I thought CBOAT himself confirmed 1080p?

EDIT: I see the picture in question.. yeah, the vertical aliasing is bad. A lot of steps for something supposedly in 1080p. =S Please don't be final.

Again, that's a picture grabbed from the twitch session stream, scaling was completely botched.

Even loading screens and autovista suffered from that vertical scaling issues, but we've seen enough direct feed to claim that's not what the game looks like at all, that's probably 540p.

Maybe they were using xbones own twitch function (does it even have one ? can't remember), maybe the build was flawed (but we've seen enough offscreen videos and even closeups of the screen to claim that's not the case ,unless the console wasn't properly set up) or the console wasn't set up properly.

That was the Gamescom demo. Same one I played at the Microsoft Store yesterday. BUDNUD said this about the demo that B3D grabbed that image from:
"Because that was the old gamescom demo that Albert played and not the final code."

Who is making it?

The title is gonna be 'Forza Motorsport 5 |OT| Consistently the better game' right?

I was helping Shortt Sirket with it, but I think I'm doing it all now. I thought we were going with the orange peel tag. Can't remember it exactly "something something orange peel next gen feel." I'll find it, give me a minute.

EDIT: OK I found it. Forza Motorsport 5 |OT| Open wheel, tyre squeal, orange peel, dat next-gen feel
It was started by Cowboy and reworked by Mascot.

The aliasing is very reminiscent of what we've come to expect from the Forza series. Turn 10 seem to have made the same sort of compromises and performance choices they've done in the past. 1080p means the aliasing is not as bad as previous Forza's, but it definitely feels like it has a similar AA(or lack of) implementation that the series has had for a while now.

Game looks good though, don't get me wrong. Its definitely next-gen and has a very vibrant aesthetic to it.

Eh you don't go around the whole time swearing up and down it is 1080p native and then say just this week you couldn't have pulled off 1080p 60fps without cloud. 10-11 days out that would be the ultimate shit storm. No way.

Yea, godelsmetric is basically just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks right now. Desperately wants to find reasons to bash this game.

Just to be clear, CBOAT didn't confirm 1080p. He said the Xbone can't consistently do 1080p, and someone said "what about Forza?" he said something like "there can be exceptions but that will be the norm".

So take that whatever way you will.

eh, what can you do? its not t10's fault xbone is a dud...
for one more time, they get their pristine target with the first try (I mean 1920x1080/60 this case, 1280x720/60 last cases). lets see how many more will get there... ;)

the fact that they are doing a) new, more compute-intense physics and b) this multitexture new tech as they call it, is enough for me to call it a great success.

plus, image quality will improve down the line, much like it happened in 360

really? after all that's been said in this thread, and by forza veterans no less, somebody thinks he must search and find something to complain about?
lol

This is a good impression of someone who misunderstood the headline in an article about how having well-developed server infrastructure as part of the dev environment gave the team more time to optimize after building the systems for AI that they'd wanted in the game, which let them hit their framerate and resolution targets.

I've decided I'd love to see one of the replay camera angles be from the positions of the helicopters flying overhead during the race.

To be fair to godelsmetric, he linked to a post by Shifty-Geezer at Beyond3D who has been quite a good poster in earlier cases. Still, I doubt Forza 5 will be sub-1080p after all these debacles.

I never read the article because I only rolled my eyes at the thought. The bigger point remains they have consistently kept to this point of 1080p/60fps through out.

How's everyone's hype?
Increasing,decreasing,steady..?

Still pretty pumped to play the game. The amount of cars and tracks is a bit of a bummer, but I feel like I won't care much after I start playing. It's when I hit hour 200 or 300 that I will want more tracks and maybe newer rides.

Right, and from every piece of reliable info we have, the game is still running at that standard. Have you come across something suggesting otherwise?

But the UI is perfectly scaled for 1080p.

lol, so you really are just throwing stuff at the wall hoping it'll stick? I don't understand your original comment at this point, and from the sounds of it, neither do you.

I'm not hoping anything will stick. You are certainly misinterpreting what I'm trying say.

I'm saying there is no way this is not 1080p 60fps unless MS is really, really stupid at saying such for so long.

Regardless, I know he was just gleeful as sin to come and post that here.

I think he's agreeing here, actually, if I understand correctly(about it being bullshit).

steady. track and car count hit me hard, but everytime I watch a direct feed video, I'm totally pumped again.

