E3 2015 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3

Why is Nintendo pushing for this game? Hate these Toys to Life games, and its fad that will just go away one day ( Not necessary Amiibo but every other game that uses it heavily)

It also doesn't require cards, and it deeper than people are giving it credit. I'd compare it to a game like Style Savvy. Either way, it doesn't require cards as Villagers appear in town and you can ask them to move in. I believe the cards are if you want to hand pick your villager, or have a special character, like KK Slider or Isabelle, move in.

Yes, I believe that is what they said on the stream. It looks pretty good, too.

Amiibos or cards is what I meant. Amiibo Festival uses both, while Happy Home uses cards

Happy Home Designer can use either cards or figures, too, I believe, and neither are required.

Amiibos sell. Skylanders sell. If they manage to secure a partnership with Activision for more Skylanders/Amiibos, they will have an even bigger goldmine.

OK I'm buying this.

And the Donkey Kong and Bowesr Skylandermiibos.

Don't need the other ones. This is gonna be my alternate universe Mario villain arcade platformer.

People said Pokemon was a fad too :P

Maybe it is a fad, but why not take advantage of them while they're hot. And it may be long lasting.

Because they sell really well, and people enjoy these types of games and figures.

Being completely honest when they presented this in the DE I thought that this was gonna be a quick cash in deal. Even though I still have no interest in Skylanders it's nice to see that the SL team actually took the time to make the characters actually seem worthwhile.

My impression of the Skylanders-games, has been that the gameplay seems to be very simple. Is that still the case? Its the same feeling I get from the Lego-games btw.

Didn't expect Skylanders to look that good tbh. Also DK looks boss, but now gimme King Bowser!

Btw, do we know what was that Nintendo title Gamespot was supposed to show?

Games sell and usually the most across Nintendo platforms. Vicarious Visions and Activision have a great relationship too.

Games are quite good, especially the last 3 ones.

Damn, Skylanders looks really good for a Wii U game. I'd totally buy it if I could just play the game without buying the toys.

I think most people write the game off because it's Skylanders, but the games are very visually impressive, and have been for the last few games. The characters are quite charming, and what's more is that all of their older characters are compatible with their new games, unlike Disney Infinity where you can only enjoy them in the Toy Box.

The GameSpot game was Xenoblade.

From what I read Skylanders and Lego are much like Kirby. Games that a simple to play with a few challenges, but are fun as anything with a lot of hidden depth.

I don't know, thats what they said about Guitar Hero and Rock Band and those games had a long bad stigma for years.
I have feeling, while they sell now, they will leave a bad connotation behind them, especially since Activistion is just milking the franchise to death.

Skylanders is more like a Diablo "lite".
You explore areas, beat waves of enemies, collect loot, level up, unlock abilites or buy items with said loot.

The game can be played to finish with just the startet pack, no need to buy more figures unless you want more.

That's because they were releasing two to three games a year. And those game are returning so it isn't like it died. It just needed a break. As long as the quality remains, people buy.

Personally there's a good chance i'll buy it, especially if bundled with DK or Bowser (or both, but that's unlikely rotfl). The figures are awesome and i'm curious to try this new version, plus having these two characters is a huge bonus.

Yeah i agree, scale is not huge in the footage but the visuals look impressive. Very high quality assets and great effects.

Ugh. Again? Damn at this point i don't want to see the game anymore, i just want to play it :\

Yeah, because talent can't be replaced. <_<

And there are still a lot of the old guard left at Rare.

It can be, sure, but there's no guarantee. They weren't replaced when they migrated over to MS, and while I don't think the games they have produced have been garbage or anything, I think it's pretty obvious that the company wasn't the same from the talent leakage that came prior to the buyout. I don't know, maybe Nintendo would've done more if they had bought them out, but I don't think it's a guarantee, either. Nintendo neglects a lot of their own homegrown franchises.

Yep! And my assumption was correct, the digital version of Skylanders Supercharged comes with an instant version of Spitfire and their vehicle Hotstreak. So, for anyone that is interested, there's no need to buy any of the toys.

I was at E3 this year, so I got to check out the show in-person. Was a lot of fun, and the Treehouse crew is good people.

Of course, the downside is that I didn't get to watch any of it outside of what I saw live, but I suppose the archived streams should give me some awesome shit to watch this weekend.

What do you mean, many people from Rare went to Microsoft when they were bought. Only the Goldeneye team left. In the west, talent leakage is normal. Heck, Retro lost a lot of their talent every time they finish a project and there is no drop in quality in their games.

As for Nintendo's IPs, given how many IPs Nintendo has it's almost impossible to make new entries for all of them. Especially niched titles like F-Zero, Pikmon, ect. Heck, as much as people clamor for a new F-Zero, GX didn't sell too well.

It's all being posted on Nintendo's YouTube channel, so you'll have something to watch when you get back.
