A person's current amount of gil is less important than their history of being able to make gil quickly through crafting, gathering, carry sales, etc. and all the liquid assets they might be hoarding. WolvenOne might have like 80 Savage Might IVs on him.

Anything below 20 mil is chump change :p

Great, grand, wonderful. So sorry that I don't enjoy the crafting grind a fraction as much as I enjoy the combat grind. Nor do I enjoy Spirit binding in excess for hours on end.

I play the game in a manner I enjoy, so sorry that doesn't make me das uber leet.

I'm pretty sure Kagari would have 20 million without touching spiritbinding if she hadn't spent it all on terrible non-nutkin pets.

Pretty much this. I have nearly 20M but I've spent relatively little (a few pentamelds and two non-full Det/Crit IV relics, no house) so in the grand scheme of things, it's not that I've made a lot of money just that I've spent pretty much none.

Finally got Miner to 50 time for unspoiled nodes ヽ(゜▽、゜)ノ

Except all the nodes have lineups of like 5 stealth'd miners waiting patiently. Never mind (._. )

Gil makes more gil, the more you have the easier it is to make more. But I don't know why you'd even need more than 20m. Large house? There's not really much worth buying. I dropped out of crafting game before 4stars hit but even after blowing gil on random crap I still have more than I really ever need.

No gathering node in this game is shared with other people, everyone gets their own node :p.

Really? I have no idea about them apart from reading what ores they have and spawn times but the three that I actually went to visit literally had miners lined up at the node.

Unless you mean that node is the same location for all but it's not limited to one person. I guess I was assuming that since it was a literal lineup but maybe they were just waiting for the time to change.

Yeah, even at the amount of Gil I have, if I wasn't eyeing the new crafted accessories I'd have more than I needed for a long time. Honestly I hope Gold Saucer changes that a bit, because I suspect the market would be more active if people actually felt like they, "NEEDED," more Gil.

Thankfully, you'll only be able to purchase a small amount (not enough to redeem for anything) of Gold Saucer currency with gil. Everything else has to be earned in the Saucer itself, which can only be a good thing. Being able to RMT to the Gold Saucer stuff would suck.

And I feel like the market is pretty active if you're in the right parts--people just tend to get starry eyed and go after big ticket crafts expecting to make millions, when the market for those items is pretty small (it's almost always cheaper to buy mats and have somebody in the FC craft for a tip than to purchase on MB, which restricts people who go the MB route.)

I dunno how much money I've made overall, but it's a lot. I just spend all of it so I'm still motivated to make more. If I sat on my gil I'd do less than I do now.

Do you not have tanks do tethers? Good luck, when you're that close it's only a matter of time.

It is same location for all, but it's not limited per person. People line up waiting for the node, but everyone can get it.

I think I've made about 2 million gil since launch.
I think I've made that much off plain long skirts. You should go into consultation services.

Oh, I know you won't be able to directly purchase stuff at Gold Saucer, buuuuut, since you purchase the Gold Saucer currency with Gil, assuming the rewards are worth it, people should be converting a fair chunk of Gil into GS currency. As such people just sitting on Gil may actually be motivated to get into the market, which is good, playing the market is actually kinda fun.

Edit:

Just to be clear, the process as I understand it is. "Gil converts to currency." "Currency is used to play Mini-Games," "Upon winning winning games you get stuff."

Really hope that among that, "stuff," they have Tier 4 Materia as a reward. There really needs to be another source for that besides Spirit Binding. :p

Overlooking the part where it's supposedly a limited amount of Gil -> Gold Saucer tokens since they don't want gil buyers (or, well, super rich people) to be way ahead in terms of GS.

My understanding is that you're gambling with GP. You can purchase GP with gil until you have 2000 GP. At that point, to get anymore, you have to win games. Stuff is purchased with GP, but everything costs more than 2000 GP. Realistically beyond the initial buy-in, there's no reason to keep spending gil on it since you can just earn more in the Saucer itself.

I stand by my belief that they should introduce armor for allied seals (or now saucer points) that, when spiritbound, had a 100% drop rate for a given tier IV materia. It's be a nice balance between totally tanking the market and bringing Det and Crit IVs back to earth.

