None of this is nearly as fresh or appealing as you're making this out to be.dystopian, dark sci-fi, cyberpunk theme in space as a bounty hunter theme set to a Trent Reznor soundtrack?

Sure, i mean i only know of two other very old games where Trent composed the music for so if i have to go by your rules i guess you are right. It's very original. I don't see ANY games with the characteristics being described altogether. Yet somehow it's cliche and played out. Yet you can't point to a single game that combines those elements.
Current Naughty Dog are a satirised version of the company that released TLoU in 2013. It’s taking some people a little longer to accept it.I didn't see any of that in the trailer, vibe was more like Marvel's GotG or some Disney shit.
i'm using edgy in the classic sense, because, yes, it's pure '80's escapism, with those elements fundamentally serving almost as validation points. maybe I've just experienced one too many '80's retro future' adventures at this point?...Why are any of the things you listed edgy? Also — most of the “derivative” things you listed are peak 80s references. How do you suggest ND make an 80s retro future game without 80s references?

The fact you need to distill so many specific elements of it down to who made the music just further shows how unoriginal this looks. What AAA games are you playing that feature a dystopian, dark sci-fi, cyberpunk theme in space as a bounty hunter theme set to a Trent Reznor soundtrack?
Again, taste is lost on some of you folks. That trailer was outstanding and had distinctive style in spades.
What would you say it has in common with Blade Runner? I'm not seeing it man.It has more in common with Blade Runner

If people are going with this logic, nobody should be excited for Witcher 4, Crimson Desert or Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.I know you'll defend it to the death bro cause it's you, but to me, going by that trailer, it's doing nothing new in the originality or aesthetic department. I'm thoroughly unimpressed so far.
seriously. i watched it again, & there wasn't any 'dystopian, dark sci-fi, cyberpunk' in the version i saw whatsoever. there was just a super clean, high-tech badass little ship & an adult with an eye-patch...I didn't see any of that in the trailer, vibe was more like Marvel's GotG or some Disney shit.

Point still stands.I meant in terms of dystopian, cyberpunk, bounty hunting sci fi
You mean there’s no other game called Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet currently being made by a company called Naughty Dog in the state of California for release on the PS5 lead by a greasy cuckold called Neil Druckmann? It’s so original, never been done before in that specific way.The fact you need to distill so many specific elements of it down to who made the music just further shows how unoriginal this looks.
Syndicate 2012
The Ascent
Ruiner
Cyberpunk 2077

That is literally not what the trailer showed. At all. The whole thing screamed Guardians Of The Galaxy... again.
What would you say it has in common with Blade Runner? I'm not seeing it man.
And no other game with such characteristics being announced at TGA 2024 with release window for 2027. Brother everyone was calling TLOU generic zombie slop and a bad escort mission game after its first teaser. It had very little excitement until the E3 gameplay demoYep. its a bad trailer. TLOU2 gameplay reveal literally ended with two chicks making out and all everyone could talk about was the combat, graphics and new motion matching animations.
Here they just showed a fugly, unlikeable, prickly character who does fuck all. Even TLOU1's teaser had Ellie and joel kill some zombies. This chick just runs up to a monster and it cuts out.
Awful trailer for a game 4 years in the making. A complete failure of leadership from Neil who happens to be the head of Naughty Dog. And herman who shouldve hired a better marketing crew to make this 4.5 minute long trailer into a better advert.
Of course Neil tells NY Times this is the deepest game they've made. Yeah, well where is it you doofus? Guy works in hollywood now and doesnt realize how important it is to get a reveal right. Absolute tool.
It's a Sony game, he will go to the ends of the earth to defend it's honourseriously. i watched it again, & there wasn't any 'dystopian, dark sci-fi, cyberpunk' in the version i saw whatsoever. there was just a super clean, high-tech badass little ship & an adult with an eye-patch...
Sure, but the reasoning is retarded in a lot of cases.I think it's okay for people to not be excited over Naughty Dog's next game looking very derivative.
Name a game set in space, with 60s/70s sci-fi aesthetic, where you can land in hundreds of planets, with traditional rpg mechanics, ship customization, ship boarding that also has time-loop plotline.name a single game them!
Nobody can do it without looking ridiculous

