611 million to become the second highest grossing R Rated movie ever? i'd imagine that Matrix Reloaded's top spot with 742 million must be completely out of reach though.

Ah, would have been cool if it got to the second spot as far as R-rated movies go, but that's still excellent, even more so at its budget. I suppose being banned in China hurt its chances in that regard.
I know people who were totally blindsided by the numbers that Force Awakens did (not that they expected a flop but not $900+ domestic) and now Deadpool has sent them reeling again.
This could just be a case of two anomalies opening 'back to back' or we could be in for a year of box office surprises.., both good and bad.
