LOL stahp it!
Reposting from the other thread.

This film currently has a lower critical score than nearly every other superhero film ever made.

*snip*
...
Fant4stic - 8%

... That's mind-blowing.
That's blood in the damn water. Go for the jugular, Disney/Marvel.

seems like one of those films where you go to your favorite movie reviewers just to see how they dig into it.

That's basically every bad movie we hope our favorite reviewers dig into.

It's one of those movies where you had a bad feeling about it since day one but you still wanted to be shocked that the movie was ok and instead it's worse than you could have imagined.

Ouch.

Maybe we can get a tell-all book about this one day like Devil's Candy (Bonfire of the Vanities) or Final Cut (Heaven's Gate) unless Fox threatened everyone involved to never speak.

You don't get to bring friends.
Curious to know does anyone have a link to the 4chan thread leaked script from the artist who worked on the movie?

God, editing this gave me a rash. At least now it's readable/pertinent.

THANK YOU.

1. So apparently things weren't that hot between Max Landis and Trank during Chronicle, too? I never heard of Landis' pot-shot towards him. Or the "Karma" tweet.

2. wtf you can't make people cry on set you're making movies not curing cancer.

Ok, it's sitting at 9% on RT.

Pixels has a rating twice as high.

No way I'm watching this garbage.

Seeing reviews I can't believe they made
Doom thirsty for Sue AGAIN

But that's canon to the comics. Doom has always envied Reed for somehow balancing his work and time with his family, and he is especially jealous of him for having Sue.

That's a big part of the most recent Secret Wars comic run too.

Horse shit.

I'll keep my eye out for more reviews from GAF members to see how their views contrast with the reviews they've read.
If you're going to have a wildly differing opinion you need to be respectful of others. Otherwise you just sound even more like Josh Trank with a Homer Simpson avatar.

Movie's bombing! ABORT ABORT!

The possibility of a Fantastic Four and X-Men movie crossover may have just flamed out.

While many thought that it was just a matter of time before Fox’s two Marvel Comics properties crossed over, Fantastic Four producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker just complicated the matter. According to the two, the X-Men and Fantastic Four operate in different realities.

"They exist in parallel universes," Kinberg and Parker told The New York Daily News. "The Fantastic 4 live in a world without mutants. And the X-Men live in a world without the Fantastic 4."

To me, none of these criticisms are unique to F4 (sloppy lines, final act, CGI, characters etc). In fact they are arguably more apparent in other notable films like Age of Ultron. I'm beginning to suspect that the baggage that preceding its release is having an influence in the minds of some.

Is this a defence of the movie? No, but when people are listing films like Batman & Robin and Catwoman higher in the eyes of critics, then doesn't that ring any alarm bells?

There are many things this film does wrong but equally it does some elements quite well.

I had considered going to see this tonight. But since I need to save money, this movie doesn't sound like something I want to risk my money on after reading all this. Maybe when it's out on BD (or available on netflix or something, idk).

How were the last two Fantastic Four movies? Never did see them but always meant to.

So do people think Josh Trank will be blackballed? Looking at his imdb he has no upcoming projects coming up at all.

That speaks volumes. It's a shame as Chronicle was so promising.

Not good, although the first one is harmless I suppose

Overall they were decent for the time. Not great but not absolute trainwrecks. The characterizations were decent and the leads had chemistry together which is the most important part. And Doom for the most part looked and kinda acted like Doom.

Rise of the Silver Surfer is received poorly for good reason though. Both movies had really cheesy attempts at humor but Rise had some awful writing and baffling creative decisions, notably making Galactus a freaking space cloud. And that horrible dance club scene.

Yeah I'd agree, harmless is exactly what I'd call the first one. Doesn't try to be more than it is but also doesn't really capture the heart and magic of the comics. 2nd one is hard to watch today after comic book movies grew up and stopped sucking so hard.

Not surprised. There were enough opportunities for the existence of mutants to be invoked into the film, but it was written in a way to suggest they were not. For example,
the military's "use" of Johnny and Ben as resources for warfare. Why not use them against mutants? During the presentations made to Pentagon officials, the need for energy resources and technology was made under the context of international relations, and not one made against the background of an existential threat from mutants.

I can see this movie for free and I don't know if I want to waist my precious time for this. I don't go out of my way to see movies that are worse than bad. Michael Bay is the exception.

Not really? I'm not gonna comment on Catwoman, but people actually liked Batman and Robin despite the quality.

And the whole "many things this film does wrong but equally does some elements quite well" thing does not speak well for a movie. You could say that for most films and it still wouldn't matter. I can't justify spending money on a film that got a lot of things wrong with just a sprinkle of good things on top.

He might get Chronicle 2 made as a low-budget, possibly direct to video release.

But other than that, yeah, I think he's done. There are plenty of asshole directors in hollywood, but they usually have enough clout that their dickish behavior gets a pass (see: James Cameron).

Trank only made one decent flick and now his second one is a critical and possibly a commercial disaster.

Oh it absolutely does.

I was being generic. I've shared my detailed impressions on a previous page here.

Oh it absolutely does.

It is hyperbole; internet hive-mind glee. At that point, you might as well accept that the porn parodies of Batman/Catwoman are better written and directed.

With this sort of movie It does become a game to see which reviewer can outdo others in hyperbole and ott silliness.

It's all part of the fun I guess. I'll still be seeing this at some point this weekend. If I'm going to talk shit about it, I at least want to see it for myself.

I definitely believe someone would rather watch Batman and Robin. That's an entertaining movie. It's an awful movie, but it is quite entertaining.
