This line doesn't make any sense. Every state in the Democratic primaries is a blue state and even if you limit the race to the states Obama won in 2012, they're tied four to four.

they don't understand that a. its proportional so both Hillary and Bernie will get delegates even if the later goes 60-40 in those 3 and b. Hillary with her margins in the south will just wipe that away in LA and MS. c. MI

I know. I had to show them maps of how Obama did in the general in the blue and swing states that Clinton won in the primaries to show them a total lack of correlation. I don't think it sank in though, because the same people this morning were posting about how Sanders is only however many percent behind of the total number of pledged delegates when there is so many to go.

At least let liberals in deep red states have some say in who might be President by helping pick the nominee, since they get no say in who will win between the two major candidates come November.

What are these people going to say when Bernie wins Idaho and Utah?

"Oh these ones count because it's whi---ummmm"

To me, it boils down to people not realizing that there are some people who legitimately would rather choose Hillary over Sanders. The possibility doesn't register with their ideological purity.

Would Hillary consider SCOTUS candidates who are opposed to the death penalty? I'm asking because I don't know.

and that her stance on the issue is troubling to me
I hope so. State sanctioned murder is bad.
Jane Sanders parroted the "only blue states matter" line on the Chris Hayes show last night. Chris was shocked and pushed her on it which I was glad to see, but man.
*sigh*
King Obama!

I hope you're say that knowing presidents do not really deserve much credit for economic growth.

Sometimes I have trouble deciphering jokes and snark here.

Well, this election has certainly taught me that there is a part of the Democratic party and their supporters that is just as unwilling to budge on their principles as the Tea Party candidates and voters on the Republican side.

Ideological purity might sound great on paper, but it's shit at getting stuff done.

Jeremy Corbyn is a very effective opposition leader in the UK!

If she appoints standard liberal nominees, chances are very good. In the vast majority of times where the court is faced with an execution-related question, the four liberals vote to halt executions (and up until recently they're usually outvoted by the five others).

(I follow a fair number of SCOTUS Twitter accounts, and the alerts are predictable: motion to put execution on hold denied by a 5-4 vote. Over and over again. Depressing, and now we have a chance to change this.)

I see the death penalty issue in 2016 as similar to gay rights in the 90s: most Democratic politicians aren't where I want them to be, but the legal landscape for the issue is going to be set by the judiciary.

Even some of the GOP (see Nebraska and Utah) are starting to come out against the death penalty at the state level.

I still don't think the country at large is ready to do away with it but I feel the time is coming. This is a rare situation where hardcore evangelicals are starting to align with liberals.

They just played a couple of excerpts from Romney's speech that he is going to read later today. He's going to try to wreck him. What a mess.

I don't mean to cast doubt on that scenario, but I do want to know for sure that's how it's probably going to go. It should be something that's brought up in a debate as far as litmus tests go.

To be fair it's not a cover, it's her single.

And I swear I knew that, but the camera kept switching to that other lady and her reactions, as if she was receiving a tribute. Anyway, I edited.

But what's the point? Save face by standing up to Trump? This is all primary posturing and the Republicans will come around after the primaries like they always do.

But what if he wins? Trump in a crisis would make Bush look like Churchill. If polls a month from now show him close people may just not endorse but smart Republicans can do the same math as us. If he can't make progress with blacks, Hispanics, or white women he can't win. By getting behind a third party you give Senate republicans someone to run with to prevent people from defecting to the Dems.

How much longer do you think the GOP has to pick between Cruz and Rubio to stand a chance of taking Trump down?

Is it a risk one of them dropping out given that could mean winner takes all states get split two ways instead of three?

Do they really think Cruz's national numbers are going to hold up in the slightest when people aren't comparing him to Trump?

I'd hate to be in the GOP's shoes right. They have a very important decision to make right away if they're truly committed to stopping Trump, cause that window will almost certainly be closed come March 15th.

And *how* committed to stopping Trump are they? At what cost? At the cost of allowing President Clinton? At he cost of alienating the bigot vote that usually helps them so much?

Will we ever see another season of 'The Candidate' that comes remotely close to this one?

It's just extraordinarily mitt. It's so weak. Why does he get to be an elder statesman again? He's been rejected by the party more times than Charlie Crist.

I was thinking about this last night after hearing about the Romney speech thing. It seems like the Democrats and Republicans have flipped places in the last few years. The GOP was usually more organized and less chaotic, with an orderly (more or less) succession of candidates. Now, though, who is the head of the Republican Party? In 2012ish I would have said Rush Limbaugh, who isn't even a politician. The Democrats have a clear head (Obama) or maybe heads (Obama, the Clintons). Is Mitt Romney the best representative for the Republican Party? Is he really the best that they can do?

The real leadership of the GOP are the donors. I think that's what I take away from this. They aren't sure they can keep Trump on-message and in line. He's a member of the donor class himself and their usual carrot-and-stick method won't work on him. So now they are trying to get Romney to do a hit job on him. But when he wins, where does that leave the party? It seems like they are willing to fracture the party for a long shot at derailing Trump.

Anyway, this anti-Trump push is too little, too late. Why wait until after Super Tuesday? This effort is doomed to failure.

I haven't sat down and done the math, but I think we're at the point where it's either Trump or a brokered convention. There aren't enough "Cruz states" left for him tot take it. If Rubio loses Florida, he's completely screwed, and with Kasich in, there's no way anyone other than he (or more likely) Trump takes Ohio.

If they didn't hate Cruz so much, they could have possibly, maybe had a chance at topping this cluster fuck. But, alas, they hated him I almost feel bad for them...

The only way to talk about Trump is in his own language, and Mitt not only doesn't have that dictionary, he's not even in the right bookstore.

I'd love for the topic to come up. Seems like ever since the Dems got whacked with the issue repeatedly a few decades ago, they've been shy on it. It's time we had the discussion again.

And Donald is back to his old standard:

Trump: 'If I get out' supporters going with me

Donald Trump on Thursday flirted with launching an independent bid if it he does not lock up the Republican presidential nomination after turning out "millions" of voters.

"The establishment — they want to throw that right out the window. Because if I get out, all those people are going, they're all going with me," Trump said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe.'

Pressed about whether he was still willing to run as an independent, Trump said, "Well, look. Do I want to? No. I'm leading by a lot [among] Republicans."

"But they're spending now $100 million on negative, phony ads on Trump University," Trump said.

Pushed again on potentially launching a third-party bid if Republicans do not unite behind him, Trump referred to the letter he signed with the Republican National Committee (RNC) last year pledging to support the GOP.

"I signed a letter with the RNC and I said I want to do this as a Republican," Trump said. "But I'm not being treated the right way. I'm not being treated properly."

Trump will either be the nominee or he will run 3rd party. Those are the two options. There is no way he goes away quietly. It's just not going to happen. So, the GOP needs to decide which way they want to die. It's their call, but they need to decide. This random bull shit throwing isn't going to do anything but poison the well.

God, the GOP looks like a god damn mess. This is beautiful.

Also why the fuck is Mittens doing this.

Go home Mitt.

CNN said the same thing. Why do this now?
