Metroid Prime Federation Force Announced (Next Level, 3DS, 4 Player, Mission Based)

I'm sorry, but this pretty much confirms it.
Metroid fans are some of the whiniest babies around.
Between this, "Fucking Donkey Kong" and constantly complaining about "Why isn't Retro making Prime 4?", it's just nothing but complaining and not giving anything a single chance.
It's a single damn trailer and it's a Next Level Games thing, who have shown what they can do in the past.
Give the game a chance. Come the fuck on.

People don't want spin-offs when the main series isn't continuing. Plain and simple.

It's clear that Nintendo has no idea what to do with Metroid after Other M. They obviously think we don't want their "SUPER SERIOUS" attempts at a Metroid game, despite them not even trying with that title, and now are attempting to kiddie-fy the series. After the failure that was Other M, you don't try to win fans back with something that doesn't even resemble what people want out of the series.

PffttWahahahahahahahahaah suck it Metroid fans

Clearly Retro studio is busy working on another Donkey Kong Country game. :p

Real answer, they clearly trying to expand the Metroid universe thus increasing the fan base.

Remember they said that they had two Metroid game in the work.

Metroid fans want a real Metroid game. We haven't gotten one in many years, and I'd make the argument that we haven't gotten a truly great once since 1994, or at least since 2002. That's up to debate, though, but no matter how you slice it, it's been a lot of years.

Whatever... this.. Is, it's not a real Metroid game. You don't need to give it a chance. I can say with 1000% confidence that I'll never play this in my life.

Im not even surprised, after the disaster that was Other M Nintendo is not going to take such a risk with Metroid, they dont take the same risk twice, thus an underwhelming but safe multiplayer game.

That said, this is still a Metroid game wich means Nintendo is looking at reestablishing the series, im expecting a full Metroid Prime 4 f
or the NX.

im not even being optimistic, just realistic Metroid for Wii U is not gong to happen, Prime is the future of the series.

Really I'm bothered about Nintendo's ridiculous IP usage. The game might totally be fun and I'll pick it up if there's good feedback on it.

But calling it "Metroid Prime"? Really? Why is Nintendo close to deficient when it comes to naming things? I always know that their games will be: "Brand You Know of: Stupid Gimmick Subtitle".

-Metroid Prime: Federation Force
-Animal Crossing: Stupid Party Game
-Star Fox Zero
-Zelda: Triforce Heroes
-Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

It's quite bad.

yeahh

If you told me this was a 2008 Gameloft game I'd believe you.

I'd quite like to find out more before I jump to too many conclusions. Sure, it's not the Metroid I wanted, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not a game I want. If you see what I mean.

Karma for fucking Donkey Kong, tis a shame for Metroid but well that's life for ya.

I'm actually kind of intrigued so the reactions are at least fun to witness.

I know people would rather overreact, but here's a simple take on this game:

This was meant to be a small Hunters-style diversion. And was meant to launch along a 'proper' entry, alas in an alternative healthy-wiiU universe. Clearly at this stage Retro are all NX.
Quite possible. Releasing Prime 4 on WiiU is sending it to die. Good for those of us who own WiiUs, but a bad business decision. Prime 4 as an NX launch game? That's the type of stuff that Nintendo needs to get off to a good start with their next console.

OK and I suppose Animal Crossing is dead too, what with two spin-offs being shown today. All we know is that a 'true' Metroid will not be released between now and Spring 2016.

I have to admit I hate the visuals for this game, I guess being a co-op game means concessions have to be made. Both environments and characters look hideously crude.

Unlike Metroid, there is a legitimate Animal Crossing release this generation. Metroid fans have been waiting for a long time for a proper entry in the series. Especially after the total shit pile that was Other M.

This game isn't even really Metroid, it's just using the name in order to try and get fans hyped and it backfired.

This is a weird complaint...?? You don't like subtitles I am guessing?

What are you talking about? This is just a cheap little side game farmed out to one of their smaller partners. They have done this many times with many of their franchises.

If this was anything close to representing the mainline Metroid series, Samus would be in it front and centre. This is just another Prime Pinball/Four Swords/DK Jungle Climber to fill out the schedule while either Retro or SPD work on the main game. Miyamoto already told us they are working on multiple Metroid concepts last year.

Well, this was basically worst case scenario for this game, but regardless, I have faith in Next Level to put out something that's fun to play. I understand why Nintendo is trying to pursue these sorts of multiplayer-centric experiences now, but this was hardly the announcement that the Metroid franchise needed right now. Surely someone at Nintendo must understand that this wasn't the way to rekindle people's love for the series?

Galaxy 3 and Prime 4 for NX launch would be incredible.

After the turd that was Other M it's good that they are taking their time. When the right team and the right concept come together, they will make the next Metroid. They are probably making it already.

The samus part of that gif is from metroid prime 3. Near the endgame, she's
Dying from the phazon in her stream, and is coughing large amounts of it up

Cool. Played Prime 3 to completion, must have forgotten that scene since it was a while ago.

The footage itself is from after you beat the first Leviathan boss in Metroid Prime 3, I believe.

Don't know why I can't remember it..

You're assuming they're even working on a flagship title. For all we know they've quietly killed the series and are sticking to spinoff titles for 3DS and mobile.

You people were down on Code Name Steam on first footage and it turned out fucking fantastic

I don't trust the internet to act appropriately to 3D 3DS games anymore
