Murray has to excel well beyond expectations, Savard will have to graduate to be a top-line defenseman, JMFJ has to play like he got snubbed for the olympics, Tyutin has to suddenly not be old, and Dalton Prout has to stop being a damn liability.
So in short, yeah, the defense is going to hold them back. But if Officer Bob's partner gets killed before retirement and the offense plays out of their mind, I can see them doing damage in the playoffs. My best-case scenario for them is a competitive 2nd-round exit, but it really just depends on the matchup. The defense just isn't there yet. It will be when people like Palliotta, Gabe Carlsson, Heatherington, and Werenski replace the likes of Johnson/Tyutin/Prout, but that's a solid 2 to 3 years from now.
Doesn't matter though, they're going to be a lot of fun to watch this year, especially if that top line stays healthy. Saad-Johansen-Foligno were able to tally 10-15-25 through essentially 2 1/2 games including games against Pittsburgh and Nashville's A squad. Hell that top line accounted for 3 of the top 5 in points leaders through the pre-season. But...y'know...preseason and all that.

Yeah my third and final draft I'm doing for the season. Definitely focused on different things to try and give myself a different type of team.
Not too hard to enjoy your team when youre "not home" to watch the games they lose.
