Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Haven't watched much of the show in recent years. I can't believe how bad the writing is.

Just cancel SNL already
It is a full on legacy show like the Tonight Show that will outlive us all. Continues to get very good ratings.

Oh and:

Meh. Never said I was "terrified" of Carson--just have stated that everyone on this board underestimates his chances and that he'd be a terrible president for the country.

As for Michigan, just track the demographics. A red turn is in national elections is coming. Probably 2020, but Michigan will be closer this time around than before.
Michigan has been firmly D+2-3 for years. It is the exact same situation as Pennsylvania - the surrounding areas are red but as long as the cities vote it's nothing to worry about.

I think the GOP will need to start targeting the Midwest if they want to counter their losses in the south. But that won't happen on its own, they need to adjust their platform. Their fire and brimstone bullshit isn't going to win over suburbanites.

MI can not be taken for granted even though it leans D. Republicans swept control of all major state offices and have full control of the state house now too.

If Clinton shot 3-5 people a night in Atlanta, then yeah. Otherwise, you'll never here Clinton's name much on my news unless some more emails come up.

3-5 a day? Really? Jesus. I live near Cleveland, and while they tend to come in batches, I'm not sure we hear about them that often. I'm sure it's just not reported on, which also makes me angry/sad/confused. There's a load of things about bigger city life that I'm woefully uninformed on. I get angry about what is actually reported on here, and I'm guessing we don't hear about the half of it.

I'm guessing our local media will spend the next few months selectively covering some thing because of the GOP convention.

So...does anyone think SNL affects Trump's polls?

No, but I don't get the point of him doing it.

I was just reminded of this article from February on a bizarre relationship between right wing ideology and a subset of (supposedly) academic neurosurgery.

Here's a quoted excerpt from an article in Surgical Neurology:
[Obama]’s beliefs were socialistic, as was his background… In my 50 years as a voter in the United States, I have never seen such disregard of the public by its elected officials… The Democrat Party wants a system in which the decisions are made by an elite few on the basis that the issues are too complicated for the people to understand.
And one from Surgical Neurology International:
The collectivists not only seek to destroy Judeo-Christian beliefs but also are aggressively altering the church from inside so that it too becomes a voice of egalitarian collectivism, that is, the new world order […] in being blinded to the real truth, we are building the gallows of our own civilization.

Holy shit, that Trump sketch was so cringeworthy. I've never seen so many jokes fall flat. I hope Trump bitches about it later.

That chick that played Ivanka tho...

Michigan GOP has pretty much maximized their potential in the state House and Senate. More people voted for Democratic state legislators than Republican ones in 2012, but it didn't matter. The current Democratic coalition produces really inefficient voting patterns.

I do agree, though. I could see Michigan going being competitive in 2020/2024. Republicans would do well to target the Midwest as Georgia and North Carolina trend blue.
