I must be in the minority on this episode. Didn't read this thread or anything else so as to not spoil it (thank God for Tuesday re-airs) but to me, other than Rory and the witty banter from the Doctor, it was almost as bad as the Night Terrors.
I know Rory is the rock of human kindness season 5 and 6 are based on (though is he dying a lot less these days), but I'd like the focus back on the Doctor a bit more.

Final box art. Weird to see the non-BBCA logo on that image.

Hey in this clip:

You can hear some music play as the Doctor opens his toolbox, that almost sounds like the theme music-is this a reference to the classic series?

I mentioned this pages back. It is indeed Who theme music.

I like this episode conceptually, but I felt like it would have been better if Rory and Old Amy had more time together.

Agreed. Also, I thought the main conflict in the episode was supposed to be Amy's raging, unquenchable anger towards the Doctor. But, it's only raging and unquenchable for like two minutes, and bam, she's OK again and ready to help. Seemed like a bit of a cop uot to me.

Right-but is that a thing-did he use the toolbox in the old series, and this was a callback to it or something? Why WAS the theme played essentially is what I'm getting at.

If they hadn't found young/current Amy so fast, and plucked her into their timeline, it would have lasted longer/been more engaging.

Maybe something that will pay off later?

Probably just because the tape was playing random snippets of things and the production team thought it'd be cool to put the Who theme in there.

So... Smith has completely convinced me of his acting talents.
Not like I had much doubt in them anyhow, but now.. now he is an actor.
Just saw Christopher and his Kind.

Some of the extras on the Complete Series 6 DVD:

Space & Time U 6m 57s

Preludes:
The Impossible Astronaut PG 1m 48s
Curse of the Black Spot U 1m 23s
A Good Man Goes To War U 1m 36s
Let's Kill Hitler U 1m 55s
The Wedding of River Song PG 1m 11s

Up All Night PG 1m 55s (James Corden)
First Night/Last Night PG 5m 45s (Matt Smith/Karen Gillan)
Bad Night U 8m 28s (Matt Smith/Karen Gillan)

Guessing the last 3 are exclusive scenes like the 'Meanwhile in the TARDIS' stuff last year.

Yup, but he could be referring to his race or the group he's affiliated with. From what we've learned, it sounds like he was referring to the group he was affiliated with.
Speaking of the silence (And forgive me if this is really obvious and I only just noticed), I was re-watching some episodes from the first part of this series today and noticed that the lake the Doctor gets shot at is called Lake Silencio.
I wonder if the group took their name from the lake the Doctor is killed at or if the lake is named after them, because that can't be a coincidence.

Moffat has a lot of loose ends to tie up.

I want to know who was controlling the TARDIS more than the eventual 'look who killed The Doctor' storyline outcome.

The Doctor did say they had been on Earth long before mankind, so probably after them and not the other way around.

My biggest problem with them dragging out this "Who killed the Doctor" thing is that we know it's not going to happen. We know they're not going to kill the Doctor. There's no suspense.

Of course we know they're not going to kill the Doctor--the suspense is in how they won't kill the Doctor. If we actually thought they might kill him off we'd just feel cheated when he didn't.

I mean...I just don't understand why the person doing it is in the astronaut suit to begin with...to that matter why Melody was in it in the first place?

I find it compelling how this season is also a process in telling the audience "No, The Doctor won't be escaping death like this" va all the methods they've run through already:

Right off the bat, Amy/The Writers say "Maybe he's a clone, or a duplicate or something"
Then you got the rebel flesh where the clone doctor kills himself, so he's out of the picture
Then you got River reviving him in LKH, so she's out of regenerations, so that's out of the picture

I'm sure we'll probably have one more scenario like that before the end, but we're certainly burning through all of the "outs" the show could actually legitimately have for getting away with killing him.

Right-and they've been harping on "Fixed Points" a lot this year-about how they can't be changed.

Which of course means, that one of them IS going to be changed, and we'll most likely see what happens due to that.

This also gives them an even easier out for why the Doctor can regenerate beyond the usual Time Lord 12.

I've always just figured with the collapse of Time Lord Society the strict rules in place concerning regenerations has become inconsequential.

I swore there was an HP poster with Harry's back to the camera and his wand out, but just couldn't find it. *shrugs*
It's not Harry, but this one certainly bears a similarity:

I do feel like there should be an even closer one out there somewhere, though.

The Doctor Who image just smacks of the style of the Harry Potter movie posters even if it doesn't match a specific one. It probably has a lot to do with the striking resemblance of his sonic screwdriver to a wand.

With Moffatt's seeming concern for minute details, I figured if it was addressed in-show, it would be convenient to use however he's saved this time around.

That might be the one I'm thinking of, though I swore there was one with Harry.

Oh well, love both series so I wasn't slagging on either.

Another great episode. The creature was surprising in how straight-forward a monster design it was. Fantastic ending, I wonder how the Doctor will go about fixing his shit now...

It’s all right Amy, your daughter is abducted and will become a psycho, but hey enjoy your new car!
This. Where was the emotion of effectively abandoning her daughter? So many threads left open.

Strongest episode of the season for me. Wtf is up with Rory. Did you all catch him randomly say darleks in the beginning!

He was reading the names of dead people and what was in their rooms. One of them had a Dalek in their room.

They've had the few months (return of the series) for them to be worried by the child thing, and they know how she turns out.

Not to suggest that it just goes away, but they.... know she ends up fine, they realise that they sort of 'raised her' as Mels, and I suppose it's resigned to nothing can be done.

Most importantly "WHAT ABOUT MY DAUGHTER" would get annoying as hell

Ah I thought maybe it ws a warning, especially with him talking about himself in the past tense later, but I guess not.

Liked it very much.

Interesting they really stay with this theme that the Doctor is becoming some kind of god who is getting worshipped by either his companions or entire civilizations.

He had to admit loving it and was also realizing the consequences.

I think they have come to terms that they can't do anything about it, they grew up with her without knowing, Amy and Rory never went through the whole pregnancy process in the first place so they don't develop that attachment to losing a child they were going to have because they both didn't know they were going to.

Sure it isn't perfect in any way, but I guess it is the best we are going to get where you have these characters that you need to be around for most of the series, if they saved their daughter and raised her it would effectively completely change Rivers character up to this point, unless they do some timey wimey stuff, it was obvious that they could never save her from what we know she becomes.
