I'm still amazed at how clean Obama was after going through Chicago politics. It takes a lot of effort to keep your record spotless in that city. You gotta be the most ethical motherfucker to ever run for office there.
"Dude, show up to work," Christie said, "show up to work and vote no. And if you don't like it, quit!"
Christie added, "He gives a good speech, Marco, and I want to hear his stirring speech that's going to try to persuade people on the floor of the Senate not to vote for this awful spending bill."
Speaking to reporters after his town hall in Clinton, IA, Rubio responded to Christie, pointing to his record as New Jersey governor and suggesting that Christie was "a little desperate" in his attacks, as voting day nears in the early states.
"You know, Chris has been missing in New Jersey for half the time, but candidates, I think as we get down the stretch here, some of them get a little desperate and a little nasty in their attacks" Rubio said, adding, "That's fine. We're going to continue to campaign on what I'm going to do when I'm president."
My mother wants Trump to be President. Ugh. What do I do guys / gals? I have long given up talking about anything in an educated manner with my mother.
Alright, Kasich's turn.
I met a Trump supporter in the wild!
I had to run to the store for cat food and vodka (I live that kind of life atm) and this guy asked me why I was wearing a shirt with Hillary Clinton on it. Daniel, at this point I should let you know, all of my clothes have pictures of oligarchs on them. It's kinda my thing.
Anyway, he was kinda cute, so I thought why the hell not, I'll talk to him. Dude is a die hard Trump supporter. Went off on how saddened he was to see other members of the white race support the woman who supports the "Negro Muslim" in the White House. How, as a man, he could never see why another man would give power to a woman. Dude was hard core. He kept talking about walls and the Chinese, and how China and Mexico want to help bring more Muslims intot he US so they can steal our jobs. That way, when they kill us all (his words not mine) they can easily swoop up the jobs and what will the white people do? I guess those of us that aren't dead...at any rate. Dude wasn't old either. Maybe 35. I bought my two bottles of vodka and got the hell out.
Okay, three bottles and a 6 pack of Jack Daniels Black Jack Cola.
Where do you live, that people would say such things to strangers?
Living in Chicago I am in the Liberal Bubble, but it still surprises me when people say such offensive things to just anybody.
Ohio has a little bit of everybody in that state. It's the quintessential swing state for a reason.
Edit: I swear I thought you mentioned us working hard to elect Hillary.
Kasich's idea is to reduce the number of safe seats, thereby making more of the seats contestable in a general election -- and thereby moving the political debate back toward the center (where, not coincidentally, he feels more comfortable). If adopted nationally, where most general election contests are won by 10 points or more, the net effect might be to shift the political debate from the extremes back toward positions of more inter-party compromise.

ANALYSIS: GOP efforts to draw a more diverse voter base have failed.
Uh oh.
"We need messengers to really capture that region - young, Hispanic, black, a cross section ... We want to convey that the modern-day GOP looks like the conservative party that stands on principles. But we want to apply them to urban-surburban hip-hop settings."
Establishment/moderate Republicans should support gerrymandering reform. Not only have Democrats been affected by it, but so have several GOP candidates who got primary'd in their own district.

A shitty part of Ohio.
I mean, it's all shitty, it's Ohio, but an area in which there are quite a few rednecks. I did have my Yaaaassss Hillary shirt on, so I'm not entirely shocked. Plus, I was in the liquor store, and the dude smelled like three bottles of Jack and regret.
My favorite was when this contractor I had remodeling our bathroom back in early 2008 said that he didn't think Hillary should be elected because, and I quote, "I don't think God wants a woman to be President. That Sarah Palin though, she's got a good head on her shoulders."
Ohio, man.
And plz don't drink yourself to death. We need you.
Naw, I won't drink myself to death. It's just for the bowl games tomorrow. So I can weep for what should have been.... : sigh :
Conservatives are terrified of women that aren't more conservative than they are. It's such an interesting phenomenon.
Fuck Kasich in the eye socket, but that's good to hear. Hopefully our redistricting will improve soon.
At least you aren't in the Ohio Valley?
That would be the heart of redneck country.
My mother wants Trump to be President. Ugh. What do I do guys / gals? I have long given up talking about anything in an educated manner with my mother.
Not there, thank goodness. It's not the armpit of Ohio, but it's...it's close. I used to live in Polk County Florida which was, and may still be, the incest capital of the US.
So...you know. I'm moving up!

