I only drink the whole damn thing if Obama says something that gets both the Joint Chiefs and the Supreme Court justices to give a standing ovation.

Because of that stupid tweet, I had to visit his Twitter page. His banner picture is his family with the guy from Duck Dynasty.

I don't know why I expected anything less.

The Governor of a state that receives $3 of federal tax money for every dollar it puts in is complaining about "free stuff".

Ok.

PoliGAF vote!

Which was more ether?

"Governor we also have fewer horses and bayonets."

vs

"I know because I won both of them."

I vote the latter.

Just as it was with Bill Clinton, Obama's ultimate sin in the eyes of the GOP is that he had the unmitigated gall to defeat them. "Fake America" stole their White House, and he is the living embodiment of that sentiment.

Sippy Cupp is on CNN and she's so damn salty

I’m really tired of this already, 26 minutes into it.

He keeps talking about the ‘middle class’ and ‘child care’.

When I grew up, ‘Child Care’ was a woman staying at home and raising her own kids - and the kids ‘got raised right’.

When they decided to call us all ‘human resources’, and the feminists decided that all women should go out to work (not to mention ‘subsidies’ for having kids out of wedlock), the family fell apart, and the family economics went downhill.

When I was young, a woman (usually) stayed home, took care of the kids and the house, and performed untold number of duties that kept the family in gear. The father went out to work, and after about 10 years, if they were prudent and thrifty, they had a down-payment on a little house.

(There were single mothers back then, as well; but it was NOT as hard as the feminists would tell you today, for a single mom to raise herself up in the world and make a good living! MANY did it.)

Nowadays, the kids run rampant in day-care, with no real social or moral training, because the caretakers have too many kids to take care of, and most of them are in it for money, not for love. The mothers - who Would be in it for love- are forced to go to work; and the family has fallen apart.

Sorry if I haven’t expressed this as well as I might do; but we have destroyed ourselves with liberal policies that pay no attention to human realities.

I can’t tell you how many women I’ve known over the past few decades, who wanted desperately to stay home with their kids and take care of their homes, instead of going out and working a dumb job. Those women had to work outside the home, because of the economic realities that Feminism and Socialism basically created. BUT: Even wealthy, elite-class women that I’ve known, have despaired when their decision to stay home and take care of their children was met with derision from their peers.

This country largely deserves what is coming to it - all of the thoughtless, among all classes, deserve what is coming: a bunch of angry, maladjusted, totally materialistically-inclined kids, to carry on what used to be a great Nation.

I don’t wish it upon these parents; but they’ve wished it upon themselves.

Well, I’ve ranted; and he’s now over an hour into his rant.

I’m a woman, and I care about a lot of things, but especially about KIDS. So, this post is about my concerns regarding kids and families.

And I’m outta here.

hahahaha

Imma miss Diamond Joe when he's gone guys, gonna miss him so much.

Rather tonedeaf speech. Most Americans still think we're on the wrong track, most Americans aren't feeling an economic upturn, most Americans are concerned about ISIS/foreign policy (not that I agree with them)....so why the victory lap?

Ok.

There was a great line in The West Wing, during the first election. Something about if the Governor of Florida objects so harshly to "federal handouts," could they have the money back, please?

Its rather fitting that as Obama spit rhetoric to empty applause, the country was hit by one of the biggest scandals of all time.

I don't think this country can survive #ballghazi

Secession. Soon.

The handwringing over Obama's "petty" off script diss is hilarious. That was a Reagan-esque moment, the type of witty response republicans have long championed on their side.

Republicans set him up by applauding him on the "no more campaigns" line. The GOP has no one to blame but themselves.*

PoliGAF in a nutshell.

Democrats won the popular vote in the Confederacy in 1964. (And number of states 6-5.) Literally, months after the 1964 Civil Rights Act voted for the guy who pushed it to passage and then signed it.

Okay, so they supported five civil rights supporters from 1944-1960 because of government programs, but then when faced with one Civil Rights Act they voted for the guy who enacted it in the legacy of the last guy they voted for and then realized their mistake and decided to never vote for government programs again because the last guy pulled a fast one on 'em. Then in the next election gave a majority of their vote to two civil rights supporters over George Wallace.

Then they voted for government programs for the rest of history.

First Amendment protections a gimmick, the new "liberal" position.

OH! WELL, if Chuck Todd said it!

Civil Rights supporters in 1944? Please tell me which significant civil rights law was passed in the 1940's? What the hell am I reading. The south never voted for civil rights, detested brown v board of education and hated Eisenhower and JFK for using federal troops to integrate schools.

They elected George Wallace for governor who flip flopped from being a liberal to a "segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever" supporter because he had to go to the right of republicans to win that election.

Lol the confederacy. No one is talking about civil war era battle lines. You saw the difference in the 60 and 64 maps. The country overwhelmingly supported LBJ in 64, those 5 southern states flip flopped. Invalidating that by moving goalposts to 11 states is cheap parlor tricks because no one was talking about Florida or Texas.

The South has been staunchly anti-entitlement since the mid 60's. But in 1960 JFK and Nixon debated in JFK won the south despite being a northern educated elite who advocated for poor assistance entitlements.

After 64 the only democrats to make inroads at the national level in those states were southerners like Jimmy Carter, Clinton and Gore. And that's because of name recognition And familiarity more than anything else.

It's why local democrats kept winning elections in the south, because they could convince folks they weren't liberal and were centrist. It's why they win elections to this very day in the south.

The deep South's national voting record for 150 years is first and foremost factored around race.

Re: Citizens United - The liberal position has always been that the rich shouldn't have enormous affects on our political process because the liberal position has always been about spreading power out.

I can't think of a liberal that thinks 2 brothers and one casino mogul deciding who can and can't be competitive in a republican primary is a good thing. I also can't think of a liberal who thinks money = speech, politics is better with shadow donors and weakly regulated super PAC's, corporations are people, or democracy is improved when fundraising barriers to entry are exponentially increased.

CU was a response to Obama's insanely effective fundraising machine. Understanding that they needed better fundraising to be effective and that one 500 million dollar check would be easier than getting 25 bucks from 20 million people, they went around getting that done. It's a gimmick because a liberal Supreme Court would never allow it, and as soon as the balance of power shifts by one justice, that shit is getting reversed.

You're right, the speech should have been one big long apology for years of mis-management, before Obama proceeding to sit in the corner in time-out to think about all the bad things he's done.
