Its pretty easy to buy CU's. But the rest of the specs are average, SSD is a low end, usb slots are not new, why is it not WIFI 6. This is cutting corners on tech. And worse of all this shit look premium? This off the shelf parts at its finest.

yeYuK9C.png

I'll be honest, as long as it doesn't RROD and the games play as advertised, I couldn't care less how the insides are set up. That goes for both systems. Why they didn't go for Wifi6 is a bit confusing, but the rest.. meh. USB Slots are USB Slots.

The SSD choice, I thought, was to help keep costs down. Instead, I view the XSS XSX choice as a business deal between MS and Seagate.
If I can buy a WD Black NVME 1TB with much faster speeds than the SSD I have to buy from Seagate for $10 less, I'd want the much faster NVME every single time. I'd add that the new WD Black also comes in a 2 TB option (at double the cost) where I am locked into whatever TB that Seagate offers for their expansion drive.

this is just FUD. taking a quote outside of context, and spread bullshit about xbox, like seriously, did you even read the fucking quote?

Their issue was that you couldn’t UPGRADE the mac pro, you couldn’t put a bigger GPU inside the box.

That seems to explain why the Mac Pro, until today, went more than three years without spec refresh — an entirely unworkable situation for pro users who need top-of-the-line hardware.

Schiller told reporters that the Mac Pro’s thermal issues “restricted our ability to upgrade it

That was the issue, nothing else. No thermal issues. Everything is running fine as is, you just couldn’t upgrade.
soo when you are saying xbox will have the same fate then it just meants that you cant put a bigger gpu inside the xbox series x. So what? Is there any console in history where you can upgrade the GPU on your own? lol

There's nothing to FUD. When multiple people with actual units say the xbox gets hot. And we all know why. The design choice is not the best. Same issue with the trash can mac just do a google plenty of post about overheating. I guess everyone is lying now that their machines overheat?? Including the engineers.

I don't understand you people capping for corporations. When they fuck up ,they fuck up. That's it. You corporate slaves doing free PR work make me sick. Nobody is sending you a free XSX.

Your fanboyness can't change whats actually told to us from actual XSX users. We should be happy that they are telling the truth ffs. Not sweeping stuff under the rug. SMH

You fanboys are weirdo's.

Explain to me why you would need wifi 6. Why? Ethernet is million times better anyways and the wifi that XSX is absolutely enough for everyone. Wifi is a waste of money. You don’t need it for the games. Otherwise tell me a good use case.
Uhhh not everyone has an ethernet connection right next to their TV. I've used WiFi on the PS4 since release. I tried using power plug adaptors but WiFi was always better, and that's using a shitty old wireless receiver that the original PS4 had.

I for one am super happy to be able to get wifi6.

Redgamingtech to live steam in an hour on ZEN 3 reveal 👍 if all goes to plan.

Hopefully the same again on the 28th for RDNA 2 event, I hope we get some answers on the RDNA features of both consoles on that day. 😉

Slight correction, we have multiple people with actual units saying the unit vents heat, all of them saying that reports of overheating ore incorrect.

Also, it's not the smartest thing to look at one design and use it as a proof of result for a completely different design. The mac pro was much more ambitious with its dual gpu setup + separate CPU, especially given the positioning. Also, longevity of the 2013 Mac Pro is just fine, the unit just couldn't sustain more powerful components than those found in the original configuration. This isn't an issue for a console, when MS designs a more powerful system, it will get its own case (same with Sony).

It doesn't really matter if you can boil an egg off the side of the unit (looks at PS4 Slim) as long as the silicone and board temps are good and the unit is reliable. PS4 slim and pro have been rock solid as far as reliability from what I've seen reported. Heat != overheating.

When it comes to Wifi 6 there were probably 3 reasons they did this. Wifi 6 hasn't been adopted properly, by that time they might launch the next Xbox. Cost saving. Maybe most Xbox users use wired connections (unlikely).

The internal SSD isn't cheap or slow. Combined with VA it's pretty fast for today's standards. External SSD, Microsoft said that other's can create expansion drives. They just worked closely together with Seagate because they wanted something at launch.

I didn't say that the XSS/XSX was cheap or slow. Not at all. What I was trying to state was that for the same price as the Seagate 1TB drive for the XSS/XSX, the PS5 allows NVME options that are available the same capacity and faster speeds. There are also capacity options, at least with the upcoming WD Black SN850 variants. There is a hellishly expensive version at 2 TB, as well, and I think a 4TB listing as well. Currently, all we know about for the XSS/XSX are the Seagate 1TB drive.

Currently, the prices for XSX SSD are the same as the expansion for the PS5, but the PS5 expansion is almost 3 times faster...

That's what happens when you leave the prices to a competitive market instead of having proprietary technology where you decide the prices.

XSX expansion is over-priced once compared to any SSD on the market that "might" be usable for PS5.

Serious question here but why does Microsoft not have a USB type c port on their console?

Is the thing to expensive or something, why would you not want to future proof your console, i am struggling to understand why it is missing?

