I might be okay with a Trump-Sanders debate, on one condition: that it be limited exclusively to foreign policy.

adam went to a three cocktail lunch and fuck

Ya, I needed tp explain what I was going for there. I meant hte drinks were effing strong as hell. My nephew barely made it to the car hahahaha. Prime rib and alcohol doe! At noon! Yassssss queen.

Also, Bernie looks a little pathetic over this whole thing, to be honest. Sad.

It was the Sanders campaign who got Jimmy Kimmel to ask Trump about the debate

It vindicates him in that he likely believed it would garner donations and media exposure and piss off the Democratic establishment, which it did on all three counts.

It did not vindicate him if he believed it would help him win the nomination, as the only remaining way to win would be to convince superdelegates to override voters and back him, and a stunt like this will not do so. Supers continue to move to the candidate with the most votes, pledged delegates, and momentum, as they should.

Bernie is only running in the first place because he wanted a platform to push his issues. Maybe at some point actually winning seemed feasible, but that doesn't remove his original goal to push his issues.

Bernie being allowed to attack trump to his face helps push those issues, and probably helps the democratic party that are more aligned with those issues. It isn't about getting one last chance to bash hillary on TV to win a primary he's practically already given up on.

Remember this is a guy that defended hillary for the email scandal in the middle of a democratic debate. People pick out every single last quote he ever had attacking Hillary, which get thrown into headlines and tweets and then reposted here, which paints the picture of his campaign into being something it's not when he praises Hillary more often than he criticizes her.

All right then. If this is just about the issues, then as soon as he drops out, he can debate Trump and make us all proud.

Second Paragraph: True, if only we could trust Sanders to actually do that. Especially when the person you are debating releases stuff like this:

Third Paragraph: If you can't see how the Sanders campaign has gone negative since that instance, you are woefully out of the loop. Unsubstantiated allegations of fraud, outright lies about fraud, allegations of money laundering, etc etc. The first few months of his campaign were NOT like that.

He calls DWS Deborah instead of Debbie and doesn't even give her a cute nickname? She must feel so embarrassed right now. The reign of Debbie is truly over.

Not giving her a nickname is the greatest insult of all. He's basically saying he doesn't even have to come up with an insult for you because your name speaks for itself. Its the greatest Trump nickname ever.

Would be more funny if Sanders did not put the bait on the line.

On another note; that thread in OT about Zane passing reminded me of the gut wrenching story of scorcho.

Kirsten Gillibrand 2016.

Sanders supporters sure love their lawsuits.
If they go after anything, they should disqualify the "American Independent Party" from being listed.
I still don't understand how any of California's system is "confusing". People selecting American Independent Party on their registrations are... dumb. California seems to also do everything in redundancy. Even after I received my actual ballot I still got government mailers with the forms to request whichever primary ballot I preferred.

Now if some voters didn't receive the returnable request for a ballot with primary options, that's a valid concern, but I haven't seen evidence of this. It frankly feels like crying foul over the simple nature of limited primary participation. "Waaaah, we know there are more potential Bernie voters who haven't requested to vote in the primary. There must be someone stopping them!" But all this stuff about voters being disenfranchised because the word independent appears in a party's name, that's bullshit.

Doesn't that vindicate Sanders a ton now that Trump backed out?

Democrats acted like Sanders was gifting Trump the presidency by agreeing to the debate, but Trump wouldn't be backing out if that were the case.

My god, you guys will spin everything to be anti sanders. It's downright ridiculous at this point.
It's not spin if it's true.

Was not aware of that, kinda takes any wind out of the sails of that argument.

I'm not sure we should stoop to that level.
We do it jokingly here, but at that level?
Yea juvenile. But I'm pretty sure it's calculated bait to troll the fuck out of Trump. He's now gonna be firing off at Howard Dean besides Warren. In a few weeks he's gonna be firing off to a dozen or so Democratic trolls. Hillary meanwhile is discussing important issues.

How my job talking women out of abortions made me pro-choice [Vox]

Quite lengthy and detailed about the author's experience as one of the volunteers on the anti-abortion side of the process at a crisis pregnancy center.

Thanks for linking this, that was a very interesting perspective to read.

I realize now that I've been to one of those before... had a pregnancy scare with a gf a long time ago and that was the kind of place that came up on google. Didn't really know what it was and I don't think we actually got much of a pitch since the test was negative. The place in that story sounds super pushy and pretty terrifying for a young and scared girl. The thought of telling that stuff to a rape victim and not even making sure she gets treatment for her assault... ugh. Makes me so mad.

i can't vote for someone who still uses 50 posts per page

I don't use it, but one advantage is that Google searches actually give you the right page. 100 should be the default to fix this issue

Mentioned it in the slack, but the drought has impacted my livelihood pretty significantly within the past couple years. The fact that something as meaningless as "open up the water" being said as a solution to the continued issues in the Central Valley and around south costal farming for CA is bonkers.

A year and a half back nearly half of my strawberry clientele ended up literally burned up due to a lack of water and continued heatwave. The ongoing pressure to keep fields going instead of going fallow is enormous, especially out in the central valley. You basically have some farmers at worst hoarding or stealing water from others when they were tamping down on private usage for ag. Counties enacting a range of difference ordinances on usage, and no one actually wanting to foot the bill on renovating delivery systems that were way outdated.

I don't see WE'RE GONNA OPEN UP THE WATER or claiming THERE IS NO DROUGHT actually working with farmers in any capacity. Shit's not a joke. I've seen multigenerational businesses go bust over this shit now. Seems like a bad way to be in Fresno of all places.

This is amazing.

The second is that Trump was encountering his own speech, if not for the first time, then something close to it. The difference in tone and affect between the parts he read and the parts he freestyled was almost comical. He would squint at the teleprompter for a moment, read a fully formed English sentence with correct grammar and multisyllabic words ... and then grin, look out at the audience, and fire off a few hortatory exclamations.

What made this effect particularly disconcerting is that many of Trump's spontaneous interjections were reactions to his own speech.

[squint] "American energy dominance will be declared a strategic, economic, and foreign policy goal of the United States." [grin] "About time!"

It happened again and again. He'd read some statistic about the Environmental Protection Agency and then interject, "Wow, can you believe that?"

It was as though he was discovering Donald Trump's energy policies alongside his audience, and he liked what he saw. Oh, look here, Donald Trump is going to cancel the Paris climate accord, that's great!