I of course endorse that cartoon [post=190769921]posted[/post] by Retromelon, with that "" sign, lol .
It's just laughable to me now, when someone says Bernie isn't attracting voters from certain demographics, and to emphasise the point, from the standpoint of women, of all ages, who will undoubtedly get out and vote for him, too, check out this fabulous Bernie introduction (almost had me blubbing again), by RoseAnn DeMoro, the Exec. Dir. of the National Nurses United union, who endorsed Bernie for President:
I would be very surprised if Adam were able to post a recent video, for Hillary, that demonstrated anything like the genuine passion exhibited by the speaker and the audience, for her Presidential run, and if Bernie doesn't win the nomination, and this re-discovered passion for American politics, all but evaporates, I would not be overly optimistic for America's future, going forward...
Yeah, show your mother some respect, you ungrateful son-of a-bitch!What you do is show a little more respect towards your mother.
An interesting narrative is taking shape: the Right's Last Hope (Cruz) against the institutional Left (Clinton). My uncles are shocked that I'm voting for Trump in the primary. (they're Cruz folks)
But one of them figured it out. He sees the writing on the wall, and says that if Hillary wins, "it's game over for conservatives." I reassured him that, nope, they'll continue to do well at state level - they'll just have gutter bumpers in the form of a liberal judiciary to keep them in check.
And plz don't drink yourself to death. We need you.

Now that Adam's snagged that new job, hopefully he'll have a good reason to enjoy "his poison" in moderation . I enjoy a drop of Merlot (Tisdale at $3.5 / bottle - lasts two weeks), whlle I'm doing the dishes, but am not adverse to getting sloshed, on special occasions (last time was when mens USA soccer team was doing well in the World Cup), when I'm not driving, of course (easy solution; don't own a car ).
I gotta ask. What state primary are you voting for Bernie in?

There's a bonus in Virginia too; to encourage voting, you can register at 17 and vote in the primaries (not in GE) .
Out of curiosity, how many of us Hillary supporters were Hillary supporters in 2008?
I was a fierce Obama loyalist back then and I suppose I still am.

Die hard Hillary 2008 fan here.
Volunteered up until she dropped out...even when I knew it was hopeless. Only warmed to Obama after Hillary bitch slapped me at the DNC. (Although I was always going to vote for him, I wasn't interested in volunteering or anything). Had a wakeup call, got my life together and started doing what little I could.
Hell, I'm one of the people that made donations to help offset her campaign debt after the primary was over. They sent me something. It's in a box somewhere. I also met Secretary Clinton twice when she came through, once during the primary and once stumping for Obama.
I'd love to see some real polling data on this, but in my experience it's been an even split.I assume most of Obama 08 are Hillary 16.
Wow that's dedication. You would've hated me back then lol.Die hard Hillary 2008 fan here.

“Now, I could stand up here and say, ‘Let’s just get everybody together. Let’s get unified,'" Clinton said to laughter of the crowd.
"The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect,” she said dryly as the crowd erupted.
“Maybe I’ve just lived a little long, but I have no illusions about how hard this is going to be," Clinton continued. "You are not going to wave a magic wand to make special interests disappear."
with your personal story I can't see why you have not been contacted by the campaign for a promo or video for the primary or general. You should write to them.

I was Hillary 2008, but had zero problems lining-up enthusiastically for Obama. My absolute favorite moment of her campaign probably wasn't her best hour politically - it was when she got really sarcastic about idealism.
It rang true to me.. and it still does. But a lot of voters, bless their hearts, don't like snarky cynicism.
(Dean in 2004. Gore in 2000. Tsongas in 1992.)
Will be more will be a big sigh of relief. I am sure I will be nervous when polls close regardless what polling days that evening. I don't think it's possible for me to get emotionally invested to that degree ever again. That is a young mans game.I would have disliked most of you. You guys acted like bernie stans?
Cheebo you gonna cry when Hillary wins IA?

“He is one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency,” said Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans, an advocacy group for LGBT Republicans. Trump would do no harm on same-sex marriage, Angelo said, and has a “stand-out position” on non-discrimination legislation.
That’s not to say the real-estate mogul and former reality TV star trumps Democrats when it comes to issues of importance to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley are all vocal advocates for most of the priorities of the LGBT community. Nor does it mean gay and lesbian Republicans will ignore Trump’s treatment of other minority constituencies — or base their votes on LGBT issues.
But it does mean that Trump has an opening to draw support from gay Republicans in the primary, and that could matter in states where the LGBT community is particularly well organized. It also means he could get financial and political support from the Log Cabin Republicans and their allies in the general election. Whether or not he’s the favored Republican among gay and lesbian voters, Trump could be their ally if he makes it to the White House.
Pax Hart, a 45-year-old software engineer in New York, was a Rand Paul supporter and low-dollar donor until he saw video of Trump’s immigration speech in Phoenix, Arizona, this summer. Where some voters see xenophobia in Trump’s promise to build a wall between the United States and Mexico and his proposal to put a moratorium on Muslims traveling to the United States, Hart, who is gay, says he sees policies that would prevent dilution of LGBT rights in the country.
“We are importing people who are the absolute most hostile to gays and lesbians,” Hart said of discrimination against LGBT citizens in some Middle Eastern and Latin American countries. “We’re bringing in people who are indoctrinated that gays [should be] exterminated.”