Half this thread is people arguing about the validity of certain opinions and whether they should be shared (as much) on this forum. But why is this 50 pages?
Hard to consider myself anti ND when i bought many of their games, day1, just not TLOU2 and onwards, so im anti current day NDIt's hilarious this is 50 pages in like 20 hours... just checked TLOU2 story trailer thread, a whopping 3 pages.
Many of the anti-ND talking points remain utterly idiotic... but that's fine of course, if that's your opinion. But why is this 50 pages? It's just a teaser. Think about the first TLOU2 trailer. This like that is just an introduction to the vibe, that's it.
My honest reaction? What's the point of hiring a beautiful actress only to downgrade her in the process? Seems like a total waste of money. It makes no sense at all. I also think it's degrading to the actress and to her fans who want to see her likeness in the game. If someone scanned me for a game and turned me into a goblin without me being in on it I would be offended and assume the devs were taking the piss. It's a bizarre phenomenon that is now prevalent in almost all western developed AAA games. I don't understand why. You can have an attractive woman on display without making her a sex object. It's not a difficult thing to achieve.

Only one of those games is triple A, and none of them match. This game isn’t going to play anything like cyberpunk
No, it didn’t. It’s not some comedy cornball vibes.
Soundtrack, cinematography, eye patch girl AI, overall aesthetic of the ship with retro product placements, hovering over the other protagonists detailing the fact that they’re all criminals
Neil has confirmed this is going to be another emotionally charged narrative, yet suddenly it’s some GoTG clone, these surface level hot takes are just bad
Going by the covid pandemic, 90% of the Western world is retarded. So you're not far off.
Sawyer, you were listing off all of these buzz terms as if any of that will sell the game.So give an example instead of repeating ad nauseum generic talking points that are nothing more than shallow hot takes
Maybe play different games then, because I never played a game with such women except for Concord.Im sick of seeing and playing as frumpy, cunty androgynous women. Especially ones that reek of being designed during the Summer of Love 2020.
I think that reasoning is quite un-retarded.
Your requirements are impossible. What you are asking here? A game that's exactly the same? Same story, protagonist, genre, gameplay, setting, etc?Only one of those games is triple A, and none of them match. This game isn’t going to play anything like cyberpunk
Fair enough that you feel burnt out on this setting but objectively it is seen less frequently than say modern military shooters, fantasy WRPGs, anime JRPGs, or soulsbournes.i'm using edgy in the classic sense, because, yes, it's pure '80's escapism, with those elements fundamentally serving almost as validation points. maybe I've just experienced one too many '80's retro future' adventures at this point?...
Buddy, we really don't have a clue what the gameplay will be about. That part at the end could hint at anything.
You can't? I guess Starfield must be this super unique and original game then.
Just looked it up. 24k likes. 202 dislikes. There were one or two idiots calling it generic zombie slop but literally 99% of the reception was positive.Brother everyone was calling TLOU generic zombie slop and a bad escort mission game after its first teaser. It had very little excitement until the E3 gameplay demo
you're right. i'm thinking seeing the messy bed / papers stuck to the wall thing within the first few seconds may've somehow sorta hyper-triggered me ...Fair enough that you feel burnt out on this setting but objectively it is seen less frequently than say modern military shooters, fantasy WRPGs, anime JRPGs, or soulsbournes.
The only interesting talking points are the obvious product placements, which I thought was cool.
I agree. What is the damn point. Same applies for men.My honest reaction? What's the point of hiring a beautiful actress only to downgrade her in the process? Seems like a total waste of money. Is this the famous goalpost moving?Starfield has none of the aesthetics or narration quality on display. The gameplay is also nowhere close to the same.
But it’s in outerspace therefore it’s the same!!
This a laughably bad, shallow take.
