E3 2015 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3

Starfox feels kind of like a rush job right now... if NX is coming in 2016, I'd rather it be a highly polished launch title for that rather than a rushed, forgotten end of life release on Wii U...

Their stream is mainly dev interviews.

I think they could stand to learn from Nintendo in this regard and have folks actually playing the games instead of just talking head them.

But what would they play? FF7 PC port??

I kid, I kid.

Well maybe there simply isnt much game to play yet
joking
or am i?

I don't put as much stock in demos representing the full quality of a final product, but I do hope they put in a few more enemies in every screen, considering who they're working with.

If this is another Blast Ball situation I'll laugh again.

I was thinking the same but I sadly know that it isn't. Even if it was a minigame within an Animal Crossing game...why would anyone want to spend time with that?

Why hurt the name of the Animal Crossing franchise with something like this?

Wii U has some great games coming out this year...I just hope that they learn from this (many times they don;t seem to)

Add this to things like...no Fatal Frame or Devil's Third in the Digital Event? These types of games can at least expand your audience a tiny bit if you push them a little.

You think there will be no way to disable the gyro controls?

Was there a comment on that?

Not that I've heard. But looking at the game it really seems like a core mechanic to be able to hit all the enemies, so it LOOKS like it's quite unlikely that you'll be able to disable them, but who knows.

I'm a little behind on the stream but I think this walker section looks great. As someone that did play starfox 2 it's great to see the walker stuff brought back.

Let's see... main director of Animal Crossing was working on Splatoon, secondary director had a team on Happy Home Designer, and there was that big move from one building to the new building. Logistics?

Those are good excuses, I'd rather have SPLATOON this year and a few small Animal Crossing projects to tide me over while they work on the next one.

So, I like my Squids and Happy Home Designer looks superb. This game? Free or... free with Amiibo. I'm good with that.

Am no, the directors of splatoon are Yusuke Amano
Tsubasa Sakaguchi. They did not work on Animal Crossing from
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splatoon
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yūsuke_Amano
http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Tsubasa_Sakaguchi

Unless I am missing something and wikipedia failed me. Maybe the team(dev, artist, tec) is worked on Splatoon but still.

The director of new leaf, Aya Kyogoku is the director of this Amiibo Festival.

So I ask again, why?

That Pigma fight is just terrible. The background is basically static so it feels and looks like the Airwing is still or moving really really slowly whilst Pigma moves around it. You really need to be able to move under/over and around that big space station type thing, anything to give that scene some sort of intensity and pace.

I'm not a graphics slob but I would have liked to have seen them look a bit better.
Game looks pretty fun, maybe not the triumphant return for starfox and his crew but it looks solid and fun.

Not to me, I rather have Landmaster...

The Landmaster is in the game. Maybe not on all missions or at least initially, but Titania has you playing as the Landmaster (there was talk that you can go back to missions later and have access to different modes).

Personally, I love that the walker is a throwback to Star Fox 2.

I agree that no Fatal Frame or Devil's Third so far is a missable oportunity. But about the Animal Crossing situation, I wouldn't put beyond Nintendo doing something so off mark like that.

How did FExSMT look? Missed it

I didn't watch it either, but I was following along here.

I was surprised by how positive the reactions were. They apparently showed actual gameplay and that impressed a lot of people.

I plan to watch it myself when I get home.

Speaking about games stuck in some drawer at NCL - Star Fox 2 would be an AMAZING VC-release in the vein of Earthbound Zero. That game was completed in 95 and dont need translation to be played. Nintendo needs to jump on projects like that to keep the goodwill of the 20k hardcore fanboys they have left.

Why are people reacting so negatively towards the developer interview parts?

I thought they were very neat to see how the concepts came to life, like the Inari Shrine stuff (although well-read Nintendo fans such as myself of course knew that previously), the creation of Yarn Yoshi, and how they used to draw out the Mario stages.

The Developer Interviews themselves were actually fine. It's just the fact that people knew the Digital Event was going to be less than an hour... and when a game reveal/showing comprises of:

X amount of time spent of the game
Y amount of time spent on a Developer Interview for said game
Z amount of time spent on Amiibo for said game
X + Y + Z = becomes a good chunk of time out of that presentation

... and if it's time spent on a game we've known about for ages (such as Yoshi's WW or Mario Maker) ... the presentation becomes frustrating to endure.

I understand that they can't spend 100% of their Digital Event talking about new things, nor is it realistic to have such expectations. But when 10 minutes of a 50 minute presentation is spent on a port for example (i.e. Hyrule Warriors), it's time to trim the fat. Or at least make those Developer stories available outside of the Digital Event.
