Played two pub games with an ally Zarya that practically carried our team and got POTG both times. For the third game, the teams got shuffled and the Zarya was on the other team; my team won and I got POTG. Felt pretty good.

I had the best game of Overwatch of my life (as D.va) last night, and now I'm afraid to go back. I want every match to be as glorious as that one was, with last minute, game-changing ults (by me!). Felt too gooood--even got kudos for it.
Ok. So I see many comments about going up against premade groups. Maybe I'm not noticing something, but in PC is there a way to determine who is in a group and who isn't?

Not unless you're in it.

I think matchmaking tries to make it group vs. group, so ideally you'll have an equal number of grouped members on both sides.

At least one of them will!

Then I'm out a barrier and I'll surely drop quickly after!

Ulting just the tire seems like a waste unless you caught other people in it too.

It was an escort mission with most of our team pretty close to the payload. The tire was coming around a corner. I was the first to see it. The well pulled it away from us actually. Might not have been an ideal use, but I know at least 3-4 of us would've been killed by it.

It's getting to the point where I just want to quit out every time I'm in a public game attacking. I'd say I win 1 out of 10. It's the same every time. A Bastion, Symmetra, and Toblerone(s). With a proper team it's easy but for randoms it's basically a guaranteed loss. Turrets need nerfing hard.

No kidding.

Must've been stomped 9 times in 10 games tonight. Shit fucking sucks. I play tank and support, do my best on objective but I seem to get the absolute worst team mates.

I don't know why I care about winrate, but it's so demoralising losing endlessly.

Doesn't help my teammates survive.

You can barrier yourself and one other? That would make Junkrat pause and give your team a chance to either kill the tire or spread out to minimize losses. If it's a good Junkrat you probably won't even see the tire before it's on you though. Zarya's beam is also really handy at killing it if you're charged somewhat.

Best Feeling: Hearing the Rip-Tire coming with Pharah and launching up to scope it out and blast it from the air before it hits your team.

Worst Feeling: Landing on the ground after just coming down from a boost... and then hearing "Fire in the hole!" Soooo many times...

Anyone here playing on a 21:9 monitor? I just got one, and while I want this game I really don't want to deal with black bars if they're distracting.

Having a lot of fun playing Zarya...so much so that I haven't really touched anyone else.

Only encountered one jerk in voicechat on PS4 so far...saying "nobody should even pick that lesbian chick" and spending two matches insulting the same guy's Reinhardt and then his Junkrat.

The beam is only 15m range. I think the the tire explosion would kill me if it got me. The barriers only last 2sec with a 12(self)/8(team) sec cooldown. I don't think they were off cooldown.

I swear freezing Genji is impossible even when his dash is down. The constant double jumping means he's breaking the freeze a bit here and there, if he wasn't chasing my Mercy I would have just given up and let someone else deal with it.

Don't play a sniper just because Overwatch wiki says it works against turrets, it's a very situational counter where you have to be outside of turret's range. It won't work if you can't find a LoS long enough to be outside of turret's range and certainly not when you are one sniper going up against 3 Torbjorn while a Winston and Genji is on your ass hard countering you all the time.
Stand behind the Reinhardt.

If it's any consolation, the Genji is furious and cursing you the entire time.

i might change my jump binding for Genji to do that. he is near impossible to hit when jumping. i was with a group who couldn't kill a jumping Genji no matter what.

Shame, thanks for the heads-up.

While 21:9 would be super nice and I have no idea why Blizzard refuses to put it in, the bars aren't too bad in this game I feel as you're generally really focused compared to single player games.

After each mini update there has been, I always get stuck in the loading screen and then kicked due to inactivity. Doesn't go away for a few games and I have to mess with random video settings to break free of it. Hope it doesn't penalise me as far as quitting early goes.

There is a system in the Quick Play so that you play with players of a similar skill level. If you've just started playing this would be pretty inconsistent until you've played some more matches and it has a better idea of your skill level.

Its been pretty consistent for me in the past. Today and yesterday I have had a lot of server disconnects where it says it closed as well as streaks. Not sure why. I wonder if I keep getting put with groups that have extra spaces

My team and I were torn apart from a team of Junkrats and a Zenyatta just now. We were doing fine against the opposing team, but out of desperation, they all just decided to go for broke and play as the psychotic demolition expert and promptly fired his alt simultaneously (while the Zenyatta player was able to boost their health) to keep us out from the last choke point.