AFAIK PS5 has 3x USB 3.1 Gen 2, 10Gbps, and XSX has only USB 3.0 (also known as 3.1 Gen 1), 5Gbps. PS5 has wifi6 vs wifi5 on XSX, and PS5 has Bluetooth 5.1 vs NO FUCKING BLUETOOTH on XSX. We'll know more about these going forward and seems like one won't age well.

EDIT: XSX has no bluetooth, sorry. Thanks to SportsFan581 SportsFan581 for pointing that out.

Official Xbox accounts launch new taunts at Sony for the size of PS5, its base ... which they then delete

It looks like something I could put together after a quick trip to Micro Center :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yeah not the best looking. Hella crammed. They could of made a better ITX box build. But that's what they picked. So just roll with it. Critique,Memes & praise.

Alright man. We heard ,what we heard. Lets hope this ain't a thing that pops up again 2-6 months in for xbox guys.
But yeah run with whatever spin you have if it makes you feel better. Its cool. Agree to disagree.

Its FUD not because a device is hot means has a problem in performance, I am not specialized in material or design of hardware like looks like many here are
but I know enough to know I cant talk as expert in all the areas of development of a console.

Not because my PS4 pro get hot means have a problem, not because the XSX expulse warm air means have a problem, you need more data than only that,
if the console is released and we received multiple reports of overheating then yes the console have a problem.

I am not defending Microsoft but I am not understand how users who thinks than expulse warm air means the console have a problem, please never build a PC
they will think their PC will blow up or something in the end if the console have a problem the most harmed will be Xbox

so now spilling water on consumer eletronics is just a xsx problem, if you spill water on ps5 what do you think will happen? Do you think it will absorb it and make you a tea from one of the dust holes? for god's sake at least don't be stupid when you try to be a console warrior. this is getting ridiculous, just buy what you like more and stop

The card format for Xbox is far better for me, there will be at least three Series consoles in my house, being able to have what I'm playing on an easily detachable card and just take it from machine to machine will be a massive advantage.
The data that is stored on those is probably encrypted so that only one machine can use it anyway. Otherwise, what is stopping you from from loading games on there and selling them on Ebay?

Why is Xbox so insecure.
Taking all these console war jabs is kind of unprofessional.
Especially when the competition isn't even paying you any mind.

I don't think this is fanboys defending things as much as just trying to be reasonable given the lack of evidence. Saying something gets 'hot' with anecdotal evidence is NOT the same as saying there's a heat PROBLEM. Unless/until there are reports of the units actually getting hot and shutting down or crashing.......

Just going off of a few people saying a console is hot, does not indicate an actual issue. A LOT of electronics get hot when you use them. Most have warnings about proper ventilation, etc. as well. That's not because they are crappy designs, it's just a fact of electronics and physics.

So again, to be fair, I don't think this is 'fanboys' defending the XSX because...reasons.. It's just people saying that there is no actual ISSUE, at least not yet, that can and should be considered. As I mentioned earlier in this thread...I remember people making a meme about cooking bacon on the original PS3. I had one as well and it would indeed get hot after hours of use...but it didn't crash and didn't have problems. So that just is what it is. Unless your metric is demanding a console that you don't feel any heat coming from...it's only reasonable to expect that they will indeed get warm or 'hot.'

So until we have actual reports and evidence of some console overheating and having issues, I think it's counter-productive to argue about what is currently NOT an issue and call each other 'fanboys' over it.

no one knows honestly. i want to know that as well.

If so it would be great for people who already have spare drives and just want the extra space internally. Theoretically, games should be transfered over in under a minute in either direction. This would potentially be a better solution than a USB nvme drive. Would also make it more bareable to wait for the officially supported drives that allow PS5 games to be directly played.

I don't know, there is so much bullshit going on. To me, it seems if you just mention the word heat, it brings in an army of the usual rabid fanboys. seconds later they are all trying to get you banned.

i have felt this the last couple of days, simple questions get met with "you have committed the gravest of sins" after that it spirals out of control.

I love having fun, and i have had a lot of laughs at a lot of people but i also give a lot of sony fans a lot of grief about too. Do i mean any of this personally, not i don't, but i feel the pushback from the other side is real hate?

for me, this place has lost its fun, its sparkle. 5 weeks until the consoles come out then i think i will retire from here.
These people take this shit way to seriously,

Yeah, I hear you. Nothing wrong with discussing stuff like this either, especially if you're taking some report like this and JUST discussing it rather than representing it as industry wide fact or something. But as you say...humans tend to identify STRONGLY with things they buy....teams or groups that they follow, etc. We're very tribal and divide ourselves into groups a lot. From Ford/Chevy and cars to favorite sports team...then to these plastic boxes that we buy for entertainment and want to believe we made the BEST choice...some tend to get REALLY invested in it all.

I don't know about 'retiring' from this place. It's a lot of fun. I do assume the thread will be closed down sometime after release since there will be no more 'speculation' needed, but there will be other places to discuss new things. Real world performance and of course the inevitable comparisons between games running on both platforms... Point is, there's still a lot to discuss.

As for THIS thread...I still feel there's an awful lot we don't know, so we can still speculate on a lot. So still a lot of fun and hopefully mature dialog to be had!
