I want to see a highlight reel of the debate containing only the parts where the moderators and the candidates were trying to shout over each other. I suspect it would be a respectable portion of the debate time.

The debates are what make me happy that I'm a Democrat.

I would really hate being in a party where all the presidential candidates do is fucking whine about being asked questions.

Seriously. Hilldawg didn't complain during her 11 fucking hours of being grilled, interrupted, and harrassed and yet these scrubs can't take a few tough questions. What a joke of a party.

I agree. I cannot imagine watching that and thinking these are my choices for who should be President. These 11 (Or was it 10?) people on stage are terrifying. Absolutely terrifying.

That tactic is going to go down pretty badly in a GE debate. "Why is this dude whining so much? At least Hillary is answering the question."

Exactly.

I feel really bad for jeb!. Geeze he just got destroyed.

That's perhaps the only reason Rubio looks good to the establishment (he does better than Jeb in comparison - tough pill to swallow for Reps). Jeb is so damn bad at this. Gotta hand it to W. on the personality front. The "smart one" is a total failure.

The debates are what make me happy that I'm a Democrat.
Here's why. "Ideas" brought up by the candidates in this debate:

- Government is bad, HANDS OFF MY MEDICARE (raise the eligibility age)
- Abolish minimum wage
- Abolish IRS
- Freeze all regulations for a year (except the public safety ones)
- Return to gold standard
- "Simplify" the 75,000 page Federal tax law to 3 pages
- Abolish all government subsidies, including the ones that help farmers
- 10% flat tax
- No more gun-free zones

And Krispy has the balls to say these are smart ideas that are better than the ones brought up in democratic debates

Christie just plagiarised O'Malley's closing remarks hoping no one would notice and that when he did it they would make no sense in context.

Now that our fun is over, I'll get back to this for you ivy.
Interesting re: Sanders and Cruz. Any particular reason why? Sanders seems like he'd have the opposite political philosophy on the role of government than yours.
I mean, technically, they all have the opposite political philosophy of me.

Sanders isn't the opposite on everything, same as Cruz isn't. But under a hypothetical where I have to pick, then it's ordering priorities. After Rand, Sanders is the most likely candidate to reduce or slow the drug war and similar.

Most of the Republican candidates are roughly the same, but I find Cruz's downsides to be a lot more lawyer-debate bluster than hardcore ideals, he's slightly less war favorable than the others, he's pro-states rights on medical marijuana which is as good as you'll get probably, he's supported Rand's falsibusters on spying/drones even if he stole the idea for a worse usage.

I'm not particularly concerned about either party making major alterations on cultural issues so as to support Clinton before considering some of the Republicans. Especially the younger GOPers. Their social conservativeness often goes the "leave it to the states" route, which I consider to be really an out that their not serious on. Or, like Cruz, he actually calls for a constitutional amendment on things, which I think he knows is technically also an out since there's never going to be the support for it. I think this is part of why Rubio doesn't bother me too much on that front.

Also, personality does factor in for me probably more than it should. For example, Sanders can take a joke. Like he was asked about the SNL skit and he said he wanted the American people to know he owns multiple pairs of underwear. I've seen Cruz take them as well. Ron's better than his son in this regard, or well, used to be back when he'd go on things like Morton Downey Jr.. They've been a bit too scoldy the last few years.

Though Ron did have this in 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9n4nwxgaQg

You can hear the single tear falling from the eagle's eye.

I don't think Rubio did spectacularly well, but the writing on the wall heading in to the debate seemed to be "Jeb's friends are thinking of jumping ship" and with that in mind, the debate went exactly as Rubio would have wanted. Jeb was flat, Rubio got applause, and when they faced off, Rubio handled himself. If I were trying to buy a popular, establishment Republican, he's where I'd be looking.

I wouldn't mind seeing some "true conservatives" blast the candidates from the "right."

Hugh Hewitt was a waste of time.

Kick out Hannity though, too much of a ballwasher.

Limbaugh, Michael Savage (ne Weiner) and Coulter plz.

It does suck that Limbaugh never reached a deal with Fox News. We'd have so many more great quotes if he were to be around for moments like these.

He could have done a lot better if he pointed out he's setting the bar low by comparing himself to obama, but he clearly had a script planned out and he was not going to deviate from it.

The whole "let Jeb be Jeb" thing seemed like complete hogwash.

I'm sure Trump will complain about the number of debates and threaten to pull out unless they eliminate legitimate candidates.

You can't narrow the net much more without taking out "serious" candidates. Christie, Kasich, Paul and Huckabee are the next four cuts. All of them are within five points of Jeb!.

Narrowing the net like Hillary and Edwards wanted in 2008 would be unwarranted when every primary through March 1st will be proportional. Trump can sweep up 30% of the delegates and still have only less than 10% of what he needs to win.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Carson is going nowhere.

Added 6200 Twitter followers immediately after the debate, by far the most of any candidate. What a trainwreck that guy is yet people on the right love him.

LOL, Jeb is finished.

Also, Rubio bump incoming. I knew this was going to happen. Trump is finally not invincible 100% of the time and Rubio is doing everything right.

Carson is all hype, no shocker there.

Jeb just did an interview with Dana Bash on CNN and he kept up the line of attack on Rubio. I hope he batters Rubio as a parting gift before he drops.

Why? It will just make Jeb! look like a sore loser.

Trump is a moron and unelectable. Rubio is going to have his day and when he does the nomination will most likely be his.

Rubio's triumph out of this if from this he can convince the party establishment that Jeb! is always going to be damn awful as a candidate. Because he sucks at fundraising and needs Jeb's money. Which shouldn't be that hard now really.

Cruz victory from this is if he can convince evangelicals that Carson is as useless as a cardboard cutout and he can be their crazy guy. Which despite all the supporting evidence may be surprisingly difficult.

I'm frankly annoyed how much narrative about Unfair questioning is getting.

I'm sorry but with this deference payed to people to never insult them or ask them questions based on their statements is annoying. This isn't a campaign commericial.

Even my father said "cruz had a good point"

We need to do more of this instead of pretending that these outright lies are worth of listing to.

Bush was probably the most formal and conventional candidate at the podium tonight, barring perhaps Rand Paul. We really haven't seen him in a similar situation with, say, Cruz.
