Hyrule Warriors |OT| Why are the enemies not doing anything?

So I've cleared Legend mode and most of the Adventure map, and suddenly a Trial mission teaches me that special units have weaknesses to certain items? Stuff like moblins being weak to bombs or flying units being weak to hookshots. Blew my mind that it never came up before. I wonder how much easier I could have made it for myself had I known this sooner. The hookshot one kind of makes sense, and flying dagronmans are usually a huge pain in the arse with some characters.

The items work, if you use them on the enemies when they are doing their most powerful move, indicated by a greyish aura and sound cue. If you use the item the enemy is weak against then, its attack will go haywire, possibly damaging itself and exposing the weakness gauge. You can also interrupt them easier with said items, but that's not all that helpful most of the time.

So I just started Adventure and is there some trick for those Ruto stages with a bunch of bosses chasing you and you need to kill X many enemies?

Ignore the bosses. If you kill them while killing grunts, that's nice, but otherwise they take too much time, especially when you have to eliminate 700+ enemies in 10 minutes. The boost in morale affects attack damage, not defense, so if you dodge well it shouldn't affect you. Run from enemy mass to enemy mass, try to keep a distance between you and the giant monsters and spam your attack with the widest area of effect while dodging stuff. If you're lucky you get a bomb upgrade, helps a ton.

Trying to get Lana's level 3 Deku Stick, I've failed 3 times so far.

  • Attempt 1: Well, it was my first try so unfamiliarity kind of doomed me from the start, but in the end I finished 33 seconds too long.
  • Attempt 2: I foolishly ignored Baby Cucco in favor of saving Volga, and thanks to Mama Cucco's rages I lost too much health.
  • Attempt 3: I was in a hurry to reach the end, A-ranked on time and damage but completely forgot to reach the required 1200 KOs.
Luckily this game is loads of fun no matter how many times I repeat a stage.

I have all of the main game's level 3 weapons. Now to beat all of the adventure mode stages (not A rank or get ask if the collectibles) then I can finally try it the new characters. Don't know why I haven't at least tried them but whatever. I find it kind of strange that you don't have to unlock the level 2 and 3 Eponas

Also I hate that you rarely ever fight Hylian forces. Very few characters use the Hylian captain gauntlets but when they do I never have then. I guess I could farm Ganondorf's legend mode stages.

My attempt three failed for this weapon failed for the same exact reason. My first two attempts were just too much chip damage (manhandlas : /).

I always soak up damage in the area Ghirahim and the Dinolfos hang out. I still don't have a good strategy for fighting Dinolfos.

I have discovered that Manhandla stalks only show up in enemy keeps, so if you're aggressive early on about taking keeps, it will put all three in one. But you've pretty much got to capture everything but the base and one other keep. Between that and escorting the Cucco, it can be a bit of a juggling act.

Is the skin swap glitch fixed or still doable?

Good question...

I was trying to use it for Epona last night, but it would just default back to the first weapon on the list.

Then I tried the other regular combinations and couldn't get it to work anymore.

I've found the mission is actually easily beatable ignoring the manhandla stalks altogether. I ran around and finished them off once, but the other two times just made a beeline straight for Midna and beat her long before the Allied Base was in trouble.

I think my next attempt will be something along the lines of:

-- Take the keep immediately to the north of the starting point and eliminate Sheik
-- Bounce around a bit and inflate my KO count before taking on Ghirahim (this will include clearing the crowd of Lizalfos that converge on the Allied Base)
-- Finish off Ghirahim and round out my 1200 KOs on the way to Midna

Success might depend on a little bit on where Cucco Chick and Mama Cucco spawn. One previous attempt had me escorting the baby over the whole length of the map, while another attempt had them both spawn in neighboring keeps (I didn't even have to escort baby at all, it just ran across the way and was reunited within seconds of appearing :) ).

Any decent grinding strategies or suggestions? Most of my characters are in the mid-20s which is making Adventure mode pretty much impossible to get A's on. Maybe there's a particular map you guys can suggest to get a lot of money on or something like that? Or should I just take every character through Free mode on Hard a couple times?

You probably haven't got all the skulltulas from Legend Mode, right? You should try it, as playing on hard will give you more exp and you'll still be making progress.

I'm not a fan of the Deku Stick's musou, but it gets the job done for the most part.

Spamming naked special on huge groups of officers is pretty effective if you get lucky with lots of deku scrubs. Come to think of it, I'm not sure why you don't get a deku scrub every time because the "trees" are useless. Balancing I guess?

