Genuine question, how do Sony treat their UI during a console life cycle? Has the PS4 UI changed significantly over the last 7 years?

They have added a fair amount functionality wise but the core UI had a strong identity and functional design to begin with, and that has been maintained. Games across the middle and front and centre, down will give you more info about the game you are currently on, up goes to OS functionality like friends/party/settings etc. It's just a solid and clear basis that means I always know what I need to press and where I need to go to do what I want to do.

I got that Hemnes from 1:52 and I am fucking afraid to put PS5 in there because of air flow on the right side of console. At the back there is no wall so it would be able to push out hot air there. What do you think guys? Tbh I don't other places - only behind TV.

I would go vertical.

TBH mine is a different model, has a bit more space and airflow but... i might go vertical as well. Most likely will get some dbrand skins or custom plates just to better fit with living room.

Do not put any console in any tight space without some space for airflow on the sides, above it, in front, and behind. Ideally, the only surface near the console is the one its resting on.

The PS UI has changed a lot but Sony have done it well. They haven’t pushed stuff in anyone’s face or changed the look and feel.

They’ve quietly added features and improvements without regressing things and maintaining useability.

Do you think we will get anthing big from Sony before launch?

I mean for them there is not a lot of reason to drop another bomb at this time. We will get UI and BC gameplay, more announced games gameplays maybe. I could expect big things before pre-orders but after that I don't think Sony many reasons to reveal any suprises. PS5consoles are all sold out, they are a marked leaders. Unless they provided many more units their marketing will resolve around events like christmass etc.

I think we can see something before christmass. But still if they don't ramp up a prodiction there is no reason for them to "drop the bombs". In their current possition it is better to have steady slow-paced info-drops.

Microsoft on the other hand... should let hell loose/release the kranken/drop the bombs. They are the underdog and need to make use of the time before launch and christmass.

Does any of that really matter now? PS & Xsex are both sold out as far as launch goes.

The biggest marketing will come immediately post launch with game reviews, videos, streams.

Yeah somebody may need to cut him out of his house to save his life for sure. I forget that some gamers actually have a lot of issues and escape to this hobby to replace the lack of dopamine they need. So we should expect anti social/ damaged people to rant and stand hard for trivial things in life because its all they have. I come from a military background so we had structured times for gaming.
I love this forum and have learned how to navigate it. Just like in life I've had prejudices and racism here however I've also made some cool ass friends who have amazing other hobbies as well.

It’s kind of been expected to be that way for at least a few months now.

There was Cerny’s thing implying it had cache ram somewhere in the SSD pipeline.

For Xsex there was a linked-in CV from a guy claiming to have developed a DRAM-less SSD controller for Xsex.

So nothing 100% confirmed but I guess that mobo shot offers a bit more support to some kind of buffer on PS5.

We still need to see PS5s revamped UI, as well as what new features are available via Create. There is also PS Now and potential PS+ additions.

Looking at the tech behind Sony's SSD(seeing a DRAM cache) makes me want to see it in true action. Is it really as lightning fast as the claims have been? I'm really fascinated to see the claim the Kena devs made in action.

I think Sony may do one more SoP where they show off this stuff replete with final game launch trailers and maybe a surprise or two.

I can honestly say it has never affected my usage of the Xbox One X. Controllers and headsets work fine.
