You know, literally the only real thing that would stop Hillary from winning against generic republican would be making a bad VP pick. Safe and boring all the way.

Actually a bummer. I want Bernie to keep her on her toes right till super tuesday. First debate did expose her vulnerability on wall street. We need more of that.
The take away from debate was how well she did (why she is getting a bump) so I don't think anyone really is remembering that part of the debate.

No, but the point is he is exposing her vulnerabilities which the GOP can exploit in the general unless she comes up with a response to those questions. She always had the possibility of getting coakleyed because of the relatively weak candidates.

I can't see the GOP attacking her on Wall Street though, to then she is not connected enough.

So.. what happens if Hillary walks in to the committee next week, and for her first statement she says the equivalent of, "This is a politically-driven bullshit investigation, we all know it's a bullshit investigation, you've admitted it on several fronts, you've investigated multiple times previously, and therefore.."

(and in my scenario, yes, she does bring a piece of paper with the word "FiF" written on it)

I would die laughing.

One, two, three, four, FIF

Right, but again, which parts of it do you think will help facilitate trade? Free trade is a catchphrase. I'm trying to understand which policies and mechanisms it promotes that you will think will positively impact your desired markets, and, to an extent, yourself.
Lowered tariffs? Guarantees that markets won't favor domestic goods? Dispute mechanism so trade is predictable?

I mean the deal will likely lead to more trade. The question is who benefits?

She literally said "I represented Wall Street." Granted the following part was "as the senator from New York" but it was still such a puzzling thing to say out loud. Followed by her puzzling "I told them hey guys, cut it out" lol.

Does anything think Obama wouldn't have pounced on that? Sanders had little to say, barely took any direct shots at her, and overall just seemed passive. Folks should go back and watch those 2008 debates...that's how you take down a favored opponent.

Honestly Obama would have attacked her on the emails too. Not directly in terms of getting into the nitty gritty of the bullshit, but just a simple "you know, this is something the American people are tired of. The same politicians embroiled in the same media stories over and over while nothing gets done in Washington..."

It's not like PPP didn't include them. What was the crosstabs like?

Public Policy Polling interviewed 1,012 registered voters between October 8th and 11th, including
416 Democratic primary voters. The margin of error is for the overall survey is +/-3.1% and it’s
+/-4.8% for the Democrats. 80% of participants responded via the phone, while 20% of
respondents who did not have landlines conducted the survey over the internet.

eh? only 416 democrats out of 1012 registered voters? 80% answered by landline? There's a reason republicans are overperforming in this poll.

Bernie Sanders isn't Barack Obama and I don't know why anyone would compare anyone to him or is campaign. Anyway PD, we're past the hopeium and have moved onto pragmatism.

I actually had an exchange with Chuck Todd on twitter a week or two ago where he admitted that poll sampling (in that case, it was Quinnipiac) is looking a bit odd this season.

I have to give credit to Jeb for being able to keep that sentence going as long as reasonably possible to give him more time to remember. Eventually he ran out of ways he could extend the sentence and had to just guess.

But Sanders fans keep telling me he's doing better than Obama was at this point!

On a serious note yes, I agree that he's not Obama. Still, Sanders' approach to the debate should have mirrored Obama's and Edwards' in 2008. You have to knock the leader out. You don't have to go ugly but still, Hillary had plenty openings to get attacked on during this debate.

Sanders isn't stupid enough to think he's actually going to win this thing, it doesn't benefit him at all to damage the party. Obama knew he could win, he had the ground game, the strategy and the charisma to do it.

I've been listening to Bernie Sanders for years. I knew about him years before any Bernie stans on this board had a pubic hair growth on their body. He is not running to be president. He is a smart person and he knows that nothing is going to happen as long as Republicans are in any sort of power. His role in this entire movie is to be a messenger, and as far as he's concerned, he is bringing the message of inequality and banksters to the forefront loud and clear.

This was easily the worst moment for Hillary in the debate. It was beyond atrocious and I fully expect it to be wrapped up in an attack ad later on: "What was Hillary's plan to stop the financial crisis? She told them 'hey guys, cut it out'. How'd that work out for her? Vote for a real leader who can actually do things, etc".

I cannot even fathom what her point was supposed to be beyond portraying herself as completely out of touch and ineffectual. I have to assume that she was improvising because no one could prepare that statement and think "yes, this is something Hillary should say on national television".

EDIT
RE Bernie: I get that he's trying to be a messenger for socialism, but in my opinion he's a terrible salesmen. The debate was a perfect opportunity to sell it to the American people but his rhetoric was indistinguishable from the Occupy Wall Street crowd. We've heard that pitch before and it didn't work; I like what he's trying to do I just think he's doing a really bad job at it in the sense that it's only firing up people who are already engaged and agree with him.

At least when Mitt gaffed, there was someone on the other side thinking, "yeah, he's right!"

"47% pay no tax" vs. "work longer hours."

Mitt looked and acted like a leader. Is there anyone out there feeling inspired by Jeb?

I mean, usually candidates usually have their mothers on their side at least.

The worst part about that video isn't the simple fact that he forgot, it's the complete collapse of any pretense of authenticity. He already starts off sounding like he's exhausted and doesn't even want to talk and then he continues to get more and more exasperated before throwing up his hands. He sounds so insincere when saying "it was horrible", the impression it gave was akin to a unruly teenager, "It was horrible or whatever". Regardless of how he internally felt about it, he probably shouldn't bring up that kind of emotional anecdote when he's clearly too fatigued to put any effort into expressing how he feels. Saying it just to say it is worse than saying nothing at all.

Yup. What a disaster, I seriously didn't see Jeb flopping this bad.

it was obvious pretty early on, before the first debate even. His townhalls were anemic, and he was just a gaffe machine. The only reason he's not polling even worse than he actually is, is because the media has been focusing so hard on Trump that no one even notices when Jeb fucks up anymore.

His campaign is done at this point. There's no legitimate reason to vote for him that doesn't revolve around how much money his PAC has- and all of that was built up very early on.
