All the memes and negativity aside, I cannot wait to wreck all those 10 year old noobs on MKW. That and finally play both Zeldas at 60fps.

where do you live? Here in Los Angeles you can buy it from a scalper for $650-700 depending on whether it's the bundle

After tax you're looking at less than $200 profit

I ended up canceling a second pre order because it didn't even seem worth the hassle and I'd rather someone else have a chance to buy it

Edit: mine was $552 with tax so I'd make $148 if I did local pick up and even less if I had to ship

Central Florida. Was thinking more on the lines of waiting to see how things unfold after release and if it's not as crazy as I think it will be it doesn't hurt to have two in a house of 5 gamers.

You DO remember what the PS5 and Series launches were like, right?
Not just those either, keep going back and nearly every launch should be considered bad. The ps3 launch was abysmal.
Switch 2 launching with mario kart world is far beyond anything the others launched with, except maybe Halo combat evolved.

Not long now! I sold my Switch 1 last week, so all good to go.
Been at least 6 months since I played TOTK, looking forward to resuming that and finally finishing it

Shall i play BOTW or can i go straight to TOTK since they're (mostly) the same thing?

PS : these Nintendo game prices man...i want to get all the stuff that I missed like Bayonetta 2 and 3, Astral chain, Hyrule age of calamity etc but...they go for 60€ new or 40-45 used, lmao, welcome to Nintendo i guess...
Only Mario Odyssey can be found for cheap-ish (30-35 used).

I wouldn't skip BotW, but I also wouldn't play them back to back. BotW has some quirks, but it's certainly worth experiencing.

Thanks Zann.
Mario Odyssey worth it btw ?

I think I'm gonna grab a Zelda, Mario Odyssey and a couple of indies (Slave zero x, Blasphemous 2 etc) for the portability alone.

I thought of getting the Pro controller but that's another 90 and I'll first try and see if this switch "experience" is for me not, if I jive with it, I'll grab the Pro and a couple of other games.
Talking about games...man, the art in Astral chain looks amazing, shame then that the framerate is shit with constant dips to the mid and lower 20's, what I wouldn't give for a switch 2 patch (same with hyrule warriors).

Thanks Zann.

Is a master piece if you like 3D platforms games.

It really depends on your tastes.

I LOVED Odyssey, but I'm also a sucker for good traversal mechanics and (non-insane) collectathons. I had a great time getting all the moons, but for some on here the game was too easy and there were too many moons.

I'd say go for it, but I have no idea whether you like 3D Mario or not. For what it's worth, I see it as the midpoint between Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy, if that helps at all. Regardless, it'll be available throughout the Switch 2's lifespan, and it's already old enough to go on sale semi-regularly. If you're not sure, it can't hurt to wait and see.

EDIT: And 100% agree on Astral Chain. Here's hoping for a patch.

Wait until you see the day 1 sales of the console to make your conclusion 😉

(And the MKW sales)
What do I care about first day sales? I don't get a cut from Nintendo for each unit sold?

My dude is actually trying to cite sales numbers as if it's relevant to discussion. If the switch 2 released with no Mario or donkey kong, it'd still sell out. Everyone has been waiting for Switch 2 for a long time.

The GameCube and Monkey Ball is up there.

But you are saying that the launch games are bad… They don't suppose to sell well then. Bad for you=/=Bad for everybody.

Anyone lucky enough to get a 1TB microSD Express card? Best I could find was 512GB.

I kinda expect them to go down in price a bit, so I'm gonna try to get by without one for the launch. I will need one eventually, and will try to go for the 1TB when that happens, which yeah seems rare right now. Lexar just released the first one last month.

If you want something to hold you over, Walmart has a 512GB option for only $65 (their onn brand). I'm honestly halfways tempted to just get this and call it a day.

My 6 year old has saved £200 towards his. The MK World bundle is ordered through Amazon, it will be his Christmas present.

I would be buying one day one, but I can't buy one and own it before him when he has saved so well and is so excited.

If you love video games, support Nintendo. It can't be clearer than that. MK World and Bananza look like2 phenomenal games.

Everyone who gets one next week, enjoy!

Has he been out cleaning chimneys?

I beat BOTW and TOTK 100% and I think BOTW is a much more cohesive and grounded experience. TOTK is definitely worth a playthrough, but I'd recommend a good long break after finishing BOTW.

Releasing a new console with only 1 new first party game at launch is bad. End of story.
It's not..... and I don't remember any Nintendo launch with lots of first party Nintendo releases. There is always one main game.

I'll offer a contrary view and say that I played 100+ hours of both games on launch, with no replays of BOTW in between, and I'd say that TOTK makes BOTW feel like a beta.

TOTK is the perfect Zelda game, and retrospectively makes BOTW a 9/10 by default.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I felt fatigue with the visual representation of BOTW's shrines and 'dungeons'. TOTK, no such issue and that was massive for me.

I agree. In my first playthrough I spend 80 hours in original BotW while spend 200+ hours in TotK in my very first playthrough.

The Traversal in TotK was super fun for me, I was addicted to travel every in that game.

I dont think I can go back playing BotW after playing TotK.

For those that have not played it, it will obviously be the definitive experience and be amazing.
I played both Zeldas but can't stand 30 fps for too long, I mean, the games are great but can't pass too long after beating last boss, same for Xenoblade 3 and Kirby ATFL, really the Switch 1 upgrades are the most appealing features for me, until next big game I care about (yeah, MKW and DKB aren't making it for me so far)

It's not..... and I don't remember any Nintendo launch with lots of first party Nintendo releases. There is always one amin game.
The DS, one of nintendo's biggest systems, launched with just SM64DS as its flagship firsty party title.

I think the S2 will be fine launching alongside one of the biggest series they own.

My hands felt fatigue from all of TOTK's puzzles involving gluing stuff together with finicky gamepad controls and staring at menus.

The Switch 2 Edition could really benefit by instant toggle mouse mode like Metroid for all that shit.

IMO, this alone means that it isn't the perfect Zelda game, even if it's a very good something else game. The perfect Zelda would have an overworld inspired by Zelda 1 (like BOTW/TOTK) but also reward exploration like Zelda 1 with things to find like entrances to dungeons with deep gameplay depth. So litter that giant world with OOT/TP/Skyward Sword grade dungeons and we have the basic framework to be in the running of best Zelda.

I posted this in the pre-order thread but I got my "Check your information because we'll be processing your pre-order soon" email from Best Buy today.

I got the Console and pro-controller package from them and I'm assuming that they will be shipping the console for delivery on the 5th.

The only launch title I'm interested in is Bravely Default and I'll get that digitally once the Switch 2 arrives.

I was the exact opposite — felt that BOTW was nearly perfect (save for the destructible weapons). In TOTK I was so bored by having to construct tools/devices that it took me out of the brand of Zelda adventuring that I enjoy. Didn't bother to finish the game.

Are you all buying screen protectors? I'm not familiar with what kind of material the screen is made out of

My switch 1 had it but idk if it was even necessary

Definitely. It's a must-have. I usually go for amFilm tempered glass, but anything is better than nothing.

I ordered this for mine for $9...

and these for my boys' units for $5.40...

Never tried this type with the pre-mounted protector. Usually I go for the type with the alignment frame.

Thanks dude just ordered from the top link you shared

I really like that it has something that helps you align it because that's always such a pain in the ass

I've used amFilm for years for 2DSXL, Switch Lite, OLED, and Steam Deck. They have great clarity and maintain solid touchscreen response.

This will be my first time using the premounted kind. Should work the same. I always have the other kind in case I botch 2 attempts.😅

But yeah, amFilm has been awesome for us.

I dont take my Switch outside my house so I dont I'm gonna need screen protector.
I do it no matter what. Lots of weird scenarios you could pick up a scratch or nick(cats, falling asleep and dropping it, cases with accessories). But yeah, I take my system on the road in cases all the time. If you have kids using it there's no question it should have it.

Does it matter which brand? It seems like there are 1 million options on Amazon.

Man, just get the cheapest one, in the end, it's mostly as to not fook up the screen by having it touch the dock (remember the switch 1 ? fun times) and general, day to day micro-scratches.

As an example, on both my OP Nord and Galaxy S24Ultra I've always used normal, cheap tempered glass screen protectors and all of them did their job when they had to (never cracked my phones' screens in all these years), those 30-50-70 Eurodollars screen protectors are a scam.
Now, some of them (those that cost just a little bit more) are usually better since they cover the screen better/fully compared to the cheaper ones where there's usually some gaps and leave then screen unprotected by a couple of millimeters on all sides.

ESR makes good and cheap products and iVoler too.

Tempered glass is the cheapest, safest and better investment that one can do when it comes to...everything that has a screen basically 😉

Yep. I went with iVoler for my son's regular Switch. They can use them on their Switch 2s.

Anything with decent ratings on the Switch 1 versions will be fine.

BOTW and TOTK offer very different experience imo, the fact that TOTK gives you more tools to traverse is what makes traversing way less of an experience compared to BOTW, and that was basically BOTW cream

Who in the fuck cares? It fucking box you either gonna put away or throw it out.

This pettiest shit to complain about.

😆 yeah that shit just goes in a cupboard or under the bed who gives a shit....

When these become available again to buy I hope the Xeno games get the 60 fps boost.

The moment it happens I'll buy one if possible.

Launch titles are solid IMO. Mario kart and 60fps ToTK would've been my go to for starters.

Still sad I may miss out on Metroid prime 4 at launch though. That's THE title I want to play.

I am very surprised and a little disappointed that MonolithSoft haven't announced patches or upgrades of any kind for the Xeno series, Especially X.

That's cool he's gonna be one super happy kid at Xmas!!! I love reading stuff like this 😃 I assume you'll be both getting one same time??? MK lad and dad Xmas day!!

Well said sir.

On a side note, your kid saved £200 and hes only 6 ? You sure hes not selling drugs or some shit??

Well done to him 👍