That was a load of bullshit, if you ask me.

If you were to rush it, barrier and try to take it down I guarantee Junkrat will try to burn it on you at least 9/10 times. People use his ult incorrectly all of the time. (That will also probably have him panicking about losing his tire, pressuring him to use it there or withdraw.)

I hope so, I'd hate to be the only one being frustrated!

Yeah, I've gotten a lot better at aiming with Mei's alt fire but with Genji it is impossible, there's no way to know which trajectory he's going if he double jumps fast or delays it askdjgksajdg.

Pure frustration on my part, still not as annoying as McCree. I know even once he's nerfed I'm still doomed to hear "Woah there!" and die.

Stand behind the Reinhardt.

I am amazed at the number of people who don't seem to understand that this is Reinhardt's function. I play as him a lot, and half the time no one will come stand behind my shield. Taking turrets is easy if you actually use your Reinhardt. You'll probably find him standing in front of the turret, wishing someone would come along and shoot some of the people focusing on him. But no, keep flanking and getting killed by those turrets.

Yeah, it was a gamble I didn't want to take (not even sure I could). All I know is our team survived and we won the match.

You can't trust a Reinhardt you can't talk to. I've been conditioned not to trust them thinking they're laying down cover for some sweet pew pews only to have him drop the shield and let us all die.

a lot of dudes don't seem to know they can shoot through his shields too. so while he's blocking dem turrets, SHOOT THE FUCKING TURRETS to save his shield.

It's super frustrating when people don't hide behind you when 1,000 damage is about to hit them right in the face. Reinhardt can block High Noon, I've Got You in My Sights, Nerf This and Whole Hog for at least a little bit.

Reinhardt is so average when teams don't use him right but he's so insanely strong when they work with him. I hate playing him for the most part because people tend to ignore the "Group on me!" command when I'm trying to push but yeah, more people need to understand his playstyle.

Yeah, it was a gamble I didn't want to take (not even sure I could). All I know is our team survived and we won the match.

All worked out, then! I think the best way to set it up would be to charge and start firing, then barrier at the last second. Super risky, but you would make that Junkrat scream if you pulled it off. At the very least, you potentially save five other teammates.

If I'm playing Rein on payload I make sure to tell everyone to stay behind my shield and we generally win the game in under two minutes. That or Assault. Won a game on Anubis with a Rein/Lucio combo in 1:57. Rushed past the enemies and stood on points. Didn't really fight at all.

i'm honestly not sure if most people know they can shoot through the friendly rein shield

Shit happens sometimes. That doesn't mean avoid using him. Just use him sensibly. If my shield's about to break, you shouldn't be behind it. If I see an opportunity to take out a big player, you should already have some idea of where you need to go once the shield drops.

It's not about trust so much as it is about sensibly using the cover that exists. Reinhardt is walking cover you can fire through. Any team not using him is just hurting themselves.

I've been let down too many times by too many Reinhardt's to trust his shield. You settle in to push the point then without warning: Team Reinhardt blasting off agaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain. Alone and defenceless.

Actually got far on the first point at anubis because I had some smart teammates, I chose Reinhardt and guided them through the choke point of hell, stopped, let them destroy traps and turrets as I protected them, slowly walked up the side area and I think after doing that we managed to take over the capture point.

Speaking of, the visual indicator on Reinhardt's shield strength is such a good design decision.
Nah I've fought against prestiged people who didn't know how Winston's shield worked

No! I refuse to believe you.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I wonder if this is caused by people not using the heroes or something. Like, I'm not an expert with most heroes, but I at least know their baseline abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Dunno how someone could go out of their way to avoid using them for so long.

I specifically pick him when we've got a zenyatta, soldier 76, hanzo etc.

then they all run off and play TDM in a corner of the map

Which, incidentally, is another way to get safe sniper shots on entrenched turrets.

I'm not sure the Winston shield is actually explained anywhere. It wasn't exactly intuitive, especially to me coming from Halo's bubble shield.

As always, you don't necessarily have to be good to level up. You just have to play a lot. It's not like Hearthstone where your level actually dictates you beating other players to get to where you are.