Did they actually use the term "Full HD" sometime or just refered to it with 1080p?
After all I wouldn't be surprised if in the end it came with 1080 lines but was upscaled horizontally. He wouldn't be wronger than with his "hundreds of cars" phrase.

You mean like GT kind of 1080p ala 1280X1080p. Eh that would be some sneaky marketing IMO.

OK GUYS, LETS PUT THIS ONE TO REST!

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED NUMEROUS TIMES, FROM NUMEROUS SOURCES,
BE IT HELIOS T10 RIGHT HERE, BE IT THE MS DUDE THAT LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT RYSE WAS 900P
(REMEMBER, NOBODY THE FUCK KNEW ABOUT RISE UNTIL HE TWEETED: FORZA AND RYSE ARE 1080P, OOPS SORRY, RYSE IS 900P)

AND BY 1080P, WE MEAN 1920X1080, IT WAS CLARIFIED TOO.
SO PLEASE, NO MORE STUPID TALK

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)

glorious!

the track count sure is sad for fm4, but between this, spa, and (hopefully) prague, i'll be a happy racer for some time to come. awesome gif, bathurst looks super good. love that dawn or dusk orange glow.

Did some pixel counting, those guys and B3D are right. And even if it is an older build, literally half the resolution is missing. You'd think they'd have to put significant work into getting it to 1080p.

Quoted for size:

As you can see the UI/Map is still in 1080p, while the rest isn't. So we know for sure that the Twitch feed was actually 1080p.

Liabe Brave, the dude that has the pixel counting topic rolling here, on gaf, I've asked him about forza when they released the stupidly compressed gameplay videos, like 10-15 days ago, and he said that those and previous he tested where 1080p.

if this specific screenshot is out of that twitch transmission, its broken.
please go grab a still from a youtube 1080p recent gameplay video and count that, if you have to count

So has this been mentioned yet? Crossposting from here someone at Beyond3D says that the 1080p footage of F5 seems to have somewhere in the region of 50% vertical upscaling.

The final ass storm? It certainly would explain why people have been reporting a lot of aliasing.

Jeez, Forza was really a killer app for me & was the single reason I had a Xbox One on pre-order. Not having that graphical jump from this gen & having the game graphically degrade, even if by little from the initial unveiling, is disheartening.

From the video LeBoef posted of the new gameplay just now.

From the build they showed at e3 just a few months back:

Shadows from the environment are being cast on both cars in both gifs...what am I looking for?

Or perhaps a better question, what are you not seeing? Even in that crappy top gif you can see the top right of the trunk going dark/bright/dark/bright from the shadows.

I previously counted one at 1080p as well.

Directly from the MUCH older build (the one you called ancient, or something of the like).

That, you can easily see it's 1080p, but it doesn't explain the new picture, how CLEARLY the UI is 1080p while the rendering resolution of things in the z-buffer are half the vertical resolution. A twitch stream isn't going to cut the resolution of one and not the other. If it DID cut the resolution, you'd see that reflected on the UI as well.

Once again, look at the resolution of the UI. Full 1080p. Look at the resolution of the line on the road. Half the vertical resolution. I'm not trying to bullshit you, but this is what it is. Maybe it's being fixed, who knows?

Shadows were not there in the alps video, but they are in the gif you posted and are clearly visible in all recent direct feed videos, so I don't know what you're looking for.
I was also fearing a downgrade but recent broll and videos proved me wrong.

as for certain builds displaying that scaling bug, well, that's actually great news. Would explain why people have been talking of aliasing issues.

but we've seen enough direct feed and off screen videos: we've seen off screen videos where the camera would zoom in close enough to count pixels and such aliasing would be clearly visible.
If there really is an issue with the build going around with Xbox tour then they shoot themselves in the foot big time, but like I said, it can't be, unless it's abug only happening under certain conditions / console settings etc

Yep, shadows exist in every recent build.

Not sure how that would be "great news", but it just seems odd.

now, I have all the recent videos downloaded in 1080. I grabbed some screens that have surfaces I think you can count, even if so compressed and blurry
I would guess steering wheel, knobs, exosceleton, fences, suspension, flags, somewhere there you should find a small piece not blurry, just enough to count it

p.s. I dont think you are trying to bullshit me, or anyone else.
p.s2 I also think that it would make the greatest sense in the world why all the videos released are in shit quality... maybe its not the outlets shitty players... hahaha
what if the game IS this blurry actually? LOLOL
