Nintendo should focus on better franchises than Xenoblade

because
and to be frank
if you're getting a switch, you likely don't give a shit about racing games (outside of mario kart) to begin with
that includes F-Zero
And also the fact that nintendo won't bring F-Zero back unless they can find a new way to slap a stupid gimmick onto the game
it is a dead franchise, and with the current state of Nintendo i highly doubt they can make something that will surpass F-Zero GX
there is no shame in replaying 15-20 year old games

It still has turn based elements. The combat is boring in my opinion. They need to work on that.
Turn based? Not even close, you have never clearly tried it. I get it, you just want to button mash and don't want deep combat because it overwhelmes you.

The combat... Which one? The 1 combat? The 2 combat? They're not equal, you clearly haven't played them, like... Just know a little about them without having a clear idea of what they're about.

I just don't like the style of combat and want something more action oriented.

I speak for a lot of people.

Stay mad
See? I was right regarding you just wanting brainless button mashing.

Then go play something else.

Absolutely, but Nintendo doesn't care as much about their western fans. Japan has always been the most important to them.

Fzero is an old franchise and the market for it is a lot bigger now.

They could beat Xenoblades 2's 2 million in sales with a new one with online. It would probably blow it away.
I'm a western Nintendo fan with strong bone for anime and Japanese stuff in general, let us get what we want

Xenoblade has been on much better selling platforms all totaled.

....

Today, f zero has the hype of years and years of internet interest building and would no doubt do far better than it ever did.
Xenoblade have been on:
- XC1: Japan and Europe only, had to be hard begged for it to come to America

- XCX: Wii U...

- XC2: Switch first year, it's userbase was barely bigger than Wii U iirc...

- XCDE: Third port of the same game, novelty was already lost for many

- XC3: Finally the first installment coming out without "special" system situations conditioning it's sales

Dude people would go nuts! Even casual players would pick it up by word of mouth or Twitter hype.

Also Switch is a software selling giant, tis no GameCube.
As they picked Metroid Dread in masses? It sold the most along other Metroid games but far from being a big mainstream hit

they have an entire team with jrpg background and that shit sells well.

contrary to f-zero that doesn't sell well and nintendo has no one internally with the know how on how to make za good futuristic race game

what do you think their next project will bde

It's simple. Nintendo needs first party software to sell the hardware and attract third party software. They need an exclusive tentpole traditional jRPG in their lineup (besides Pokemon and Fire Emblem).

Xenoblade fills that role better than Golden Sun or Glory of Heracles did. And they need it since they aren't getting games like Final Fantasy 16.

'It is realistically difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people request,' said Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa
That's Japanese for « never ever ». But at least you can play X via the Switch Online sub and it's as good as ever.

Also they should bring back Eternal Darkness, they don't have any good horror franchise right now.

Hey hey leave Golden Sun out of this. >:U

Maybe one day Golden Sun will return to greatness but the time is not now. Especially since Camelot half assed Dark Dawn and let Sveta die a sad death with a cliffhanger ending.

Golden Sun remake with Monolith behind assisting with graphics and technology

Pyra would beat the sh*t out of Captain Falcon, & that's the bottom line, because smug Pyra said so.
Not fair, Pyra is a F DLC character, they're the most broken 😶

The market for F-Zero is bigger, but partly as a result so is the competition, and one of those games is Mario Kart.

Xenoblade has less competition as good 3D open world adventure collectathon games are harder to make, and it doesn't compete against any other Nintendo franchise, not even new Zelda.

OP were you that guy who purchased a bunch of Nintendo stock just so you could ask a question at their shareholders meeting?

Personal opinion, leave Xenoblade series alone, it's not a dumpster fire and it sells decently. I hope they release another F-Zero one day but my personal GOAT Nintendo series is Earthbound/Mother and it's not getting much attention either.

The thing that's most ridiculous about this entire thread is everyone talking like Metroid, a franchise that has sold 20 million game copies, won game awards for Nintendo, and every indie devver cribs from, is in anything resembling a comparable scenario to F-Zero in regard to potential sales and reception.

The 2nd most ridiculous thing about this thread is the blind belief that a new F-Zero will resemble GX even though it has among the lowest sales of the entire franchise and is arguably considered the franchise killer internally, even if it's the one the fans love most. Very few of Nintendo's other IPs have such an inverse relationship between sales and fan satisfaction.

The 3rd most ridiculous thing about this thread is the delusional belief that any of this would tie into the existence of Xenoblade games, which are made by a studio that was never involved in either of those IP. What are you complaining about, Xenoblade 3 getting "too many ads" or something? As if Nintendo's marketing arm is somehow keeping you from getting your F-Zero game? Imagine if you acted out that way regarding Fire Emblem games when Awakening trailers came out, when that franchise was arguably in worse shape than Xenoblade during the Wii era.

I'd love to get new entries in franchises like F-Zero, Wave Race, 1080 Snowboarding and Excitebike, but yeah, I highly doubt any of them would do over a million these days. The days for those genres are well past us.

As for Xenoblade - it might not sell gangbusters like Mario or Pokémon, but it sells consistently. It makes people buy a Switch and gets them invested in Nintendo's ecosystem. Something a racing or xtreme sports game won't do any more in 2022.

As for personal opinions - all Xenoblade games are absolutely fantastic so suck it. :P

I'd be up for Monolith doing something other than Xenoblade/RPGs. Not F-Zero though, but I think a new action/adventure IP from them could be really cool.

I think Nintendo are in a great place at the moment and have been managing to get a bunch of good games. F-Zero would be nice but Xenoblade (even in just the 2 hours I've played of it this week) is way better.

