Whether you like it or now, it's happening, a PS6 Portable is in development and planned to launch alongside the PS6, as one of the core options to enter the PS6 generation.
Votes on the other poll were definitely about the home console, but I was now *extremely* curious to see opinions specifically about the handheld console.

What you need to know about it:
And btw, it's not a PS5 Portable:

No interest in portables except for some light gaming on my iPad (too hard for me to enjoy a game on a screen smaller than 10 inches).

As long as Sony don't attempt to support 2 platforms then yes, likely

By that I mean I don't think they can support separate game libraries, development takes too long, it's not 2005 anymore.

- Portable must play all games released on PS6.

- PS6 must play all games released on portable.

Also, I find PC handhelds to be bulky and ugly, make it sexy and sleek like PSP.

If it plays all PS6 games, probably. Having a RoG Xbox and one of these will cover all my bases for gaming and be super portable. Winning.

I need to see more information before I can even consider the idea of buying one. Sony better be consulting third-party developers regarding this handheld and what specs they should provide the system with. Otherwise, it would be another Xbox Series S debacle again.

It's pretty cool if Sony is providing their own version of the Steam Deck for PlayStation gamers. Sure, they might be optimizing the heck out of their games to run on the system with reduced specs, but given the Steam Deck can run every game providing you turn down settings; if Sony plays their cards right, making sure the handheld is designed well, and reasonably price, they might be selling a lot of this handheld.

I don't think a portable handheld needs to be associated with PS6; just evolve the PlayStation Portal to be a fully standalone portable device and have it play games from any generation, including the next. It can just play down-rezzed versions of the graphical showpiece titles. Who cares.

A next-gen 2028 console called PS6 that's also a handheld with worse/the same graphics than the gen before it, though? No thanks.

If the handheld is cheap/ powerful for the price and have a big enough library I will be open to take one. I would not take one if Steam or Xbox make a really better one but that would be unlikely in my opinion.

Doesn't it just make more sense for Sony to replease a PS6 Portable and sell an pluggable Dock with an EGPU that boosts the graphics up to 8k/120 and an SSD slot / Ethernet port instead of selling two separate consoles. If you want a handheld you buy the base and if you want later buy the upgraded Dock? What's preventing this!? The handheld just needs 1080p/120

Useless to vote without knowing what games it will have.

…If a new portable Sony console is to ever release in the first place.

I am very interested in a portable, but it must play everything at 60fps and at least medium-high visuals while also having a battery lasting at least 3h. I ain't getting that, so fuck portable.

No. Same reason why I'm not buying any of the "portable" gaming devices - I have no place or time to use them.

I don't think Sony have the Studio's to support it unless it plays all future PS5/6 games. So that's a no from me.

If they produce a handheld powerful enough that all their games actually come out on it, and not in some mess of a state...I'd likely buy it over the console itself.

Throw in them increasing emulation efforts to get all most of their back catalog on it, and that has more value to me than another AMD box that is barely different than Microsoft's.

We aren't getting impressive jumps in graphics anymore, so I'll take the portability that I can just plug into a TV.

The fact that it says PS6 Portable in the title explains what games it will play.
So its confirmed its actually called PS6 portable and that it plays all future PS6 games native?

I've not been keeping up with the latest news.

your RoG Xbox Ally X will play playstation games (through steam), so why need 2 handhelds?

ok it probably will run native PS6 games a lot better than a pc handheld.

Same. Being able to take my games on the road with me trumps everything else.

This is relevant to the discussion, you're not using the same hardware architecture on two different devices if they aren't part of the same family of systems:
Every PS6 game requiring to be also available on PS6 Portable remains to be seen.

I see, so nothing confirmed then.

Clearly not.

I don't have a need for a portable gaming device. If I am out and about I'd rather not be gaming tbh. If I was on a train or whatever (which happens rarely), I'd just come on here or read something else on the Internet.

I have Steam Deck, Switch 2, will get the Xbox Ally, so yeah, would be weird to not get the PS6P as well.

I will get it because the thought of having my entire playstation library on a portable device is very appealing.
I also like buying new technology

Portable PS6? PS6 portable? Future of gaming?
No Way Funny Meme GIF

Yeah if they nail BC it's going to be great. Not everything will get a PC port so even if PC handhelds eventually run all the new games there won't be the entire library there.

Could you clarify whether or not this rumoured device will play all PS6 games?

Surely if it only plays games up to PS5 then it should be classed as part of the PS5 family.

Sure. It wont be the main focus but it will probably be good when you are out on holiday or if the TV is otherwise occupied.

If I can play PS6 games on PC then I just won't have a reason to get either version of the PS6.

I've predicted a number of things that have actually happened, but I never predicted PlayStation software would be available on PC*. I suppose that's the reality of any business; if there's money to be made somewhere then somewhere is where the business will go.

*Sony/SOE games excluded.

Nope, I have 0 interest in portable gaming. The only reason for me to get a portable console is if it had a shitload of amazing exclusives that couldn't be played any other way, then I might get one.

If Sony starts releasing 100% exclusive games I personally would consider must-play again, then I'd probably get one. But overall I'm done with any large investments into walled gardens after this gen. 1995-2025, what a ride. ❤️

No, I have all the parts for a PC in my Amazon basket at the moment and debating whether to just leave console forever now.

While I do like My PS5 I'm just frustrated at how limited it all feels now and how it's such a pain not having one place to play anything I want how I want.

Maybe, sometime. Portable gaming is not high on my list of priorities. Though, I do enjoy the portal from time to time. Having full access to my library without having to deal with internet would be great. But, only if there is a way to sync progress between the console and the portable.

- Portable must play all games released on PS6.

That would only happen if every physical game is also released digitally as I expect PS6 Portable to be digital only. If you get physical for PS6 I doubt they will gift you the digital version for the portable.

How can one make a decision now based on half-baked rumors? Ask me again when it officially gets announced and we know exactly what it is.

Doubt it. I can't imagine it making more sense than a Steam Deck or other portable gaming PC for me.

Maybe I'd get one if it supports Steam games like the Xbox handheld 😆

Pretty sure every game released physically on PS5 has been available digitally

Thanks but I like the "$6k+ Gaming PC, 18" Gaming Laptop, Switch 2, Xbox/PC Series X console" combo. All my clients in my country, when I travel, %99 of the times for tourism or vacation, so I prefer using android tablet for riddles/cards/board games.
