I mean if Golden State wins this game they'll only have done what they were supposed to do and win the first home games. Its like people are new to the playoffs or something.

Usually games 3 & 5 are the pivotal point of a competitive series.
Yeah it's no biggie, Cavs just have to win 4 out of the next 5 games against a team that has only lost 2 in a row once the entire season and post season.

No big deal at all. Win 4 out of 5 against the now 85-14 Warriors? No problem.

Are you trying to convince us, or yourself? Cause I can't tell.

He must be. No sane person would act like going down 0-2 is par for the course and not a big deal.

I saw on Reddit teams that win game 1 in a play-off series 71% of the time are the winners of that series. I have to imagine teams that win both game 1 and 2 are well over 80%.

wat? Even numbered games are by far the most important.

Realistically the Cavs will have to win 2 at GS in order to win the series (as GS will probably take one in cleveland). GS has only lost a few games at home all year.

Isn't it like 100% for the finals?

How is the league able to get away with allowing Scott Foster to referee when he was heavily involved with the person who was caught and thrown in jail for fixing games?!??!?!?

Well this is going to make Rambis's post look even more absurd.

A team that starts a playoff series 2-0 in the NBA as goes on to win that series 94% of the time. 94.

OKC buddy
OKC was incapable of winning 4 out of 5 games against the Warriors.

You're overhyping that record. It means nothing here, the series started 0-0. Cavs were in this last game mostly. If they clean up their turnovers and figure out that bench they could easily take this one. You only have to win one game at a time.

Huh? I can't tell what the hell you're going on about, explain please?

You say we can't write off a team that goes 0-2. That we don't know the playoffs if we do. Yet teams that go down 0-2 only win a playoff series 6% of the time. Going down 0-2 is a very very big deal.

Um they're not at all? Game 3 is the usually the 1-1 tiebreaker. Game 5 the 2-2 tiebreaker. Those are by far the most important games besides potential closouts. Its really not even up for debate.

Man the storylines if GS wins this are gonna be crazy.

Curry is going to be crowned and Lebron officially dethroned. Will anyone be able to say anything about the validity of the Warriors if they win against a fully healthy squad this time around?

Honestly, I have a hard time liking the cavs when i got to experience the Heatles era. What a magnificent display of theatre. Lebron was so amazing with D-Wade by his side and Bosh supporting them both by not being a part of the villainy, but by being a goddamn amazing baller. Could you imagine Lebron joining the retooled heat cast and a healthier d wade to try to stop the 3-peat of the Warriors next season?
The ratings would be absolutely bonkers. I'd love to see the Cav fans' reactions though lmao

Who cares? Those are just blanket, contextless numbers. How many of those series were actually closely contested?

That game was never close, even when Cavs went up by 1 for a few seconds. OKC and Warrior games were always a lot more tense, this was running through the motions type of game for the Warriors. I expect a different Cavs team tonight though, one that isn't so awful.

At least my 06 Mavs team helped to even that stat out a bit :(

You sir are a scholar. Thanks.

so those numbers don't mean anything, but your proclamation that games 3 and 5 are the most important does?
Usually. Did you miss that?

So, we know that a team going up 2-0 wins 94% of the time (as opposed to a series being tied 1-1). The fourth game is either a sweep or someone potentially going up 3-1 (which, if I recall from the OKC/GS series means about a 90% win rate).

Can you just admit that game 6 is a somewhat critical game? lol

The percentages say that the even numbered games are more critical. Should I flourish a discussion ending "its really not even up for a debate." tag on here?

So much salt on this thread. Maybe LeBron should stop running over so many Gaffers dogs. Cavs got this game. No matter what stat you wish to get embedded to.

Game 6 is a potential closeout, so by virtue of my post, its important. Its not that hard friend.

Also the forth game could end in the series being split 2-2. Unless the 4th is a closeout, then game 5 would be the more pivotal game.

I hate that referees can essentially fuck up a game because they're given free rein to call bullshit calls. Where's the check on them?

Dubs chances went from 80% to 50-50 just because of Foster reffing this game. Factor in that Cavs are going to better than they were in G1 and Dubs might be complacent and I would bet on Cleveland taking this one in the last minute.

It's a shame that most of the positive Cavs posts are just gut feelings, found less intensity measurements, and claims of undebatable stats with no facts to back it up.

Nothing really.

I was actually shocked that the system basically works on seniority over competence.

A guy like Foster is going to get a Finals game because of his 20 years despite ethics questions and clear performance issues simply because of his length of time in the league.

No but for real, some of the narratives you guys run with is straight up laughable. You're grow ass men seething over another dude, wishing him failure, because he made decisions in his life that all of you would have made.

Would you do whatever it takes to win a championship? Yes.

Would you want to play on a team with your friends? Yes.

Would you want to live in Miami instead of Cleveland? Yes.

Would you televise your decision to leave Cleveland and embarrass them? No, but that's ok, because he's human and is allowed to make mistakes. Get over it.

Whether the Cavs win or lose tonight, I'm gonna enjoy the game because I'm a basketball fan. You guys enjoy the drama more than you do actual basketball.

I think no one cares if one likes the Cavs better. Everyone has a favorite team. It's the idea that they are capable of beating a healthy Warriors in a 7 game series that is just too hard to really consider realistic. They are woefully outmatched. I love my Pistons but I knew they weren't beating the Cavs in round 1. The only arguments in the Cavs favor center around delusional hope.
