Ghost of Yotei | Review Thread

what is the point of great quest design, side activities, small details and depth if the combat makes me not want to experience this game AT ALL?

I rather take the game that doesnt make me questiom my sanity every time im in combat.
Following a fox is much more fun than having to spend hours in a shed crushing herbs. Trust me, I've done both.

Ok, after watching the disability review, it's a big NO for me.
Sony decided to say a warm FUCK YOU to disabled gamers by making the game unplayable with just the Playstation Acess Controllers since TouchPad motions are mandatory for writing names and playing music mini game.
Also using L3/R3 for the bamboo cutting (and other things) and L3+R3 for a skill it's just stupid.

Unless future patches fix this, it's unplayable for me (I'll only buy it in 6 months - 1 year).

I' swear you have been listing arguments against buying this game for a while now.

Yes, I fucked up my right arm on purpose, bought 2 Playstation Access Controllers and the Logitech buttons kit JUST so I could bitch about Yotei.

An asset flip is an asset flip, doesn't mean it's bad because of that, like Nightreign proves it.
Yotei is a rehash of Tsushima assets and animations, with sometimes weird lighting issues and sometimes ps2 level of textures on rocks, walls and ground, but that does not mean it isn't fun to play. I actually liked and got plat for Tsushima.
The female MC is Meh and the story is inspired , but that isn't such a big deal for me.
I'll probably buy it next year or the year after, depending on sales.

I focus the negative aspects because there is little use in pointing out the positives, since those are usually subjective.

Just gonna leave this here

High review scores, high user scores, sold millions.

I personally found it overrated, but it's pretty clear most people enjoyed it.

For sure more polished than in kcd2

Whats unpolished about it?

It's not a broken mess, it's just dogshit and unfun.

If there is one aspect where yotei nuke kc, is probably the fucking combat.

And i'm hardly a fan of tsushima combat.

What makes it unfun and dogshit? Do you know there is a stat system where things get better over time. You are supposed to suck at fighting at the start and you should feel it. Its immersive.

The game is obviously sound from a technical point of view but not everything is revealed in Reviews.
We need guys like you play it and the true reviews will follow.

That's literally the case for every game. Reminding everyone of the SM2 meta, knowing how half the people feel about it on this site, only serves to downplay the review score. I think you know that.

Never spoke about challenge, i literally made a long post in the OT on how to survive from the first hours and what to do in general because people were having problems.

Game if anything was quite easy when you understand how the system works and to not be aggressive until you get some moves like the counter.

Any discussion about the voice acting in Japanese and in English?

Shadows is gorgeous, but I couldn't go beyond 15 hours because of the terrible voice acting

Likely the same here for history to repeat itself.

GAF posters continuously think their opinions and outcry are the majority. They cannot fathom on here, ERA, or Reddit that they are 10-20% at most of all software sales for AAA titles and the casuals are what moves the needle.

Casuals don't know about the director being fired, or the lead actress being an antifa lesbian or whatever, and are just going to judge it for marketing and word of mouth.

TikTok clip by favorite creator shows a hype reel of it? Done. Sold to 10s of thousands. GAF says grrrr game bad, 100 people maybe don't buy it lol.

This is true for most games. Anyway Its just interesting to me that people somehow shit on unique games to defend generic games though.

10-20%?? bro what. GAF is extremely otaku and less than probably 0.1% of the overall market, lmao

The vast majority of people that buy videogames are not even going to finish them, we have the data. Was it something like 20% of people that bought Red Dead Redemption 2 (one of the best selling games of all time) that even finished the game..

What does it need for good combat? Stupid AI which is lining up for you to get killed with one hit?

Let me guess GOT and GOY is top tier combat?
There are so many great things about kcd, but the combat is clunky and tedious as fuck, especially in groups. It's terrible and frustrating. Hell, the minute to minute to gameplay is just irritating actually. The game seemed to stop me at every turn from having fun.

And I actually like the game. The story, character development, open world design and options made it juuuuust worth it enough to put up with its combat.

Misphrased. I mean if you combine places like us, era, and even Reddit it's likely 10% of all software sales. 20% if I wanted to be generous.

What's wrong with Spider Man 2?
Just for clarification I think the DF Review shows promise, the reviews means it a competent game you would expect from Sony's PS Studios but this day age you have to treat them like you would a your dog that is sitting there all innocent when come home, you have to ask, "where's the poop"

So? Is that game shit because of one gay sidequest, because you control a deaf girl for 3 mins and the Maj missions that last like 20 mins?
Yet again, Who said the game is shit?
It got 90% too, I thought the comparison was obvious.
It's weird how you guys went on defense about that...
And you know what the funniest thing is?
I'm a Sony guy
Cracking Up Lol GIF

I just wanna know what's missing from the reviews so I can make my own judgement.

WTF is wrong with people like this?

I mean bro, what are you even here for at this point?

If you prefer being entertained fighting nonsense culture wars then why don't you focus your energies frequenting LGBTQ+ matcha bars in LA for fisticuffs brawls with purple-haired karens, and leave the rest of us to fuck all that BS nonesense off and just enjoy playing fun games made by extremely talented creative teams…?
Not sure what your point is. You're allowed to enjoy the game.