It's not random :3
The sprouts are what happens if you plant trees on the water from the end of one of the combos (can't remember which combo, but you have to stop before you turn the water to ice, else the trees can't use it to become sprouts)

Since you seem to have the DLC, play the new Legend Mode missions or the Master Quest map, plenty of Hylian forces to be killed.

So yeah, silver cuccos. I just saw another one but he dissapeared before i could kill it.

Looked for it on the internet. Some people say it doesnt exist (obviously wrong as I have seen it), other peoples say when killed they give a 3 level weapon with VS cucco skill, other say that killing him grants you nothing (something strange when the game throws them fast to defeat them and they dont cause harm like the other cuccos, when they dissapear the game says "You've failed killing the silver cucco").

Has anyone here killed one?
BTW They only appear in Master Quest.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

Wow, I'll try this out. I also played those challenges that describe what item is weak to certain enemies, but have been unsuccessful parsing out what actual advantage they give spamming them on said enemies. Glad there is more to this than I realized.

I've never even gotten close. They always seem to appear at the worst times, and don't hang around long at all.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: How do I stop playing?

Haha, yeah it is quite addicting. Although I am cooling off of it a bit right now, I still play an hour a day just to relax to the music and have some fun. Probably won't finish all the content until Bayonetta takes over, but then, Hyrule Warriors is still the perfect alternative program and with the next DLC in mid November (where I expect similar quality and content) I can see myself playing this way into 2015. And I usually am not one to dwell on games that long, since my list of games I want to play and replay is enormous, but I just can't pull myself away from it, it is just so much fun. Nothing more, nothing less. :D

Got a pro controller. I had many doubts, but they all vanished the second I held it.

Yea, its pretty much the only controller I use on Wii U. My gamepad has been sitting in its charge cradle untouched for about a year now.

Yes, I did kill one just a few minutes ago. I even managed to do it with Agitha.

This is what I got:

I've just unlocked Cia's Master Quest costume, and I was pleasantly surprised by it.
She gets a green recolor for all of her variations, not just the one with the hat. The hatless green dress is decent enough, I guess, especially with the blue scarf.

So I'm starting Hard Mode to get better drops, and I'm just wondering, is the Magical Sword better then the base Master Sword? I'm sure someone knows the stats way better then certain places of the internet so, yeah, anyone?

Without the "Evil's Bane" skill, a one star Magical Sword will have more base damage than the Master Sword, and that's not counting all the other skills it might have. However, the Master Sword does have better range and sword beams when you have full health. Still, by the time you get 4 or 5 stars Magical Swords, it'll be much stronger than the Master Sword, without its special skill unlocked. Of course, when you unlock its skill, the Master Sword will jump to being the strongest weapon in the game.

I see. Thank you very much!

I like using the gamepad for the battle log and hp... wish it could house a bigger map.

I'm a gamepadder too. The pro is nice but I just love having that screen handy and I'm so used to it now that the pro almost feels too small :3

I had a quick scout around the master quest map with the lens of truth and didn't see a star weapon for Agitha. Is there no pixellated parasol and basket?

Nope, I haven't gotten all the skulltulas. I have terrible luck with finding those bastards in time. That will be my focus.

A specific question came to mind not long ago, but I forgot it... damnit.

Granted I've only done a couple of the maps on Legend Mode on Hard, but is this a good way to get better Materials in order to get the level 3ish upgrades and such I am unable to get for my characters at the Bazaar?

I've found that Legends mode can be good for some of the captain drops but the gold and silver drops from the characters like midna and link are bet gotten from the quiz maps in adventure mode.

Depends which materials you need, I guess. The reward map for completing the first Skulltula picture gives gold materials for all the characters you defeat so it's great for getting Zelda's tiara, Midna's fused shadow or whatever else you might need of that variety :3

Gamepad does have it's uses... the other night I was too tired and cold to play sitting up, so I played laying on my side under a blanket... maybe it's bad for it to enable such addiction...

But the pro controller, yeah. I was thinking the same idea of sticks above buttons would be kinda meh on the serviceable-yet-not-great gamepad, but they are actually angled over to the side a bit, which is right since we have hands not square blocks. Switching items is a lot nicer in Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 has a lot less strain on the right hand.

I've beaten all of the stages on the adventure map except the beat 1000 enemies in 10 minutes. I'm also probably just going to do it with agitha so I can get the heart container. This might be the mission that breaks me.

At least if I get too frustrated I can do the new legend missions and master quest map.

Silver Cucco's like the Gold ones drop nothing when defeated. The Vs Cucco skill also isn't real. So there.

Silver Cucco are just as it seems a pointless distraction.