Dude has a point they could focus on other IP they own.

Oh wait didn't Nintendo just announce there pulling the plug on that mobile gatcha game they own the new IP for? Dragalia Lost.

Yeah I think they should make an Switch RPG on that, and it technically means the OP gets what he wants too, anouther IP from Nintendo being worked on.

Because Xenoblade actually has a development studio that cares, unlike Fzero. Also that studio helped with Breath of the wild, so they can do whatever the f they want.

F-zero is never coming back the way you want it. It's a difficult game, it doesn't go with their whole expanded audience mantra. Even if it came back, watch how many people complain about how easy it is.

OP, your opinion is trash. Yes, i wish we got a new F-zero, but i also love the xenoblade games.
they are some of the best AAA modern Jrpg we have around.

*Looks ar OP*

Nintendo was missing JRPG's; now Xeno is their flagship game in that department. What they need to do is revive and/or expand their portfolio more. Third parties are finally helping with that but it would be nice to get an actually good Starfox game or something.

Lmao, troll post. Xenoblade is top notch franchise, it's so good... Between fire emblem, Xenoblade, Zelda and Metroid I became a total Nintendo fan, not even Mario no matter how good the mainline are, and among them Xenoblade has the Crown, it's just so good. Nintendo, never stop letting Monolith do their RPG, those people are basically gifted RPG makers ❤️
Best Nintendo dev, in my opinion.

Maybe F-zero doesn't get the sales numbers they want?

Maybe wipeout has taken the player base away for F-zero. Just because you don't like one game doesn't mean another game should replace it

I wanna know how OP gets away with making such bad threads on the regular.

F-Zero is fire but they aren't gonna top GX ever and Nintendo needs a JRPG flagship. Mario Kart has racing covered unfortunately.

I hope Monolith starts a new jrpg series after Xenoblade. They deserve a higher budget, and I want them to move away from the anime aesthetic and make future games in a more (semi)-realistic style, like Final Fantasy. FF is pretty much the only jrpg series without anime-style characters, and it would be nice if it had some actual competition.

I was right there with you until the middle.

Nope.

People don't want a medieval jrpg where the main character is from a small quaint village and gets roped into a bigger story anymore?

I want iron armor and steel swords, with half/full plate armor, lamellar and claymores and halberds. Bustling towns/cities and mountainous paths.

Realistic anime faced FF though?
With the stupid looking hair that would require an insane amount of mousse/gel to really stay like that?

What would be the point in making not-Final Fantasy when all its gonna get is derided for not being final Fantasy?

And for the record, FF is still hella anime, even if they're trying to make it look realistic. Don't fall for the okeydoke

Eh, that's only true for some FF games. FF12 and 16 for example have the right mix of stylized and realistic imo. That's the kind of style I want to see from Monolith going forward. A game like that would stick out much more from the mass of anime jrpgs than Xenoblade ever did.

I'll agree with FF12, as that had some great designs.

I won't agree in regards to Xenoblade, which is something I'm not even enamored with but outside of Pokemon/FF/DQ and FE/Persona, Xenoblade is selling better than all the others.

If BOF sold like Xenoblade we'd still be getting them.

Let Valkyrie Elysium and Star Ocean sell 2.2 million copies each.

We'd see both series back in a major way if it happened(which it won't but a man can dream)

And its not just over 2.2 million copies. Its over 2 million copies at pretty much the same price it was at release.

Actually, both series give Nintendo a bad rap.
Xenoblade caters to the lascivious male gaze; F-Zero is a blatant male power fantasy.

… but Nintendo understands that waifus sell, so the choice is easy.

(BTW, the gaming market at large barely ever gave a fuck about F-Zero. The series sold its best, whoch means half of its total sales, with the first game, when there was quite literally nothing else to play if you were an early SNES adopter. X and GX went largely unnoticed in an age when console racing games were arguably at their peak. Let it go.)

Fire Emblem Echoes is great. Fire Emblem: My Sister's Persona Can't Possibly Be This Cute is not as good.
FE3H would be better regarded if it didn't look like absolute trash in game.

My gosh, imagine how much better it'd have been received if it was as glossy looking as Xenoblade 3 in terms of character rendering and menus?

The tea times and other monastery ish wouldn't be so tedious if it wasn't clearly a KT game.

Nintendo needs to involve MonolithSoft in some way for the next one because it needs gloss, very badly.

Why does this jrpg keep getting releases?

How about Fzero?

These guys drive me nuts.

It's simply because Xenoblade is one of the best video game franchises in the history of gaming and I hope this answers your question and people like you. Why would they stop focusing on Xenoblade when its becoming on par (as far as going down in history) with Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. To be such as young franchise Xenoblade is neck-and-neck with those two Series in the heart and minds of video Gamers all around the world. From what I hear it is gaining strong traction in China right now and when it releases it will probably break all sales records in China. That right there should tell you something. F-zero will never be able to hold a candle to the Xenoblade Series so why would Nintendo focus on other smaller franchises instead of Xenoblade? It would make no sense.

Here's a competition for FF:

Switch needs Xenoblade, but Xenoblade deserves so much better than the switch :(
Monolith was with Square, they didn't support Monolith. Monolith was with Namco, they didn't support them. Only Nintendo support Monolith. When developing Xenoblade 1, Takahashi was sure they can't make the deadline so he was ready to cut some content. But Nintendo responded with "take your time, make it the best"

Yup. Kiseki Nut discusses in his video about Monolith Soft:
