Trouble is he didnt write that, did he? Hopefully this isnt a sign of things to come. :lol

RTD wrote everything up to "I don't want to go."

Although it's not like he wrote [insert choir piece here] either. :lol

You really should kind of stay off the internet while this season is on the run.
That's seriously the only spoiler I wanted to avoid. What are the odds it'd rock up in my Facebook newsfeed?

BBC has released publicity shots of episode 3. None of them are spoilery if you know what the episode is about, which you would if you've seen any of the trailers, but I won't directly post them just incase:

Man that seems old school. Like the old series'
Dalek
episodes.

Although I'm a few weeks late on this, it's cool, so I'm going to share.

The music for the vortex 3d advert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi0H6riERFE - sadly although it was made for the advert, it wasn't Murray so it's not like, gonna have tracks like that in the new series cos I liked it and all that. Mature response. Anyhoo, sharing the track.

Mine too. Pertwee is all kinds of bad ass. I hope they go back to having an older actor as the Doctor some day.

I believe they said in the confidential where Smith was introduced that Moffat was originally dead-set on having an older Doctor, until Matt Smith walked in the room and blew him away.

Torchwood: Children of Earth was fucking phenomenal. I'm tempted to argue that it's better than any story from New Doctor Who short of maybe Girl in the Fireplace. RTD is inarguably one of the worst writers of New Who and was one of the reasons that Torchwood proper sucked balls -- how in the hell did he manage to come up with something so utterly riveting?

Apparently they'd like to continue Torchwood in the mini-series format and that seems like a great idea, but I fail to see how they could come up with anything to match Children of Earth.

Was re-watching Rose the other day, and it seemed that Eccleston's Doctor recently regenerated. So would that make McGann's Doctor the one that destroyed Gallifrey and the Time Lords?

I always figured that delta wave thing (or whatever the name of it was) that Nine used at the end of S1 was supposed to be what he used to kill everyone at the end of the Time War. Just like it would have killed Nine then in "Parting of the Ways," I imagine it did kill Eight at the end of the war, and he regenerated into Nine right after.

I remember (at the beginning of End of Time Part 2) that during the "cabinet meeting" the Doctor is mentioned as having The Moment "and will use it to destroy Daleks & Time Lords alike". Maybe the delta wave & The Moment used similar technology? idk, I just really wish they'd do a Time War season/cartoon/radio series

I'm watching the Doctor Who movie right now - seems to be Doctor Who of all varieties on today. I thought it was supposed to be alright, but it's terrible. The Master is more like the terminator. There's no wit whatsoever. And apparently the Doctor is half-human, English and was Ghengis Khan. Interesting.

The legitimacy of the movie is weird- the eight doctor totally happened, but technically the only thing we know he did for sure is end the Time War. :lol Nice to have that huge void though, makes the already huge potential for extra Doctor Who stories infinite.

And why are the daleks putting the master on trial? And they let the doctor just walk in there and take him?

Yeah slightly wooly thinking. It's a shame the script is so shit, as the production is handsome and beautiful. And why would the Daleks put anyone on trial? Can you imagine he Daleks acquitting anyone. "WEE HAVVEE A 100% CONNVVICCTIOONN RATTTTTTTTTTTE!"

Absolutely bugger all time travel but it has The Doctor doing motorcycle stunts. Hmm.

Nearly over now. McGann's not bad. Awful film though. Too 90s for its own good.

Yeah, it's best if you don't think too hard about the TV movie. This is true for a lot of Doctor Who. The length of it's run and it's ever-changing cast and crew and it's basic premise tend toward continuity nightmares.

That said, it is my favoritest show evar, and I am SO glad it's starting again tomorrow!

Then again, Retarded Lie Day. I'm reporting what I find at Gallifrey Base.

I don't think it's an April Fools thing, that was announced a little while ago iirc.

Yeah that was a good storyline for the show.

The movie is pretty much exactly halfway between the old show and the new in every way. The Master is pretty much exactly like he is in all old serials (pompous, powerful, wears lots of flare, can hypnotize people, etc.), the 'trial' setup is a common motif in the old show. But the doctor is very much new-who. Complete with a relationship thing going on with his 'companion' and the production quality is mostly quite good.

The Daleks also put Davros on trial in the old show, btw, so it's not something that came exclusively out of the movie.

Still weird though. Imagine the discussions:

"So, should we exterminate him? Or should we exterminate him?"
"Personally, I think we should exterminate him."
"AGREEMENT"

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
Does every episode of Dr Who need to be about saving the world? I didn't watch it much after Ecclestone left, but it seems like so many of the shows involve the entire Earth being under threat. The show seems to heading down the 24 path, amping things up constantly. I'll be watching this new episode, I like the look of the new Doctor, but are things going to get a bit more grounded as the series go on, or will it pick up from where Russel T Davies left it in terms of scope?

I have no idea what direction Moffat will take Who (I am not reading the big "lets ruin the whole story arc" spoilers), but Moffat's previous stories (Who and non-Who) are much more interesting personal stories than anything from RTD's.

He's good at moving from the "OMG eveything is blowing up" down down two characters having a personal moment together

His highest stakes Who episode has been The Empty Child.

But still, can you imagine if Moffat broke Dr Who? I've seen people on Facebook talking about how the new stuff is shit. They're just afraid of change, I guess.

So hyped up I've started pressing the make noise button on my USB Tardis to kill time. Damn being Australian and having no ability to watch it live. We supported Who dammit! We helped fund it once! Tom Baker & Lalla Ward sold us computers! Braveheart Teagan!

Let me watch you!

The pattern I've seen, and I've seen the same people follow it.

- David Tennant sucks
- David Tennant is great
- Many of these episodes are a bit bland
- Stuff like Blink and Girl in the Fireplace are my favourite

Which should lead to either not having made your mind up about the new Doctor or new series yet because, you know, you haven't seen one episode at all yet. Oh, the guy who wrote your favourite episodes is the new lead writer now, so that should make you pretty hyped overall, though without that knowledge, still optimistic and looking forward to it.

But, what I've found is massive xenophobia. Oh no, the change! Tennant is the only actor in the world who can play the Doctor! I know I got it wrong last time, but this time I'm right that Matt Smith sucks, I'm so confident I don't even have to watch an episode to be sure. And I guess that means everything else about it sucks too by extension.

By the same logic, series 2 should have been piss poor.

Coupling was poor man's Friends, Game On was a better and earlier take on the concept.

The original Queer as Folk was RTD's best work, easily surpassing anything he's done with Doctor Who.

Basically, people are stupid. I mean, they like Britain's Got Talent.
