iPhone 7 | OT | Pre-order Sept 9, Available Sept 16

So, quick question that I hope somebody can answer. I'm on At&t right now, but I'm about to switch to Verizon and jump on my brother's plan within the next couple weeks. Is it possible for me to preorder a phone through the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program tonight, or do I need to wait until I switch carriers?

As far as I understand it, when you preorder with the Reserve in Store option you basically sign a contract at the store. This happened to me once where they basically had to sign me up for a whole new basic plan with my existing carrier, gave me the phone, and then told me to call or visit my carrier to change the plan into whatever it was supposed to be.

So long story short, at least here (Quebec) the apple folks had specialists who could sign me up to a plan on the spot. They couldn't give me some exact plan I had in mind, but it was easy to sort with the provider later.

Damn y'all weren't kidding, you can't even check models and pricing from the app. I can't believe they've taken everything down so soon, I haven't even had time to go through the options.

I think I'm just going to commit and go with the black. Hopefully there isn't a hard time getting one. Seems like the white faced ones are usually more popular, especially the gold and rose gold.

Couple of Questions:

1. Are all these phones unlocked?

2. Are ya'll ordering from service provider or from apple store?

3. Installment plan or pay upfront?

4. Any ATT deals?

Don't you have to go in to first sign up for the Apple upgrade program? If not that would save me so much headache.

You used to have to go into the store but I believe you can do it online now for first time buyers. If you are actually upgrading from the 6s you have to reserve and do the transaction in store because they have to take your old phone first.

Well if this is true it would save me a lot of headache. I get married next weekend and Friday is rehearsal day, so I couldn't be in line all day.

So for that Apple Upgrade program, you can upgrade every year but is it like a lease on the phone?

You reserve the time so you could set it for an early 8am slot if you wanted.

AFAIK it's actually financing so the phone is technically yours as long as you make the payments. I don't know the details but after the 12 months you can upgrade to a new phone. Maybe by giving them the phone they just use it as a trade in to pay for the rest of the loan?

Just saw an article too for those also upgrading, if that payment didn't go through for the 12 months they'll just want it at the time of buying the new phone. So you'd probably be paying the last month plus the first payment on the new phone + the tax.

I want to check out with the Apple upgrade program, will that slow me down while trying to preorder? I want it on launch day.

So is this where Watch discussion is happening? I don't even see an OT for the Watch 2. I'm really on the fence about getting a new one, and now I can't even see the 30x30 matrix of models and bands.

A few quick questions of someone wouldn't mind answering:

1. Is it even possible to choose Apple Upgrade Program tonight at checkout and still get one day one?
2. What happens in the event that next year's model releases just a week or two before I make my 12th payment? Am I screwed out of getting the next phone day one or do I just pay the 12th payment a little ahead of time?
3. Why are people choosing to reserve one for pickup in-store? Don't they typically come in the mail the very same day?

Thanks!

1) will be finding out with you
2) You only need to pay for 12 months. You don't need to have the phone for 12 months. You can pay six months in advance so as long as you get your phone 6 months before the next one you are eligible to upgrade

I think the new Applecare has to be purchased within two months of your phone purchase or something like that and if you don't purchase it along with your phone you have to bring it into a store to make sure it hasn't been damaged already.

I've never purchased AppleCare at purchase. I just go online, let them run a diagnostic and they send me a link to pay. Typically a month or so later. Done this for two iPhones and an iPad.

I use Cricket so which carrier should I choose? Does it matter since they're all unlocked? I want to make sure the one I buy has the right tech inside for whatever Cricket's service uses.

Sorry if this has already been covered, and I couldn't find an Apple Watch pre order thread, but does anyone know if the Nike edition Apple Watch will be up for preorder tonight? I know it comes later in October, but not sure if it's preorderable tonight or not. Thanks!

Cricket Wireless is wholly owned by AT&T, and runs on their network. It used to be CDMA, but is now GSM (like AT&T). I'm not sure if the CDMA version will work here.

My iPhone is locked to AT&T, but I can use my Cricket SIM without unlocking the phone.
I heard Cricket runs on AT&T, but I'm using an unlocked iPhone 6 on it from Verizon. So that's why I'm a little confused.

Get a case. That's what I'm doing.

I've gotten clear cases for most of my iPhones and even though it's "clear", it destroys the aesthetic. If I'm not gonna have it out in the open, I see no point in getting the Jet Black at all :/

I'm now leaning more towards the Silver, but haven't had a white fronted iPhone since the 4. I wonder if the glare/shine from the white face would be annoying in any situation.

Any insight into methods for getting through checkout on the Apple store as quickly as possible, and not getting bogged down in the rush of traffic? I'm looking to buy direct from Apple, though I could deal through AT&T if that's better.

But on that notes, if you're going to put a case on it, what difference does it make if you get jet-black?

from what I recall, the app works best. it's a bit late to make sure your payment methods are all in order

I think you'll be fine anyway

Whoa. Are those...scratches? From fingernails? I thought piano black was the one that easily scratched...

that is piano (jet) black

Use the Apple Store App on iOS. It worked well for me the past two upgrade cycles.

Forgot it's run by AT&T, thought it was Verizon. While AT&T is GSM, Cricket is CDMA, which is probably why it's listed under the CDMA model on Apple's site.

The GSM iPhone 7 does not support CDMA networks, so I'd go with the CDMA version.

Pre-ordering the iPhone 7 Plus 256GB in Jet Black (T-Mobile) with Apple Care Plus right at midnight using the Apple Store app. I'm having it sent to me through the mail rather than picking it up in store.

Should I be ok in getting it day one?

A couple of questions:

1. Does this mean I HAVE to buy at a Verizon store? Or can I buy at Apple on the Verizon payment plan and then go into Verizon later and trade in my 6?

2. How does this work if I want to trade in after a year?
