It's too bad GRRM is off theoretically writing two more books, his episodes of the show are so badass. It felt like it was ten minutes long. Some of the on-foot battle-y stuff towards the end felt a little TVish, but for the most part I'm surprised they pulled off the battle so well, even knowing they had Marshall on board.
It's almost too bad they had Martin do Blackwater, though. His episode last year was far and away the best at juggling all the different storylines so it feels like a bit of a waste to put him on an episode with just a handful of people in one location. I would have liked to see him handle next week's. Still, this was a hell of an hour, up there with The Pointy End and Baelor.
Hope they can carry this energy through the end. It's too bad next week will be the last Alan Taylor episode.