Yeah, I knew that there was an upper limit to the currency you could buy, that was just the super simplified explanation of how it was supposedly going to work. I suspect that people will still intermittently drop Gil into GS currency though. After all, every time they make a big purchase in Gold Saucer they'll probably have less than that 2000 figure you cited.

Yeah, Armor with guaranteed Tier 4 drops would certainly help, a LOT. Granted, you couldn't make it too cheap or the market would really, REALLY Tank, but something needs to be done to bring it down to earth a bit.

200-300K for a Tier 4, that's acceptable. 600-800K, heck no!!

Golden Saucer should let you bet gil, minions, materia.
Going all in on this nutkin bet, everyone put your nuts on the table. We're rolling.
No, you can't put up your potato FC mate as collateral.
They're worthless

Will drama let me put the FC house down on a bet when I'm on my hot streak?

200-300K for a rank IV still feels high to me, given the whole Novus thing. If the goal is to make MAX STATS accessible without a gil grind, I'd think they'd want all 75+ materia to come in closer to a mill than 1.6-3.3. Million for the rank IVs for a single stat. I know therell be an inevitable collapse whenever rank Vs come in, but.

If gil is not a Gold Saucer currency, can dead lalafells be counted as a Gold Saucer currency?

Finally a role in this game that complements my natural skillset.

Crit and Det IVs on Ultros have been hovering between 500K and 700K for the past couple weeks (I flipped a Det IV for 850K one crazy day); I'm mostly talking in terms of where the market would ideally settle. 200K would be better, but still kind of high given the relatively tiny gains MAX STATS actually gives.

Paying 500k plus to meld for gear that's basically a glamor item is nuts.
And I have the money to burn, minmax relics are zzz

I hate that this game doesn't have an option to automatically stack items. How does that happen in the year of our lord two thousand fifteen

Also the MB should automatically list your items as singles because choosing between a stack of 13 or 4 loaves of bread when I want some number between 1-17 that isn't 4, 13, or 17 is dumb. Why is this a thing? I understand for full stacks maybe

Recipes or item turn-ins require a variable number of items. Selling items in any number, including the right number matching that required number for a recipe or turn-in is a 'quality of life' benefit to players.

So I heard you need 1 materia and all you have is 400k.
Well guess what my dude, you're in luck. Top of the MB list? 1 materia for 200k!
Holy shit we're done with this relic. But wait a minute, 200k /ea for a stack of 40?

Whoops, guess we'll have to find the singles.
Oh they're down at the bottom of the list. 3m/ea and a fat cat. You want it though right?

I hate when people do that. Crash the market with a huge stack lf items.

Gil based side bets on Golden Saucer and Triple Triad matches will be glorious to behold.

Oh, also i bought a house.

Camate on why 1.0 lodestone is going down
Hello,

We understand the sentiment of everyone who actively used the old Lodestone blogs and the feelings that go along with the decision to shut it down, and I’d like to take a moment to explain the reasoning behind it.

The equipment used for the old Lodestone server was purchased back in 2008 and due to the fact that it is now six years later, the support for the hardware as well as the drivers and update services for the software has begun to be phased out.

While we’ve been doing our best until now to continue service of the old Lodestone, we’ve reached a point where replacements as well as large-scale software and system alterations would be necessary in order to keep it going from here on out.

With the current situation in mind, we had been exploring if it would be possible to somehow keep everyone’s blogs intact; however, as a result of looking into various plans as well as the current page views and access numbers for the old Lodestone, we've decided to close the old Lodestone and utilize the freed up server racks and resources for new uses (for example, FFXIV game servers or the development of new content). We will be allocating our energy to provide players with more and more new services as we move forward.

Though it might be an inconvenience, if you’d like to keep your blog entries we recommend that you save them to a local folder before the old Lodestone closes. We apologize to all the players who have been supporting us since 1.0 and hope for your understanding.

Woohoo, beat Turn 9 on day two of attempts. Carried through the last phase, though.

The last phase gets kind of confusing and I lose track of when to group up and spread out so I think getting hit by double ice debuff is what kills me the most. Also JP DF groups don't remark during the divebomb phase so if I get marked I have no idea where to go without trying to kill the entire team. Oh well, practice time ~

The ones I was in remarked. Thanks to that I didn't wipe the raid, since I got the first divebomb.
