I don't know why some people are getting upset I for one like the idea of Romney doing this, this would cause for friction within the GOP. Romney is trying to rally the troops, if he is e even partially successful it is a good thing.

Its super frustrating to see how incapable the Republican party is of taking down this charlatan. You're right its better than nothing but a two party system can't survive if half of it is being held hostage by a demagogue.

How much longer do you think the GOP has to pick between Cruz and Rubio to stand a chance of taking Trump down?

They can't pick. Picking guarantees a Trump majority. The math on this is almost (but not quite 100%) inevitable. Cruz can't compete in the Purple/Blue states and Rubio can't beat Trump in the conservastates. They need to be able to stop him in both or it's over.

Oh brother....

What are they going to do? Pump out even MORE dumb as fuck Bernie memes.

Bernibros: "Hand the party over or we'll make even more shitty memes where Bernie agrees with cool stuff we like!"

It's not going to get any better in the next few days is it? What with Sanders set to win some small states. Clinton is going to extend her lead, but they'll be like 'BERNIE HAS WON ALL THESE STATES MOMENTUM'.

Mostly they're parroting Daily KOS, Huffpost, Young Turks articles. Someone was coming out with that nonsense about how 'Sanders is winning the Blue and swing states, and those ones are the ones that should count. The media won't tell you this secret though.'

Le sigh.

This is exactly the secario I worried about when I saw Bernie's Super Tuesday strategy. It was a strategy specifically tailored to eliminate him from serious competition while still providing a flimsy veil of competitiveness. An it's worked like a charm on many of the non reality based supporters. I've had to very patiently explain the reality of the situation to a few of his fans who were convinced he has Hillary right where he wants her, and who were parroting the "red state votes don't matter" bullshit. Thankfully I don't have many Berniebro friends, and most of them came around pretty quickly.

This is fighting words. Trump may be a shitbag, but you cant call his voters suckers. He's the frontrunner. Seriously who thought this was a good idea? Do they actively want Trump to win? I do not get this gambit.

Edit: Only thing that makes sense is GOP trying to take heat off lightweight Rubio.

Mitt Romney is like a jilted lover that cheated on his partner and is now lashing out because he knows he did wrong. Romney has only himself to blame for losing that election. Let the Democrats spam Bain Capital attacks like a rookie player in Street Fighter.

It's embarrassing how educated liberals know the GOP's base better than the GOP. Go figure

Trump should just play nice and say "I don't understand why Romney is calling my voters stupid. They are such great people. Great people. Great Americans. Why would he call them stupid? They are smart and wonderful people. I just don't get it..."

Why would it matter if it did take heat off him? Are they trying to make him like Fetch.. He's not going to be a thing.

If you look up "holier than thou" in a dictionary today, the picture next to it is Mitt Romney.

Loooool

It's like a last ditch effort to save their golden boy Rubio from Trump's blistering attacks, and make tonight's debate about Trump rather than Rubio's lightweight-ness. That's all I could think of. I for real cannot imagine they pulled this stunt in the hopes of saving the party from Trump.

I'm so torn.

I want this to hurt Trump because, man....fuck Trump. But I want this to hurt Rmoney becuase, man....fuck Rmoney.

It will hurt both of them

Also it will hurt all other republicans

It also probably manages to hurt Bernie somehow

Yelled "Why did you accept Trump's endorsement in 2012?" after the speech and got a bunch of "We Love Mitt!" in return, but they gave up after I kept yell-asking Romney that, lol.

Pissed off some major Paul Ryan stans in the crowd.

Just kick back and relax.

Remember: there is no happy ending here for the GOP. Right now, they're picking their poison. They're choosing the form of The Destructor.

Sabato evaluated the damage a Trump nominee would have on downticket races.

He would move IL, CO and WI to Likely D, NH, PA, FL and NV to Lean D, OH to Tossup, NC, IN, and MO to Lean R and IA (!) to Likely R.

That would mean Dem-favored seats would put them at a Senate majority already with the possibility of winning 57 seats (I believe Arizona is already Lean or Likely R).
