Nah. No non-incumbent candidate has ever glided to a nomination without taking a few Ls. George W. got routed by McCain in New Hampshire, and McCain's appeal with independents was the only thing stopping Bradley from giving Gore a scare that would have prolonged the nomination a couple of months (he still came out bloodied for the general).
Hillary's done incredibly well all things considered.

He is not. He made sure he was in the air when the polls closed so that he wouldn't be on camera. He released a statement in which he attacked Trump.

Bullshit. There's people on the ground for candidates in just about every state, not giving 1 speech after a defeat in SC is not that big of a deal. It clearly was a place that had little interest in voting for him, and sticking around accomplishes almost nothing.

Seperate note. Everyone kept talking about bernie pulling Hillary left on economic issues. But has he? She's kind of using the same rhetoric there she used a year ago well before we knew bernie would run.
But you know what he did do? He forced her to focus on bernie's weaknesses which is social justice. And I really feel like he inadvertently pulled her left on that. She's really driving this narrative. This is a very.gold thing, mind you. I just find it interesting that bernie running was supposed to pull her left economically hit instead it did it on social matters.
Are you serious right now? The dude has been working with racial minorities this whole campaign. Nina Turner, Killer Mike and many others have worked with him on these matters. Not to mention his history of civil rights.

It's clear though that his message falls flat when addressing minorities, and he hasn't done nearly enough to correct it. Getting surrogates I've never heard of is great and all, but he needs to pivot to something that isn't "wall street" and be clear and definitive about how the things he talks about can be accomplished.
He can't/won't do either of these, which is why he's getting slaughtered tonight and the race will end on tuesday.

The point I believe he was making is that black people who remember the civil rights movements are truly overwhelmingly pro-Hillary in SC.

No, I mean, Ekai isn't responding to general claims about Bernie's campaign not succeeded with minorities, she's responding to a joke about Bernie fleeing to Minnesota to get away from black people.
It's a fair critique, the joke is about Bernie being racist, and it's a cheap shot. Bernie's clearly not racist, he just hasn't convinced people of color because (I believe) he hasn't effectively spoken to their needs.

Originally, it was reported that he only had issued a statement and wasn't going to give a speech. He made sure he was on a flight (and not in the state) when the polls closed.
As I said, I don't care who the politician is, anyone who doesn't come out and thank their supporters is wrong. Period. Full stop. That goes for Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders or the guy who lost my mayoral race by 30 points.
I'm being consistent here.

Normally I'd agree it's a bad decision...but he got destroyed. He knew he was going to get destroyed hours ago, which is why he hopped on a plane. I'd say the optics of giving a concession speech after losing by 50+ points are worse than simply not giving a speech and moving on.
Then how else is that supposed to be read? "get away from minorities" it suggests he has a problem with them personally. That he doesn't want to interact with them. Which is demonstrably false if one pays attention to what he has attempted to do this campaign and throughout his career. Even as a 'joke' it falls flat and reads that way.
As for the Wall Street thing, I don't know how many times I need to link to his issues page or to any video after video demonstrating him sharing his views on the issues before that Hillary talking point stops. Seems like that doesn't matter to people so I may as well let that talking point slide at this point.
If you aren't aware of his history throughout the decades, you really have no grounds to speak on his efforts to help the people. I mean it's just flat-out ridiculous to suggest he doesn't have a history in the civil rights movement both in the past and through the years.
I didn't know the AA support he has doesn't exist. Clearly those people aren't actually AA.

Honestly, Bernie's campaign collapsing is his fault. He could have hired young political writers of talent to tie minority issues into his overall campaign message in an intelligent, cogent way, but he decided to stick to the old class-based model of leftism and got nowhere with it. Even if you genuinely think racial issues are a subset of class inequality issues, as I think he probably does, part of being a good leader is knowing how to gauge, and engage with, the political climate you find yourself in.

And, again, as I've said a few times, I called her out on it. I'm speaking as someone who volunteers in these things. Not as someone who really cares either way what Bernie Sanders does or doesn't do.
You simply thank the people in the state who helped you. Even when you get blown out. Even if the only person who cares is that kid who knocked on doors for an hour or two last weekend. It's just courteous.
